Yeah, I saw his comments on the DA 2 Board. On the one hand, I can see where he's coming from since everytime a new character is announced someone makes a thread asking if they're going to be a LI. For example, when the ME3 teaser was released people were already asking if the unnamed soldier holed up in Big Ben was going to be a LI. People made banners and everything. The enthusiasm of the fanbase is great but it does seem excessive sometimes.
Personally, I wouldn't mind if there were no new love interests in ME3 because as you said there are already 5 options for FemShep and five for ManShep. I'd like Bioware to focus on developing the existing romances instead of creating new ones at the end of the trilogy. Part of me strongly suspects there will be new love interests and squadmates to cater to new players but hopefully it won't be at the expense of the ones Bioware have already established.
I will be surprised if there are new LIs in ME3. I will not be surprised, however, if there aren't and people get upset. It's an RPG - not
The Bachelor.
Two LIs have been enough for my Shep. And she's found the person she has an unspoken bond with: Thane. So, it's enough. I won't be pursuing anymore romance in the ME franchise. Unless they make a whole new game after ME3 revolving around a different hero or something.
But anyway, what I was going to say is the reason I love ME so much is that it focuses largely on the plot and not "getting some," as it were. Granted, I loved DA too where the romance intertwined more with the main plot, but I don't want every BioWare game I play to be about lovey-dovey smooshy-pooing. Yes, my protagonist has feelings - she can fall in love. But damn it, she has her priorities.
