As for Thane, I think it is awesome that Keythe Farley will play the game, I know Brandon Keener does. He does a great job VA Thane. He creates the drell image wonderfully as well. It definately makes me imagine Rakhana as a hot desert like planet, a stark contrast to Kahje.

Something tells me polls like this might be more informative if they were for favorite LI OTHER than Kaidan and Tali. 

Though I never will understand the overwhelming popularity of either character.  Still, each to their own.

Well, to be completely honest with the poll... I had to vote for other (Saren). So I posted the poll in the Garrus thread because I wanted to vote for him too. xD He's my favorite available romance option by far, and I wanted him to be a romance option in ME1, same with Tali for MaleShep.

Just curious, because I know most people here will vote for Thane, which would be your favorites if you could have a list? My list is this -

FemShep: Garrus
MaleShep: Tali
Overall: Garrus, Tali, Thane (in that order)
Wishful Thinking: Saren

I guess y'all will notice immediately that Thane's not on that list; after three abortive attempts at making a Shep for him, I've realized I have trouble playing the kind of Shepard who could reasonably romance him. I do like the character, but he's destined to be the straight bro to my ManShep's silly man XD

Most of my Shepards are the type to get along well with Thane, but not romance him. I had to plan out a whole new FemShep for that, but still make her the type of character I would enjoy playing. It's working, but she's not totally planned out yet.

I have to say I absolutely adore Thane and, even though the convo never changes anymore, I can't imagine having another love interest. I did romance Garrus, but it felt awkward and forced and not really love so much as luv. Thane's romance flows at an even and easy pace. It just seems to occur natuarally. I guess that's why he's considered a love interest.

FemShep: Thane and only Thane (Kaidan could be squeezed in as second in line)
ManShep: Ashley and Tali
Overall: Thane

Liara is intentionally excluded because she's a bi and I'm only counting the exclusives here, but she's definitely a great one herself.

I wish you didn't have to romance her in ME1 and could start a romance in ME2.  She's such a little badass in ME2, and I'm so proud of her for growing up like that.

Liara has had some significant character development throughout. Her personality in ME1 fit perfectly with her role as the lost daughter of a rogue matriach who knows a great deal about the Protheans. In ME2, the sudden change of heart comes as no surprise considering what she's been through since the Normandy's destruction and Shepard's disappearance. LOTSB pretty much addressed all these issues and Liara is now, well, Liara.

That's the definition of character development. I just hope other characters receive comparable treatment by ME3.

Yeah, I know my favorites tend to get killed off because they're villains. My favorites who are actually good guys tend to almost die, so Garrus might have a good chance of surviving the ending because his "almost death" already happened, if he follows the pattern. MainShep will hide Kai and TIM behind a biotic barrier somewhere (meanwhile, TIM wonders if it's worse to leave the barrier and take a risk, or listen to MainShep talk to him repeatedly about bringing Saren back to life).

I would hope most of the squadmates won't go through quite as much character development as Liara. It worked for her - it made sense and it would work for some of the others too, but I think a lot of them are pretty much set in their personalities by now.

Well, meta-wise, not all squaddies are created equal.  Though I always did wonder why Ash, Kaidan, Miri, and Jacob are considered the "leading NPCs" when Liara is the one who spans both games, is very plot-important, can't die, and pretty much serves the role of "leading NPC" on her own.

I agree that everyone should get more character development in ME3.  But expecting everyone to get the same as Liara is IMO unrealistic.  She IS more plot important (in the same sense that Alistair and Morrigan were more plot important) and that's just the way it is.

@fiery phoenix- yeah liara's storyline and turn around was great. i was really surprised to see her in that condition when first visiting illium. i haven't play lotsb yet, since i have no live points at the moment but when i do i'm sure it will be *in a singing voice* amazinnnng

Hehe, although I think that Thane's is the most moving romance scene, and it is handled exceptionally well, I prefer Garrus as a person, his character and all that.

Best keep this on topic to Thane though, I did vote for Garrus in the poll, but I am curious to know what aspect of Thane's romance scene appealed to you the most? I loved the dynamics in emotions, he punches his fist into the table, angry at his dying state now he has found a new Siha, and then he cries. Next thing you know, him and Shepard are giving it some. I thought it was fantastically handled, although I always felt guilty for making him afraid and apprehensive of his mortality now he has found love. Which is why I would waltz over to the main batteries

If you simply befriend him, he develops this almost zen attitude toward his death.  If you romance him, he doesn't seem nearly as at peace.  I guess it makes sense, but it makes me kinda uncomfortable too.
