That is a good point, are you referring to Thane's description about one being 'disconnected?' Then yeah, it makes sense. I usually take one of the team-dextro with me to the heretics.

Yes, I'm referring to his conversation when he's talking about Kolyat being disconnected.  I wonder what Thane would consider to be the "soul" or the "body" of a geth, though?  They defy traditional classification.  Geth, the essential consciousness that makes them sentient beings, are just software.  Rewrite would be a kind of corruption of their souls.  (Doesn't stop me from rewriting them.  I want a huge geth army to go up against the Reapers, especially since AIs seem immune to indoctrination.  Most of the geth turned down Sovereign's proposition)

I usually take Team Dextro too, mostly because next to Shep, they have the most experience fighting geth.  They're also the characters most strongly opposed to rewrite.  Tali because she's, well, TALI, and Garrus mentions that it's creepily similar to indoctrination.

It's interesting that most of the squadmates are against the "Paragon" option there, and some because they think it's morally wrong. xD I like that though.

Will your mainshep take out Cerberus, guns ablazin' with Saren by your side once he had been resurrected? Now that would be brilliant...

I looked at the geth rewrite thing from a practical point of view: they can provide aid against the reapers. But from a moral point of view, I always believe that survival is more important than being altered, and that you should try to survive over whatever circumstances are being presented.

Then again, maybe I am not so good with grey like Garrus. Thane's moral choice is different to mine, but I can understand his reasoning, I just think it is more important to stay alive.

Nah, they just work together to defeat the Reapers. I didn't want to give him a "you're so focused on Cerberus, you're ignoring the real threat" moment. They destroy the Reapers with guns ablazin' though. >:D

My Earthborn Ruthless is the same way about survival. To relate that back to Thane, he's a little confused why Thane would choose death when there's a chance, however slim, that he could be cured. If he was in the same position, he would take that chance and prolong his life as long as possible in hopes of a true cure later on.

I would too. However, I think that Thane may react differently towards his death in ME3, now he has a purpose. I like to think that a romanced Thane would add himself to the lung transplant list.

But killing the geth over rewriting them? Normally, I'm right behind team dextro and Thane, but I prefer to think of it as restoration rather than indoctrination, which is why (for once) I disagreed with Garrus.

As long as there are guns ablazin' I will be happy :D

And I wish Kaidan had listened to that line!

Thane probably wants to survive until the Reapers are defeated regardless of romance, but I think he has a better chance of wanting to prolong his life after the Reaper battle if he is romanced. It's nice that even Shepards who are just his friends can basically tell him not to die yet because they still need him to fight the Reapers. Hopefully that kind of encouragement can help change his mind too.

Thane probably feels he doesn't deserve it. They may give Shepard the option to try to persuade him, or maybe his son can try to persuade him to do it.

I have to say, it irritates the crap out of me when people say Thane is irrelevant as if any other squadmate save Mordin is relevant in the first place.

I think that entire thread is irrelavant. I really loved and agree with what you said Fiery, and I thought you explained it perfectly.

Although, you're argument against the OP of the thread did gain you the attention of someone.  Check it out fiery, someone just called you a sexy, sexy person Posted Image.
But I agree, the OP proudly proclaimed he has been banned twice already. Just spells trouble for me...

Mind you, at least you didn't have to suffer someone bringing up the 'beastiality' thing into the Garrus romance. That was on the discussion about turian females. Not cool.

I think that guy is just borderlining on not character bashing. It will probably get locked if it gets out of hand...

I just saw that, actually, Tasha. Not sure what he's getting at exactly, but well oh well -- as long as I've made my point.

Actually not. But I did wish to delurk for one single purpose...to bring some gifts into the Thane thread.
Mind you, the screenshots are not made by me but by Aislinn Trista, so all the bows and praise should be directed at her.
Thought I might leave this here, you know for science.
Plus maybe now we finally know where his hands wondered...or Sheps hands went *ponders* Just enjoy, peoples Posted Image *delurks*

Aello, your lurking skills are laughable, you are always on here. Don't even bother with ninja-ing in and out - just stay! ;D

But that pic is gorgeous... I don't have the flycam, but I still manage a decent screenie every now and again.

I wonder if the guy thinks you are female? Hehe, always nice to be appreciated I guess! But seriously, I don't understand why a lot of men (fiery aside of course!) don't seem to like Thane? Are they jealous?

And J, that picture is one of my faves, gorgeous lighting and a very thoughtful expression.

Wish I could, but besides lurking I have awesome ton of not-so-many-fun-things-to-do, which is..well.. * pouts*

Hm, anyone ever wondered if Thane's role in ME3 could have something to do with the Hanar and their Prothean ruins/ debris filled world. Or did Shepard not have any of those visions? Could be an interesting add to the story, IMHO.

I dunno, pouting is quite fun to do ;)

Next time I see a shadow, I will poke around and see if you're there! As for Thane's role in ME3? Seeing a hanar homeworld with Prothean ruins would be interesting, it may be similar to Ilos. However, we may go further and have a hanar on the team.

And that hanar may be Blasto!!

And a hanar may find the fabled cure for Keprel's syndrome!

Don't think Shep's ever visited a hanar world, but come to think of it, Thane could be handy if there are Prothean artifacts Shep needs, and they happen to be in the custody of the hanar.  Especially since the hanar get all militant about their Enkindlers.

ManShep: *rubs temples*  Listen, buddy.  I need to get into those ruins.  I'll...pay my respects to the Enkindlers or whatever.
Hanar: This one respectfully declines, and suggests that perhaps the honorable Spectre wishes to take from the Enkindlers instead.  This one believes such actions amount to desecration.
ManShep:  There's a huge machine army trying to turn us all into slime, and you're worried about DESECRATION?!  Christ on a--
Thane: *facepalm*  Shepard, perhaps I should handle this.  *collar pop*
ManShep: Yeah, yeah.  *steps back*   Stupid jelly.

And yet for some reason this guy likes me   Hard to tell if he's being an idiot on purpose, or just on accident.  Either way, I feel a little bad, but it's still sort of funny poking at him :innocent:

Yeah, Mordin and Miranda (mostly before ME2 though) are the only squadmates necessary for the plot to continue, unless you count Liara as a ME2 squadmate. The others are just there to be interesting, and because everyone has different character preferences... that's why we like some and hate others. I say, just don't talk to the ones you hate. It works for me.

@Tasha: When I first read your post, I thought it said that the hanar might be the cure for Kepral's. xD Then I remembered that episode of Spongebob with the jelly factory. o_o

Tasty tasty hanar?

...maybe not.  But if it's the cure for Kepral's...ooo, both horrifying and tempting.

Now that I think about it, squeezing the jelly out of jellyfish (or hanar) is oddly similar to what the Collectors were doing to build their human Reaper. Never thought I'd compare Mass Effect to Spongebob. xD

I have Shepards who would probably do it too... but I don't think Thane would like it. Good thing MainShep knows how to do what she thinks is best for the people she cares about even if it's not what they want! >:D

MainShep: You'll take the cure and you will like it, Thane.

For reals. I mean you're supposed to be building a team so that you don't die in the suicide mission. Thane proved that he was a badass and was good at killing people, so why wouldn't you want him with you?

I don't get the argument that if you already had someone who was useful then you don't need any other useful people...IT'S A SUICIDE MISSION YOU GUYS.

Yeah, Thane can still make a difference in the suicide mission, especially in Hold the Line scores. For example, one of my several suicide mission playthroughs: I don't have Zaeed or Kasumi, and Miranda was unloyal. Bringing Garrus and Tali to the final battle, which means Thane was holding the line, gets everyone to live. Bringing Garrus and Thane to the final battle dropped the score too low, so the unloyal (Miranda) died.

Well, I'm always terrified to let him out of my sight, so he goes everywhere with me on the SM. As long as I send Mordin back with the survivors, nobody dies.
