You mean the Lair of the Shadow Broker DLC trailer? It has Feron, another drell, being tortured in it.
The only Mass Effect 3 trailer out so far doesn't have Thane in it.
So you needn't worry :happy:

Haha, no, that's the Liar of the Shadow Broker trailer, a DLC. The one being tortured is Feron, another drell.

You got ninja'd Fiery! Although saying that, when I first watched the LotSB trailer, my heart did a double take when I thought it was Thane instead of Feron.
It sounds very mean to say that I was relieved that it wasn't Thane.

It does make me think however, Thane will surely have a mixture of biotics and combat skills, so would this make him a vanguard per se?
I ask this uncertainly, however, because he can also be sent as a tech specialist on the suicide mission. That, and vanguards can't have warp.
So my theory, is that he is the only character to be a mixture of all three...

Even though I'm a Kaidan fan through and through, Thane had me from the very beginning of ME2. I always stick to one Shepard (my canon) who is Kaidan's, but I just had to make a Sheppie for Thane

Thane strikes me as a jack-of-all-trades kind of guy, as I think his training would have been very thorough.  I believe he was played up to be a sniper/melee specialist type.  He uses biotics to soften up his targets, then goes in for the kill.  Tech skills would help him break into places or sabotage shields.

At least, that's how I think about it.

I think Thane's abilities do make him a Vanguard, but his combat style isn't much like the traditional "in your face" chaaaaarge! Vanguard that Shepard can be. He's more like a mix between a Vanguard (in abilities) and Infiltraitor (in weapon choice and combat style). I don't think he has any tech abilities though. It can make sense to send him through the vents if Shepard's thinking about the fact that he was good at sneaking through vents during his recruitment mission, and not about advanced tech skill being a requirement. I mean, Jacob, the other Vanguard, volunteered first...

Also, I don't want to be mean towards Thane, but who else here has tried failing on his loyalty mission? It's quite interesting to see his state after that, like he's REALLY given up all hope on the world.
