I like most of the ME characters. Thane is in the top three. Thanks for the link Kim, something else I never knew!
Welcome JeffZero and glad to see you agree with us. Personally, I would be content with an epic death at the end of ME3, but I know others don't agree with me. But Thane is brilliant, I am already partial to assassins, but Thane just has such a great character...
As for the 'anyone can die' thing, it will certainly mean a lot of work on Bioware's part. My main playthrough has everyone surviving, even the characters I don't particulrly like, because they could change, and I want to see all their story arcs.
Mind you, VS and Liara are invincible. Unfortunately, they aren't in my long list of favourites, but ah well...

Oh, thank you for the warm welcome, Tasha!

A lot of work indeed. I seem to recall hearing that BioWare has 'over a thousand' permutations in store for ME3, though? Is this one of those things I heard through the rumor mill and it's unsubstantiated or have they actually said that? If so, that's... quite a bit and a lot of it could stem from the survivors of ME2's conclusion.

I would think anyone who doesn't rejoin in ME3 could be given a relevant place in their respective societies a la Clan Urdnot's Wrex, this time complete with something for them to do since it's the finale. And then if they aren't alive then someone else takes their place. I mean, it's a simple approach but it would work. But then all the people who we'd love to see rejoin the party... that's the tricky part.

Anyway, long story short I bought ME2 for PS3 after completing ME1 for 360. So I only have one playthrough of each game so far and sadly they aren't even interconnected. Not truly, that is. I intend to purchase a 360 and rectify all this.

Sounds like a good plan. One of my favorite things about the Mass Effect series is creating a character and watching how all of their choices can change the game. I play on the 360 too.

By the way, random question: why is it all my posts seem to contain double-spacing and no one else's do? Am I doing something wrong? The Quick Reply box shows I'm only single-spacing but when I hit 'submit' that changes... hm.

Quick Reply box just shows up as double-spacing when you leave one line in between paragraphs. When you don't leave a line in between them, it'll show up as single-spacing. Or you could use "reply with full form" for it to show up normally.

So glad to be caught-up in ME's universe and able to post in these threads. I finally feel like a fan in the know.

Anyway, I support Thane in ME3 in a heartbeat but like others have said, seeing him die a 'good death' would also satisfy me. He's a terrific character and in my top five squadmates -- which doesn't sound like much but then, you don't realize how much I enjoyed just about everyone -- and it would be a crying shame not to see more of him.

I do wonder how the 'anyone can die' schtick is going to affect things.

Welcome to the thread JeffZero.
ME2 is probably one of the first games where I enjoyed pretty much every character. The anyone can die is probably something they should have thought twice about. I really have know idea how they will handle it. I think most people have at least one playthrough where everyone survives. I played ME1 and 2 on the xbox. Then bought ME2 for the PC. That's what I'm playing it on now. I do have a PS3, but I probably won't by ME3 for it. I'll just play my other favorite game on that system.

Thanks for the welcome. I agree that the writers have really gotten themselves into quite the suicide mission (oh come on, chuckle a little, you know you want to) and the programmers must be working overtime to say the least. Still, I can't wait to see the end result, even if it's a tad underwhelming.

One of the main reasons I bought it for the pc was because of all the modding you can do. I do like playing it on the pc. I took me a litlle while to get use to the controls, because this is the first game I have played on a pc. Every other game I have is either xbox or ps3. It's pretty cheap now so you can buy it and try it out. If I could do all the things I can do on the computer with the xbox I probably would have stuck with that. I guess I could say I like it on both the xbox and the pc. Although the xbox version did sometimes get stuck and I would have to turn it off and start it up again. That hasn't happened on the pc yet.

You know I love these short stories you write.Posted Image

Thanks   Since my ability to write ACTUAL stories with, you know, PLOT and characterization seems limited to a handful of characters who are less fussy than Thane, this is what you guys and the Miranda thread get out of me--abject silliness.

Seriously, why is this drell so hard to write?  WHY YOU GOTTA BE LIKE THIS, THANE? :crying:

I agree. I think the squadmates and the friendships or romances Shep can form with them make the story much more personal.  There are certain characters you get attached to and get really invested in what happens to them. Thane is that character for me when it comes to ME. If his story is cut short by his disease or even by a heroic sacrifice I'd be really sad. I think it would make the game less fulfilling (for me) because his absence would leave a void.

I just really hope we have a choice about whether to cure him or not. I'd like a happy ending to be possible for him and Shep, against all odds.

Had another delay with my system, as the OS disk I ordered is defective.  Got a refund, so I'm just going to pick up Windows 7 at the store tonight.  If you guys want some Thane action and haven't watched it yet, my FemShep Noir video has some:
FemShep Noir - The Hard Goodbye
At least to tide ya over until the dedicated one.  ;)

@hedge

I'm not thrilled about it either, but I had to replace my old 32-bit XP Pro as my hardware is all brand spanking new.

*blush* Thanks for the compliments. I love making videos, they are so much fun. I can't wait to show you guys my Thane vid, I think you'll enjoy it.

Yeah, great video aislinn!

@ Jeffzero, ME3 will indeed have well over 1000 variables, it is such a detailed game. I can't think of many other games that have that level of personalisation to a game. And I approve that you will romance Thane on your femshep playthrough. Jennifer Hale has done a brilliant job on the voiceover for femshep. And I believe Thane's romance is the one that certainly makes you think the most (you will see what I mean!) It is very rewarding, although Garrus is worth a playthrough too ;)

And kudos for romancing Tali! She is ace!

And Dani, I played ME on the xbox first too, then got it for the PC, and it is definately rewarding. The graphics are better, you can mod it (check hedgepath for sexy Thane outfit mods) and I could finally play the DLC. So I'd recommend it!

Kimprobable, you are very welcome. RM screenies are ace!

@ Sable, who needs a plot when you're fanfiction has Garrus and handcuffs ;)

Aislinn...I KNOW I will enjoy the Thane vid, that's a given. After the e-squeals, happy claps, hugging and eye glazing, I most certainly will watch it over and over and think naughty thoughts.

I got new Hware in December, and forced to convert to Windows 7 (from XP) I find I could do things 'easier" (for lack of a better word) with XP than I can with W7. I mean, taking in game pics to post with XP was a piece of cake. Now those same images have multiple steps to do in order to just convert to be able to post, and some of them still come out looking like 8.5X11 "stickies"...oh well, 'nuff said, it probaby is user error combined with weird tech, imo anyway...........

Ah yes.  That one :innocent:

Somehow I don't think Thane would be as kinky, but he doesn't need to be when he has FemShep TRIPPING OUT all the time :D

Thane's got it all. Finesse, good looks, skill... and fun side effects.
