Yeah, maybe Holly is selfish. Or maybe I am! She is kind of an extension of myself placed in Shepard's shoes. What can I say? =-)

Don't worry, I can understand why your femshep would want Thane all to herself! I think Thane is the least likely to engage in any sort of love triangle, be it paralell dimensions or not :P

@Tasha

Don't worry about the typo. It happens.

@Aislinn

I think its nice that you only have one Shepard for Thane, because she is you favorite. I don't think it's selfish at all. I know I'm selfish. I want to give every Shepard I make to Thane. Ever since the first conversation. It has been very hard to stay out Life Support.

I don't think I could really see Thane being in any kind of love triangle. What does Thane say about it if you romance him and someone else at the same time? I've never done it so I don't know I've seen what he says about it. I did see what Garrus says on youtube.

I read somewhere, probably here, that you can still get the letter even if he dies during the SM. Maybe that's why he came to Shepard so upset, he had just wrote it, or finished it, and and it brought out emotions he usually ignored. Perhaps he wanted to tell her things in person instead of her just reading them.

Something like "I have noticed I am not on the forefront of you mind, when I no longer compete for your eyes, come see me." Or something along those lines.

I've never tried to romance more than one person in either game, so no idea what the dialogue lines are for those. The Thane video I'm working on has a lot of dialogue in it, though. I went through and picked some of the options I never do to get a full spectrum of audio to work with. I think the most heartbreaking one for me is when you pick the line "No, I can't replace your wife." or something like that. Thane's reply is so heartfelt, but it breaks up the romance.

I picked that line once just to see what he says. I have never felt that Shepard was any kind of replacement for his wife. I always find it strange when some people say that she is.

I think the line where Shepard decides she can't love a dying man is pretty sad. I felt so bad for Thane.

Looking forward to seeing your video Aislinn.Posted Image

To assume that falling in love with a person after their spouse/partner dies is replacing the dead person, is insulting the person whose loved one died, and to the person whom they found love with again. And heck, to the dead person too. You can't replace people you've loved and lost. You just find new love with a new person.

I feel the same way. Which is why I will never pick that line. Just wanted a few snippets of audio. =-)

Yeah, speaking of that video... I should probably stop messing around on the forum and go finish it.

I am sure Saren wasn't patient at all! He was stomping and fuming that you were so late for your date (aka, 'sparring.')

Poor Saren. xD I'm sure he had a big "What the hell, Shepard?!" moment when she didn't join him on Virmire and was late to Ilos. Actually, he knows her. He probably figured she got lost somewhere because some fool let her drive.

Another awesome comic, hanar! :) The fish are adorable, and the last panel is hilarious.

I see a lot of talk about different Shepards and romances, so here's my explanation: I have many Shepards planned out, and I like to imagine most of them on the Normandy together. My favorite squadmates will never get romanced by more than one Shepard, because then it would feel like they're cheating - I'll just romance them multiple times with the same Shepard. Thane, as a favorite, is getting one FemShep, who I created just for him after it didn't work out for the FemShep I originally planned would be with him (I realized they were just too different). If I romance a character with more than one Shepard, it means I don't care about them enough to feel "guilty" about it. Also, it normally means that they have their own story independent from the other Shepards. I have a few Shepards who "cheat," but not with two people in the same game. I don't care about those characters as much either. For example, EvilShep is using Liara, Miranda, and Morinth for their power/influence, and figured the easiest way would be to put on an act and romance them. Obviously, I wouldn't put my favorites like Thane through that.

I agree. Thats why I think it's so strange when people say that Shepard is just a replacement for Irikah. If you pick that line of dialog about replacing his wife Thane tells Shepard that she would not have been a replacement. He also says you can love more than one person in your life.

HA! Caught you Tasha! Pimping my art, what do you think you're doing!? ;)

I also think that Shepard isn't just a replacement. But I must admit, I love Thane's response if you do decide to break up with him, Shepard claiming she doesn't want to replace Irikah.
"You wouldn't have. You can love more than one in a lifetime. I'll respect your wishes. I won't speak of it again.
"I hope it won't offend if I carry you in my heart."

Of course she is not a replacement. That would just be too :crying:. In the letter it is quite clear that she is not. In fact it is implied that she might be even something more. That's just mine interpretation anyway.

What Shepard is doing hardly qualifies as a wife replacement.

And some of our Shepards are probably nothing like Irikah. At least, my ThaneShep isn't. Irikah seems like the type who would try to stop him from killing, while my ThaneShep is the type to help him set up a kill. I imagine Thane loves them both for different reasons.

My main FemShep is a Paragon. In my head canon (and the fic I'm writing), she doesn't trust him at first and disapproves of his actions. There is an attraction there, but it's more physical. Once she gets to know him and figures out who he really is, she falls in love. It was the last thing she expected to happen, so it sort of blindsided her. When she found out about Kolyat and Irikah she reached out to help him and got far more than she expected.

My ThaneShep is an Earthborn, so the fact that he's an assassin, was trained to kill from a young age, and basically grew up without his parents helped her relate to him. For my other FemShep, the one I originally wanted to pair with him, I realized that Thane was much too Paragon. She's actually a Spacer War Hero, but a Renegade. ThaneShep is a Paragade.

My Thaneshep is similar to Kim's. She is fine with him being an assassin because she was Earthborn too, and recognises that you have to do whatever it takes to survive. She is a paragade like Thane though.

And Hanar, I have been caught pimping a lot of things recently, first Garrus, and now your art. The leader may be assigning me a new title if this continues...

I think my Thaneshep was more about physical attraction too at first, then it progressed. Like Aislinn's.

Garrus was different though, tried paragon, renegade, paragade and renegon with him. And I think renegon fitted him best for me.

I never really the saw the physical appeal behind Thane (maybe because of the simple fact that I'm a guy?), so I don't associate that with my FemShep. It's all about the person he is to me.

I think Renegon works best for Garrus too, Tasha. Probably because he is one.

As for my FemShep's physical attraction to Thane, it started from his actions rather than appearances alone. The first time she saw him, he did some very impressive killing. The attraction was instant because of that, but she didn't consider having a relationship with him until she knew him better and realized how much they had in common.

I think what I find so appealing about Thane's romance is the total change in body language as Shepard gets to know him better. When they first start talking with each other Shepard doesn't even sit with him. She even has her back to him. As they get to know each other better, Shepard begins to trust him more and sit with him and then finally holding hands during their final conversation. I just think its a really sweet progression.

I never noticed that before. In the conversations that I remember best, Shepard is sitting at the table with Thane, and that's a Shepard who's just friends with him. Although, for some of my Shepards, turning their back on him shows a lot more trust than sitting down to talk. xD

@mistress

I noticed that, too. Shepard starts getting more comfortable, even when she's sitting with him her body language changed. In the conversation they have about memory, she is sort of leaning back away from him. Then standing fairly close to him talking about Kolyat, and leaning in when he speaks of Irikah.

Yeah, my Renegon FemShep is with Garrus as well.  They are a very good match.  :lol:

I loved that bit, showed their relationship evolving not just in the way they talk too each other but also body language, I am amazed games have gotten this fare:) making such real characters.
