So I have a question for you Thaniacs. Would any of you prefer to see a tragic ending for Thane in ME3? I'm sure most in this thread would like to see a happy ending, but are there any dissenters among you that crave tragedy?

IMO, a miracle cure for Thane's illness seems, for lack of a better word, a little cheap (I felt the same way about Shep's resurrection from the dead). For one, I think it'd be a little bit implausible, given what Thane says about his disease in ME2. Additionally, the concept of a dying man is a rather unique thing to be explored in a video game, and I think it'd be interesting if Bioware approached this from a more realistic perspective rather than giving us the "hollywood ending". But, eh, that's just my opinion.

Thoughts? (And..I'm totally not trying to incite anything, I'm just curious.)

Ow, I just found this on YouTube. I didn't experience this in LotSB because I avoided the necessary paragon interrupts.
Next time Liara, punch me in the throat. Less painful.

I'd love some new fanfic. Sadly I'm not good at it.

Hi Marta Rio, I think most of us want a realistic cure if there is going to be one. Not something that just occurs when you start the game. We would be willing to work quite for it, and maybe sacrifice Kelly (just me) for a cure. But we don't want to be ripped off either. We want resolution and closure. I believe we all want him to live (I know I do) but don't want it cheapened. Some of us have said that if Shep can be brought back, why not a cure? There have been some whispers on CDN about some new miracle drug, but maybe we are just grasping frantically at straws that don't exist. I'm not into tragedy myself and I don't believe the others are either. It's like I said, realistic and with closure.

That's just what I have gathered, but the others may correct me. I'm sure there will be more discussion tomorrow when they all show up.

They should have put a renegade prompt to punch her in her big blue mouth. Or shoot her in the foot like Conrad, but then he was just irritating. She was in utter jealous beotch mode. Grrr

I think I'm the "tragedy hunter" on this thread, but, no. I don't want a tragic ending for Thane. I'm more a bittersweet kind of girl, needing a conclusion that inspires hope in the galaxy/world at the potential cost of the hero's life (whether it's Thane or Shep). I do not want to just save the galaxy and walk into the sunset, or if I do, it won't be a happy walk. If Thane dies, I don't want it to be from his disease. It should be epic, emotional, heart wrenching, and yes, a little tragic -- I mean we love the guy, right? -- but not in a bad way. I would prefer if Thane could choose how he dies. Protecting Shepard, the crew, or somebody else, or sacrificing himself for the mission. Those deaths I can see.

I'm also not above curing him, if done right. Like I said before though, BioWare will do what it must.

I personaly do not want a tragic ending. I just want what every other LI is going to get. I don't think anyone here wants a mirical cure. I would like the chance to cure him though. I don't think the cure shoud come easy, and maybe it shoud come at a price. If not a cure than some kind of treatment to prolong his life until maybe a cure can be found. Maybe a choice for the player. Those who want to cure him can and those who don't won't. A dying man in a video game could be interesting if done right. I don't really know if  they woud do his death justice. They would just kill him off and Shepard would just act like nothing happened. That would make me angry.  If he has to die than I want it at the end of the game so we can have some closure. For me I just want him alive, and I do want some kind of happy ending. Not hollywoods version of a happy ending, because I don't think that would fit either character. At least something I can live with.

NNNNOOOOOOO!!!!!

WHY WAS I ASLEEP DURING THIS BEAUTIFUL DRELLICKERS MOMENT!

:(

Darn England, I was blissfully snoring while you all engaged in Thane fantasies. This calls for Saren like, red, glowy anger. With illustrative subtitles.

As for Marta Rio's question, I wouldn't like a miracle cure for Thane. I think a tragic ending would suit my Thane shepard more actually. Thane is devoted to Shepard, and may put his name on the lung transplant list after romancing Shepard. But I think if Thane is to be saved (please no miracle cure) then it should have consequences in some other aspect. Like saving one person rather than a lot of people. In such a situation, I would try out both options.

But, as I have said before, if Garrus was dying then the whole galaxy can die and we will repopulate it with half turian, half human babies on the Normandy loveboat!

Hmm, maybe not... Babies cry and poop.
