However, for Thane, I kinda like Chewin's idea. A spacer has learnt how to love, whereas an Earthborn doesn't really, and a Colonist has lost those they once loved. Thane has also learnt to love, so I can see how that would put them on a par with each other. He is very confident in the relationship.

Hey, thx man. I appreciate it :)

So in what ways do you think spacer/war hero fits in with Thane? I haven't have that combo before. As bad as it sounds, I think Shepard can relate more to the crew (more specifically, Thane) if she has gone through some tough problems in her life, but has pulled thtough them. That's my opinion though.

You assume Earth-born and Colonist Shep share the same pain as Thane, that he/she says "I know how you feel". That may be true, but I think Spacer/War Hero works aswell.
As Spacer, although Shep hasn't experienced the same pain as Earth-born and Colonist, he knows love. Love for his parents and friends that he grew up with. Then during your military service, during the Skyllian Blitz, you fight for those who you love and loose some, but moves on.
Thane has experienced loneliness, and his very life is about survival, and has lost his way to live. But this Shep shows that there is more, something to fight for, something you truly love, and this gives Thane a reason to keep on living for a little longer.
This is my opinion

I do have one colonist, but most of the time I choose a spacer background.  I agree with the others that you have shown how the spacer can also be a good fit for Thane just like the other backgrounds can.

What Kim, Aislinn and Chewin have said makes me want to put more background into the Shepards I create. In fact, I may copy off Aislinn and do some 'Shepard profiles!'

I have actually been thinking about doing the same thing Tasha. I don't think I have really put much thought or effort into it. Aislinn did such a really good job on all of her Shepards background. It made me want to do the same.

Thanks!  ^_^  I actually still need to write one for Holly and Moira.  Just haven't gotten around to it, yet.

You're welcome Aislinn. How long did it take you to come up with those backstories? They are really good.
I really should start doing them for my Shepards.

I usually do a playthrough or two with my Shep before I write something up. That's so I can get a feel for their personality a bit better. I think it took me about an evening to write each one.

Well I look forward to reading the rest. I always love reading peoples background stories for their Shepards. I also really enjoyed the fanfic you wrote.

Chewin, I don't believe you have been welcomed? Welcome! :D

And Kim, I will definately do it! Your Shepard's all have a lot of character built into them, and I love how you always go for something different than what is generally expected. I'm jealous that I just jumped onto the Garrus bandwagon, even though I thought I was the only one before BSN!!

Back to Thane however, I have been pondering...

Do you think Bioware was intentional in having Thane chilling out in 'Life support' given his state of affairs? I believe there is some symbolism here that I overlooked before!

@Tasha

Yes, the very first time I played ME2 and found out Thane was dying... then saw he was staying in "Life Support" I did find it quite symbolic. =-)

I like characters who are a little crazy, have an interesting past, deep personalities, act like they could fit into an action movie, and most of them are vengeful too. Those characters end up being the type I like to play. Also, my reasons for liking Saren, Garrus, and Thane have just been summed up into one sentence. xD

I'm jealous that I just jumped onto the Garrus bandwagon, even though I thought I was the only one before BSN!!

I never expected there would be so many people who wanted a turian as a romance option either. Congrats to BioWare for making so many different romance options and giving the fans what they want (that includes Garrus, Tali, and Thane).

Oh, they must have planned it that way. I just wonder if Thane actually uses anything in Life Support. I know Kepral's doesn't have a cure, but do they have any treatments that make the symptoms easier to deal with?

It seems antibiotics help to slow the spread of infection, but eventually Kepral's grows resistant to those. From the doctor's report it sounds like Thane no longer benefits from these medications.

He's most likely suffering from fatigue, stiffness of muscles, shortness of breath and headaches. They could put him on painkillers and feed him oxygen, but I highly doubt he'd want to be hooked up to any machine.

It doesn't seem to be too bad yet, as his cognitive abilities aren't suffering. Lack of oxygen to the brain can cause confusion, disorientation, etc. Or maybe drell require less oxygen than a human does to function. Can't really say.

Dr. Chakwas' advice of him getting more exercise and staying stimulated is a good prescription.  It'll help increase the oxygen flow in his blood.  The meditation also helps to regulate his breathing, I'm assuming.

If Thane's mind started to suffer because of Kepral's too, that would be so sad. ):

I never thought about breathing as one of his reasons for the meditations, but it makes sense.

This just makes me even more sad. This is why I really hope that Bioware allows us to somehow cure him or something that will prolong his life.

@JECWSU

It is very sad. Which is why I hope they decide to let us cure him somehow. Slowing suffocating to death is just an awful way to go. If there was a way to save him, you better believe my Shep would walk into hell and back to do so.

EDIT:

To cheer you up.
Apparently, The Biotic God wants to get at Thane's zipper as badly as Holly does.

Thane looks drellicious there. It's amusing how it looks like he is daring him to do it.

To me, it looks like Thane is about to practice his Volus neck-snapping technique. XD

Now, that would be impressive. The volus don't have much of a neck, but I'm sure Thane could pull it off.

I think that is an awful way to die. They may make Shepard walk through hell and back to save him, and my Shepards would also gladly do it.

The biotic god always cheers me up. Thanks.
.I'll just leave this.

I agree.
I meant "daring" as "do it and you are a goner"

I just don't know any other English word that I could use in that context..."threat"? I always intrepreted that verb as more violent... :?

Also, someone should do a Motivational with that image.... :P
