Good idea! It is important that Thane was not strongly opposed.mnomaha wrote...
Having said that, I think if my FemShep made a "professional" visit to Kahje (sp), they might be more inclined to hurry the hell up and find a cure. Nothing says lovin' like a grenade launcher. Or is that just me?

I was so excited to read that I'm not the only "only-Sihas" player out there! If Thane dies, every single one of my Sheps will be completely miserable. That's a lot of heart-sick sihas out there.51ha wrote...
And I don’t know how some of you play the game. But I only play Sihas. Others might try different LIs and therefore would like different stories. But in my case it will always be a sad ending if he dies no matter what I do. So I will be punished for liking someone? It’s not really fair now is it.
As for the "be alive with me tonight" line, it never bothered me. Thane comes to Shep in that scene because he's suddenly terrified of dying alone, after having spent the past several years accepting his mortality. He can't see past his fear, and that line for me helps Shep break through to him. But I know I'm in the minority. Almost all my Sheps are Renegons, so maybe it just fits better.
edit: So I know I'm going back a few days in the thread, but Dragon Age ate my entire weekend, so I'm only catching up on the Thane-love now. Sorry, folks! Keep up the awesome thread!

I am so getting to you!!! Hahaha! Have you read the last chapter of my fanfic yet Shell? You'll be as obsessed as me soonmnomoha wrote...
I've seen many things go wrong in my life. I want something to go right, just once.
A lot of the romances I watched on youtube. I have only tried a few: Thane, Garrus, Tali and Jack. And they are all my faves.
Thankyou so much for the screenies 5iha, you are ace! And I am glad I wasn't the only one who thought he looked silly on the front cover of the game. I know he is crouching, but he just looks really short. He is an assassin! There was a lot of other cooler poses they could have used. Mind you, I thought they did a much better job on the front cover of ME1 than ME2.
@ Gyro (welcome by the way!!) In game, Thane is much better than what he looks like on the front cover. Although, I am glad he is a front cover guy. But the pattern is Sheploo, female human and male alien. Garrus obviously couldn't because he was a MAJOR (and the best ever) spoiler. (I didn't get spoiled!)
So Thane was the obvious choice, being the first squaddie Bioware announced. Yay!

Unfortunately, it was the Warden I deleted to try and get a custom avatar, but it is uncanny.
Welcome to the thread! I brought Thane along for most missions too, have you done the romance scene? What did you think?

Welcome here! You will love it. Feel free to join Drellickers Anonymous, a group for those who love Thane.
I think Mordin is possibly the only known contact who could make a cure for Keprel's syndrome within Thane's remaining lifetime. There was a fanfic about that I believe...
Haha, you have the right person Tasha, no worries! A drunken night?? In Vegas??? With Garrus?? I'm jealous. I don't think Thane can get drunk so I don't think I can get that lucky unfortunately lol I have a feeling he can hold his liquor REALLY well... T-T but if would be worth the try right?
Then, I think we should definitly give Mordin some 'motivation' don't you think? He doesn't have time to give us sex lessons!
I wasn't sure what to think of Thane when I first went to get him, wasnt that excited. Then he dropped out of nowhere and killed people while you sat there staring in silence with your mouth hanging open. He doesn't even try to be awesome, I think he was just born that way! That too, was the moment I fell in love with Drell. And the pics from 5iha, those just gave me butterflies in my stomach!
I won't be able to handle it if he dies, that would just be the saddest day of my life.

I don't really approve of the fact his parents gave him up into service when he was six years old, though I believe he still considers it an honor. He was a small child at the time and I doubt he had much say in the manner. It's just the way his life has always been, so he probably doesn't look back on it with any resent.

And Thane does have the best recruitment mission in terms of cinematics, lighting and epicness! Hehe. If he dies, then it will be really well done I'm sure, and very sweet. Apparently, if he died in the suicide mission and he was romanced, he had some deleted dialogue. Something about 'I'm sorry, my beautiful Siha?' Someone posted a link a while ago, it is on youtube somewhere.
In human culture, volunteering your child to be an assassin at the age of six is certainly an awful thing to do. But Thane seems to bear no resentment to his parent's decision.
I thought it was funny when Shepard expresses shock that he began his assassin training at the age of 6. Then he says:
'Shepard, I didn't make my first kill until I was 11.'
As the tyrant gnas would say: WUT?!

Im sorry, even with the possibility of an amazing death sequence in ME3 for him, I would still not approve. He has to live or I kid you not, I may cry.
Its not exactly slavery though, right? Its more like the Drell feel that they owe thier lives to the hanar. Its more of an appreciation I would think and I suppose a part of that is to train the Drell to be super sexy, god-like assassins. I'm sorry, but I can't picture a hanar replacing Thane on Ilium. Its actually a terrifying thought.

Same here. I already got teary-eyed reading his letter in LotSB, in fact. Almost all of my Sheps are Sihas. Thane is a big part of the game play experience for me. I'm pretty attached to his character so I'm trying to be optimistic and hope the devs provide a way to get a happy ending for Shep and our favorite drell assasin. Thane must live.
As for the Hanar, I do find them kind of suspicious. I think intially they may have just wanted to help the Drell but with the Compact they've gotten lots of benefit out of this deal. They might want to keep it going even though in the long run it would be better for the Drell as a species to find a new world to colonize. We know the Hanar colonize other worlds so they could help but as far as we know they're in no hurry to do that because the status quo benefits them. It also seems like they're dragging their feet (or tentacles) concerning the cure for Kepral's. Why have they only been working on it for "a few years"? Shep needs to get over to Kahje and get them to speed things up ... maybe get Mordin to help.

Just think of BlastoYou would be able to hear the squidginess of the hanar assassin as they descend from the vent, silently neck snap the guard in front of him with its tentacles. Then the hanar assassin would extract a gun from the folds of its tentacles and roar its battlecry: 'Enkindle this!' Before shooting Nasanna.
Ok, forget scary, thats just terrifying. If he ended up replacing Thane, I would cry tears of uncertainty. The galaxy would be in greater danger if the Hanar became assassins instead of the Drell. Blasto the assassin...I don't know how i feel about that lol. It couldn't be as smooth and sexy as Thane. No way... lol
Now that I have the thought of a Hanar replacing Thane on the Normandy, I'm pertrified and am more determined to make sure Mordin or some other stupidly smart person comes up with a cure. Mordin has to have the know how. If anything, something to help fight it and prolong his life expectancy until a cure is found. Like chemotherapy for Cancer-- can't cure it, but supposed to help against it. And we don't have to worry about Thane losing hair!! ^-^

I think they've probably only been working on it for a few years because it has only been recently discovered what Kepral's really is. They've only been a part of the galactic civilisation for about 200 years, at first, they may not have realised anything was wrong as the disease develops over time. Then they would have had to work out what caused it etc.. I mean, we still haven't really figured out what causes some cancers.
And drell do live on the other hanar colonised worlds too.
I'm not convinced that the hanar are evil, but there is a chance I may be biased *peeks at username*

I'll just copy/paste what I said on DA!
XD This is a present for the WONDERFUL HANAAAAAAA!!
It's her Shepard (from her freakin' amazing comics, that you should go read NOW, if you haven't already!) after getting a little high on Thane...
It can be a Valentine, or the Secret Santa present she never got, but I really made it to thank her for doing the awesome collab with me! It meant the world to work with another artist, especially one as talented and fun as Hana!! Really, I learned so much, and was so honored to work with her!!
You've been such an awesome friend to me, and I just needed to say THANK YOU!! Love ya, girl!!

I would not approve either. I'm torn between wanting spoilers for the outcome and not wanting to listen. I honestly would be inclined to not buy the game if it was a cheap ending. Well, really any ending for Thane at all. I think he should live to be and old man. Give the "Thane stare" to all the young ones trampling his prized rose garden.
I don't see it as slavery, more like an indentured servitude. The Drell are grateful and the Hanar need the Drell. I just often wonder if they need the Drell so much that they would keep them indebted, going far enough to hold off on serious work on the cure. It would seem, going by Thane's conversation, that the Drell are waiting patiently for the Hanar to develop the cure and looking nowhere else for alternatives.
Oh and welcome to the board!

That's a really cool screenshot! I know he's jumping down, but it almost looks like he's levitating.
I can just imagine Mordin's talk to Saren and my MainShep... and it would be more awkward than the Garrus and Thane romance talks combined, with twice the information packets. xDTasha vas Nar Rayya wrote...
Yeah, it happened to Kim's Shepard and Saren too XD Mordin has a lot on his hands, I'm sure. Don't know how on Earth his terminal homepage will look like...
MainShep: *holding a large pile of books* Are you sure this is necessary?
Mordin: Yes. Read thoroughly. Important information about interspecies relations, biotics, and tech included for your safety.
Saren: You're giving me homework, salarian?
Mordin: *creepy smile*
Saren: Look at him. He's enjoying this. I wouldn't be surprised if there are cameras in our room to record this "for science."
Mordin: Not my cameras. TIM's cameras.
Saren & MainShep: O___O
Garrus: Are those cameras in our rooms too?
Thane: This is... quite unsettling.
Saren: Harper's trying to get back at me, I just know it. >_>
I thought he was twelve? It is funny how he thinks that's so much better. My Earthborn Ruthless still has him beat by 3-4 years though. >In human culture, volunteering your child to be an assassin at the age of six is certainly an awful thing to do. Mordin's creepy smile always pops in whenever he is doing anything 'for science.' Cameras in Shepard's room for when Thane or Garrus come up before the suicide mission. Or Miranda's bugs perhaps? I don't think Thane wouls be particularly fussed, but Garrus...
And lol @ 'Harper's trying to get back at me.'
Yeah, I never thought about how the Earthborn upbringing is similar to Thane's childhood in that way...
mnomoha wrote...

You mean this stare?

And silver laced moon, I don't think it is slavery, but the drell being their indentured servants and the fact that Thane himself feels a strong obligation to them shows that there are ulterior motives at work here...

The Earthborn background definitely has the possibility to be similar to Thane's childhood. At the very least, neither one had parents in their life when they were growing up. Not all Earthborns have to be the killing kind, but mine are. Some not as much as others. My ThaneShep is an Earthborn, but she wasn't a killer from the age of eight like my Earthborn Ruthless. She can understand why Thane has his beliefs, even though she doesn't share them. Earthborn Ruthless is basically the opposite - he accepts what he's done, has no remorse, feels that it was the only option, and is proud of it (even brags about it) because he survived.
In theory, if Thane was played out as a Shepard, I would say his background fits best with Earthborn, and it would be possible to make a Shepard very similar to him. Now that I think of it, I would make him an Earthborn (assassin background) Ruthless (death of a loved one at the hands of batarians, and revenge) Paragade Vanguard with sniper rifle training. I think I'm creating too many Shepards, because I came up with that in a few minutes when the thought never crossed my mind before. o_o
