I'm just glad that dialog option wasn't repeated word for word.

@MistressValkyrie: No joke! I still have to shake my head every time I see that. How awkward. Thank goodness the actual dialogue is so different.

Ah yes, a lack of tact in an otherwise eloquent conversation. Oh we have dismissed this claim.

Except we haven't...

At least the actual line of dialogue that Shep said wasn't as bad.  Still, seriously, devs?  We're going to initiate the romance off of the conversation where Thane is talking about how much his beloved wife's death messed him up?  *headdesk*  Real sexy.  Excellent.

I am looking forward to seeing how DA2 handles its new dialogue system, because it could be the cure for everything that's horribly wrong with the existing dialogue wheel.  I do like the ME2 style of cinematic dialogue, but like with a lot of innovations, I think it's in its growing pains.  It handles romances especially poorly.  I'm hoping the icon intent system and larger dialogue trees in DA2 help fix those problems.

ROLF
I think developers tried too hard to let us know when we were initiating a romance this time... XD

On a side note, I ended up listening to this on youtube and found it funny/creepy that I could find so many parallels between Shepard&Thane and Christian&Satine!

Now I can only imagine Thane with Satine's headpiece XDDD

Okay, I'm going to my corner now.... XDDDD

The one downside: I'm betting that neither Shep nor Thane can sing quite like that :D

I'm happy for all Anders fans and can't wait when we will have a confirmation about Thane being in me3. I'm still confident he'll be there but you can never be quite sure until it is official.

In any case I expect the same kind of sh*tstorm from other fans who are against Anders to be present for Thane. They'll be like “But he was a dead men”;”he should have died from the disease”;”you ruined his character” or the “best” one “I killed him on a suicide mission”. They’ll again call it fanservice. Some people can be so petty. If it’s something someone else wants it’s fanservice but if it’s something they want it’s probably called common sense.  But I probably won’t care then anymore. I’ll just be happy.

@Gnas - I appologise but it will happen again.

As always great pictures.

Have you noticed one illogical thing? This is well illustrated in dialogs with close-ups. Thane said when breathe in and his voice is not changed. Rhythm of breathing does not match the rhythm of the dialogue.  Other characters are not so noticeable. Have BW attention to it? I read somewhere that they have worked hard through the eyes of the characters, so they were both living. Whether they will change and this thing?

Ha, I think you are very right.  We honestly don't have much information at all about Anders' story, but people are already moaning over it.  Heck, they were moaning over it ever since that first hint that Anders might be in DA2...  just like we see threads about how Thane should be dead before ME3, blah blah.  Some people will always find something to complain about.  They like what they like and have already decided what they think should happen, and... well, everyone else is wrong.  Fortunately for us, they don't work at BioWare!!!

@Tinve:  Do you mean how Thane doesn't show any real sign of his illness - like having to catch his breathe in battle, or coughing, etc?  I believe someone else had spoken on that recently, too ... maybe abnocte (not sure... sorry if I'm referring to the wrong person).  It is hard to think of him as terminally ill sometimes, since he is so *sexily* effective in battle.  I have to think that was done on purpose.  On a basic level, I think players might not consider him a viable teammate if he were obviously struggling with his disease.  But, I also hold hope that he was not further along in the disease's progress because we might find a way to treat/cure him at some point in the future.

Who knows... Just as with Anders, I think we will have to wait and see what BioWare has in store for us.  Despite what some posters may say... they (and we!) don't have all the answers.  :P

I'm an Anders fan, a Justice fan, and a fan of vengeful characters. :D Don't want to say too much because of possible spoilers, but I'm really looking forward to DA2, and one of the reasons is the dialogue system Sable mentioned. If BioWare has found a way to completely avoid romance traps, I hope they use that system in every game. Romance traps are annoying. They make Shepard want to drop-kick the people who trap them into volcanos. (Shepard's words, believe it or not.) Thank you, Thane, for actually being friends with my FemShep and not trying to start something. xD

I agree about his combat ability too. It fits very well with my playstyle, and I like having two characters (Shepard included) around who can Warp things.

I did comment on how Thane illness doesn't show at all in ME2 ( good memory Tentura ^^ ). I used it to make my point about why Thane's illness doesn't define his character at all.

We don't really know how Keprals works, I guess he should have difficulty breathing after some heavy exercise... but gameplay wise doesn't make sense adding such thing, it would lead people to not use him at all. And during conversations... well, the only moment you talk to him after some heavy exercise is when you recruit him... and lets get real, he clears the room really easily...

I don't remember the exact line, but doesn't he say he has about a year before he shows signs or it becomes a problem? If so, then he could still be alive for a few years, not the best years mind you. But I forget the line so I could be completely wrong.

@Kim: I am in agreement with you and Sable on the dialogue system - we've needed that for a while. My PC does not need to worry about how a mildly friendly/kind statement might be misconstrued into flirtation. Then, before she/he knows it... lovestruck companions everywhere. If it doesn't make 'em want to kick the trap romancer into a volcano, it at least makes them want to do a good 'ol *Thane fistdesk*

@abnocte: I thought it was you! Haha - now if I could just remember where I left the keys... jk. I had forgotten it was during the latest 'Thane's illness defines him' fest. I guess we should expect to hear that more and more as we get closer to ME3's release. *sighs, looks at calendar* ...We've sure got a long way to go.

ETA: @pumpkin: he says he'll be 'fine' for another 8-12 months.  Here you are... at about 2:30.

Edit again: Gnas you ninja.:bandit:

@pumpkinpirate: I've seen comments on the forums that Thane's symptoms have started to show, but I don't remember hearing that in-game. If it's a romance conversaton, then that would explain it, because I haven't played through his romance yet. And if not, well... I just forgot. xD It's been a long time since I've "seriously" played ME2, more than just replaying certain missions for combat practice and fun.

It could be possible that Thane just hides it really well. He seems like a strong guy who wouldn't complain because he doesn't want to burden Shepard or anyone else.

@Tentura: I can see it now, my poor trap-romanced MaleShep finally making it to ME2.

Thane: What took you so long?
MaleShep: You don't want to know. >_>
Thane: Fair enough. Now, about my loyalty mission--
MaleShep: Yeah, yeah, yeah. But first, we're doing my loyalty mission. I have some unfinished business from ME1.
Thane: How can I help?
MaleShep: I'll get my best kicking boots, and you bring the volcano. I'll explain later.
Garrus: It's never a good thing when he says, "I'll explain later."
Thane: He wants me to bring a volcano... here? o___o
Garrus: Welcome to the crazy train.

Thx for line.

He would have to be tough to be an assassin. So I doubt pain would bother him much.

They don't give a time line really for ME2, or not one I know about. I imagine it would span over a few months. Time wise I doubt Shepard dilly dallied, humans being abducted and all. Unless you count the hours spent trying to line Shepard up to dance with a squad-mate.
