Thane uses Arashu's protection against evil. The demons to not attack.

For Baldur's Gate fans, I always seem to let the spells in that game interfere with my everyday conversation. Especially when I am laughing. There is a spell called 'Tasha's horrible laughter.' Aptly named I must say.

You and I both gnas, but as JECSWU says, there shall be more! Muhahaha!

I always miss the fun!! no fair!
Few people here from Europe I guess?  :(

Took me a while to catch up...

I don't know why but in that pic Saren gives me the impression of being dancing or skating... makes me wonder what the hell Saren and the others where doing while inside Soverein, you know, the thing had no need for a crew, and you can just put that much of forniture to be thrown in a fit of anger...

@Marta Rio
I agree with everyone else:
- No miracle cure. Make us work for it.
- Shall the worst come to pass, grant me forgivess for I am going to blow Bioware HQ, do the man justice with a epic end, if he has to die midgame.

Back to Thane:

@Tasha: how about some Nihlus? Always thought he was rather nummy.
I wonder if that's why there's laws against using phones while driving. Posted Image

Good afternoon fellow Thaniacs......reread last night's stuff, damn, we are all good!! (ummm and so is Thane)

raven - The kitty with the dog stuffy=adorable.Wish it was me with a Thane stuffy (=PRICELESS)
Yep, I'm still in bad girl mode, I'll try and "tone it down some"
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Marta Rio wrote:
So I have a question for you Thaniacs. Would any of you prefer to see a tragic ending for Thane in ME3? I'm sure most in this thread would like to see a happy ending, but are there any dissenters among you that crave tragedy?
IMO, a miracle cure for Thane's illness seems, for lack of a better word, a little cheap (I felt the same way about Shep's resurrection from the dead). For one, I think it'd be a little bit implausible, given what Thane says about his disease in ME2. Additionally, the concept of a dying man is a rather unique thing to be explored in a video game, and I think it'd be interesting if Bioware approached this from a more realistic perspective rather than giving us the "hollywood ending". But, eh, that's just my opinion.
Thoughts? (And..I'm totally not trying to incite anything, I'm just curious.)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I agree with what raven, JECWSU, Mnomaha & Tash have said about realistic cure, (no miracle cure),resolution (closure), an ending or death that is worthy of the universe/game (inspirational) versus "death by disease".
What I will add is - I don't want to see anything similar to the "resurrection from atmosperically dead" either, but that doesn't apply to Thane. Kepral's disease isn't like cancer. It is a massive bacterial infection that is resistant to the known antibiotics of the ME universe inhabitants. (The US has a bacterial resistant strain now called Vancomycin Resistant Staphylococcus aureus, we've had 11 cases of VRSA in 8 years) The fact that we have discovered a combination of older, known antibx that can treat VRSA in this day and age, makes the death of Thane and other Drell from KS in the ME future, more "implausible and cheap" to me. I mean, they are light years ahead of us in medical science and technology (they brought Shep back from "space mush" after all), and they have soooo many more medical resources available, from so many different species, that a combination of antibx is available, the issue is finding it!  (AND, a lung transplant will NOT cure Thane, the KS bacteria has already spread to other organs/areas in his body, so the transplanted lungs would become infected with KS fairly quickly, the risks far outweigh the benefits - so, that option is total ME fiction)
Throw in nano-tech (yep, Shep has 'em, so you know they're available), and a KS cure is NOT farfetched, but credible. His death from KS would be unbelievable and a cheap way to go. However if BW cured him, then killed him off with Shep (and other members of the Normandy) in a heroic "saved the universe" way, talk about your creative writing, and *applause*, I hear the award nominations already................ok, end of *rave* (not a rant)Posted Image

mnomaha - lol at the picture of head banging, green toys, driving and the expression on the faces of folks passing by. I should just stick with a "Thane stuffy" that I mentioned to raven.
(omg, THAT isn't gonna generate any creative juices is it *wink wink, nudge, nudge*)

I personaly do not want a tragic ending. I just want what every other LI is going to get. I don't think anyone here wants a miracle cure. I would like the chance to cure him though. I don't think the cure shoud come easy, and maybe it shoud come at a price. If not a cure than some kind of treatment to prolong his life until maybe a cure can be found. Maybe a choice for the player. Those who want to cure him can and those who don't won't. A dying man in a video game could be interesting if done right. I don't really know if  they woud do his death justice. They would just kill him off and Shepard would just act like nothing happened. That would make me angry.  If he has to die than I want it at the end of the game so we can have some closure. For me I just want him alive, and I do want some kind of happy ending. Not hollywoods version of a happy ending, because I don't think that would fit either character. At least something I can live with.

I agree. besides, we know that a cure is being worked on so it's not like it would come out of the blue. Thane just thinks he won't live to see it come to fruition. But  maybe if the Hanar had outside assistance and more resources they could make swifter  progress. Thane getting the transplant could also prolong his life and give him more time.  I don't want it to be completely hopeless so giving players a choice seems like the best compromise. Those who want to cure him can take the necessary steps and those who don't won't have  to.

What I would absolutely hate is if Thane dies no matter what and his death barely fazes my Shep. If she just moves on like nothing happened I would be furious. If he has to die it should mean something, not just be brushed aside.

Hello lovely Thaniacs!

I don't personally want him to die of the disease.  If there is tragedy, then I want it in the form of him giving his life to save the crew/Shep/the galaxy.  Something that perhaps could happen with any love interest.  I do NOT want him dying in a bed from this utterly lame disease.  I don't think we should have to make some huge sacrifice to keep Thane alive, but that kind of relates to how Hedgepath has put so logically:

The more I think about it, the more stupid it seems - a bacterial infection?  I am no medical doctor, but I am a scientist... and that does strike me as, well, kind of dumb.  If they really wanted him to DIE in the ME storyarc, why not give him cancer, or even some drell-specific, made-up disease that sounded equally daunting?  It's like they *want* us to cure it.  *optimism time*  Plus we wouldn't just be finding a cure for Thane... its for a whole race!

THIS.  So much.  If he dies and my Shep doesn't shed some tears and/or punch a dent into the wall of her cabin, I will be pissed.

So totally agree with you both Tentura & Juliaxo - If my Shep lives, and no matter how Thane died, BW better let us show some emo.......alone in the quarters I shared with him and even with squadmates. I'll still need a serious mission to kick some collector ass afterwards, as my Shep will be lonely and brood too much any way, and killing bad guys will take some of that edge off (yeah, Garrus will have to reign me in when I get outta control, I'm sure) BUT, what am I saying....Thane will either be with my Shep at the end (things smoking all around us, smell of reaper death in the air, crashed and broken tech nearby and demolished structures in the distance) or we're both going out inna "blaze of glory"!!!!!

I think it is human nature to want closure. That's want I want most of all. Either that or my Femshep and Thane going down in a big ball of fire in defense of the universe.

MainShep would totally throw a dance party inside Sovereign if she had joined Saren (and she wanted to). Meanwhile, Saren would try not to laugh about the thought of what this must feel like to Sovereign, having someone dance in its... stomach? xD After I thought about it for a while, I now find it amusing that Saren can have furniture and basically use this living thing as his house if he wanted to.

I agree that Shepard should have a reaction if his/her romantic interest dies. Maybe a dialogue choice? I don't think tears would work for every Shepard - for some, definitely, but I don't see my ThaneShep as the type who would react like that. She's the type to punch a wall, for sure. Anyway, I'd rather there be no forced deaths for squadmates, but I really don't want a forced death for Shepard. No going out in a blaze of glory for my Shepards. They want to defeat the Reapers in a blaze of glory and live to brag about it with their friends/comrades/romantic interest.

Thane is the best character in ME series (at least for me). He's awesome and such a dynamic character, there's so much more Bioware could do with him.

Been reading the posts over the past few days and i definitely agree with you guys ^.^

Okay, well, hearing from scientist(s) that Thane's bacterial disease is bogus if it can't be cured is reassuring. At least if Thane dies I'll be able to say, "That's bull****! Tentura and Hedgepath said so!" Anyway, I'm up. Had to watch a movie but I'm back.

I want closure. That is all I ask of BioWare. It would be unfair to create a unique dying character who can be an LI and not have his death affect Shepard if pursued.

And Kim, I've told someone on their blog that if Shepard kills the Reapers, she's hollowing one of them out and living inside it like some sort of Shepard-hermit-crab. :> Like, this big dead Reaper right in the middle of London with Big Ben protruding from its hull. Hell yes.
