Well, the playthrough I have planned is more experimental, we'll see if I can go through with it. I always end up feeling bad if a squadmate dies. In my very first playthrough I didn't know what I was doing and Jack, Legion, and Grunt died. I had to reload and figure out what I did wrong. I'm too much of a softie. :/

I'm waiting for the next DLC before I start a new playthrough. I intend at least two more where my Shep stays loyal to Liara and another where I take Thane to the final boss (as I've never done it before). For now I'm giving a ME2 a break so I don't burn myself out like I did with DAO.
I always take Thane to the final boss. On my first playthrough, he was the one who fell from the platform after the human Reaper was destroyed and I flipped because I thought he was going to die. lol But Shepard caught him and he was fine.

My friend and I have been debating about the suicide mission. He feels it's fitting that some characters die, such as Mordin and Zaeed, as it cements their redemption, whereas I feel their pursuit of redemption is far from over and may have a much better impact in ME3 if they live. I want to see what happens to Mordin now that I've convinced himself to preserve the data for the genophage cure. And I want to see if the DLC companions will return in ME3.
I agree with you. I like having everyone survive because it's possible there's still more to explore with those characters, assuming they all come back, and I don't want to miss out on any content.
As for Mordin, I always end up telling him to hold onto the data because it's "better to have it and not need it'".
