Since I'm an ardent supporter of ALL LI's returning as squaddies in ME3, I must support you Thane-iacs in your quest; All I ask is that you do the same for us Tali-mancers and Jack-a-holics, as wells as the Garrus Gals, Miranda Men and JacobShippers
United we stand... and all that:P
What? No support for those who romanced any of the originals? Liara? Ashley? Kaidan?
Nope!
Since they're already confirmed to be coming back, no support is needed!
But what the heck ! Support and love for all Liara Lovers, Kaiden Kissers, and. . . people-who-like-Ashley-that-I-cannot-for-the-life-of-me-comprehend.

Why would Bioware spend forever designing an alien love interest for girls just so he could die after one game? And not only is he a great love interest, but an amazing character and (basically) the only person we know from the Drell race. Yea, we met his son, but we don't know anything about them. Thane is for Drells as Tali was for Quarians.
I don't think we can place a lot of hope in that cure chain-letter though. :I I thought it was just a joke on common chain letters, like the prothean artifact one was.

I believe we can, at leat I"m going to. I've said it way too many times, but oh well I'll say it again.
There's no point in them putting that in there other than to foreshadow or hint at a possible cure. It's not just 'any' chain-letter, it specifically names "Kepral's Syndrome." It doesn't say "Hey some random disease for aliens!"
It specifies a Drell, and the same syndrome as Thane. That's not a sh*ts and giggles sort of comment, that'd be cruel and completely unjustified to taunt at a terminal character unless they were planning on some positive ending.

I greatly prefer to just lurk on the forums but this cause is something I really want to support, so you get my first comment! Thane is such an amazing character, my favourite by a long shot. Even if we just get a short dlc about his cure I'd be thrilled, don't let Thane die!

But yeah, if it wasn't a hint on something, why put it there? With the exact right name and right species? Just seems too typical or maybe it's just being hopeful. Of course some of the other letters could be hints or whatever too, so it's probably just us being hopeful. But I prefer that to being downright negative!

They're not?
I had heard Pre-ME2 murmurings that they were confirmed to be "playing large parts" in ME3. Was this just a rumour?
*suddenly nervous aboot not seeing Liara again:(*

That letter makes it sound as if enough belief and praying would make Thane cured. Ok so, him cured by praying and stuff would be a bit silly.![]()

What it could be suggesting is for us to persuade Thane to pray to the Protheans/Enkindlers?
My thoughts are, in ME3 there will be a break in the fighting and Shepard will meet a Prothean. This prothean will give Shepard the choice to save a particular member, or perhaps Shepard her/himself. An option would be to save Thane. - This is TOTALLY a crazy assumption I made from reading that letter, so please don't read into this lol.

*sigh* if this game wants to be dark then people have to die, they already bowed over for the everybody must live crowd with the sucide mission..... No more god damn fairytail endings...people MUST DIE.
It's a war and in war people die. I agree with this. Honestly, with everything else going on there should have been a random death or 3 during the suicide Mission. Even if you took all Appropriate Precautions (as far as the ships concerned) (like a Random death of either Jack or Samara / Morinth, or one of the fire team leaders, as long the game doesn't cheat and allow you no choices , or lesss than ideal. would have been preety awesome if during the Biotic Barrier Mission and you lost both Jack and Samara, that you could have had Miranda and Jacob take turns doing the barrier. You know the whole Marine spiel of "Improvise, adapt, overcome")
I was expecting to lose somebody (As long as it wasn't Tali, Garrus or Miranda) and was kind of relieved / Disappointed that I didn't.

hey, maybe the preachy hanar from ME1 will have a role in Thane's cure. Like, you meet him again, he thanks you for letting him spread his word, and cures thane! Just like in the message about the dying drell !
That's something to look forward to!

Read previous response to quoted entry. OPTIONS is all we are asking for, and we respect your role-playing.
Off to play!

You can choose who you want to die at the end of the game by avoiding their loyalty missions, or assigning them to the wrong position. If you were disappointed, then go back and kill them off lol.
Either way, I'll say the same thing I said in response to the original post. If you want to support death in the ME3 storyline, that's fine, but to not give an option on who you want to save is unfair (especially in Thane's case).
Bioware has already made it clear you can have a dramatic bloody ending if you want. Besides, I don't see being a proper Commander and ensuring your squad survives as 'fairytale.' To me.. it adds to Shepards unmatched ability to lead (which is fully supported by the game's storyline.).

Its cruel to have a character be so awesome and then kill them off. I mean the ME writers don't want to pull a Gaider and kill off awesome characters in the epilogue do they? *cough cough*Rowan*cough*
Wholly unnecessary.
Viva Thane! (literally)

Yeah, my Shepard made sure everyone survived b/c that's the least she could do for them, after they've helped her on her mission thus far. Plus, my Shepard has issues since most of her squad died on Torfan
No one dies on my Shepard's squad! Even if she has to climb the highest mountain to meet with some Hanar mystic, with a long white beard, in order to save Thane she will!

Thane was kind of ridiculous and narmy - those photographic memory moments just made me want to slap him and yell "Get a grip on yourself, man!" Still, the romance was cute - that whole siha thing made me go "awwwwww"

I sincerely hope Thane will be in Mass Effect 3 (and as a squadmate instead of a cameo), and to kill him off without the option to cure him will be disappointing. He's my favorite character, and love interest. For my main FemShep, there will be no one else except him.

Jlb I would pay for DLC of your Shepard braving many perils to meet a sage old hanar mystic sporting a sensei beard.
I would pay for it fifteen times.
