Haha, I don't quite think tantrum. I was thinking more like he wouldn't be as willing to just "chat" anymore, rather he would be there primarily just for the mission.

He only has partial responsibility, because I imagine if Thane wasn't an option, then the employer would simply hire another assassin. But Thane still has the decision, when hired, to pull the trigger, or hold the bullet.

Sorry, I've gotta say something:

Two words: "Battle Sleep"
A lot of the work he did was under battle sleep. The dialog doesn't tell much detail but , indicates he spent several decades in this state. He mentiones the 10 years of it after Ikriak's death,  it is implied there were more years of battle sleep when he was performing work under the Hannar Compact- he was in battle sleep when he saw Irikah for the first time.

I don't think Battle Sleep is a disease or something as you seem to think. It's more likely he was just acting on instinct and not really thinking about what he was doing, which helps my point in the people he kill not being his fault.

My opinion about Thane's philosophies is that they're interesting because they work for his character, even though I don't agree with them. My favorite view on the philosophies themselves are those of my Earthborn Ruthless Shepard - that a "human" weapon still has a choice, and even if the target will be killed off anyway, they don't have to be the one to do it, and that makes a difference. But if Thane really did only kill bad people... who cares? Why does he need any more justification than that? Why does he feel guilty about killing the batarians who killed his wife? Earthborn Ruthless certainly wouldn't. He gets along well enough with Thane because of his calm, polite personality and the few things they have in common, like killing from a young age, but Thane's philosophies are the reason why they'll never be close. Sure, he would put his life on the line for Thane, but Thane's not the kind of guy he can really talk to (there aren't many people who are).

I had to create a whole new Shepard just because none of the others could fit with that philosophy of his. xD

Well, I debate with myself as well as others. So I can admit when I am wrong, hehe. My changing opinions is possibly madness induced .

His Battle Sleep will certainly have affected his philosophy at the time. And it likely caused him to think of his body as a weapon because that is all he used it for. As he explains, he was disconnected and it seemed that he no longer felt emotions.

But then his philosophy still prevails after his Battle Sleep...

I can see Garrus joking about that later, to either Thane or Shepard. Kasumi seems like the type to tease and gossip about it, from what I know about her. Jacob would disapprove, I imagine. Kelly would congratulate Shepard and say they make a cute couple. Joker would... laugh, probably. And poor innocent Grunt hearing the words "glorious green ass" from his battlemaster. He'll never look at her the same way again.

Samara would read a poem to Shepard and Thane, Legion would try to build consensus on a "glorious green ass", Miranda would pass the information onto TiM as gossip, Jack would tease Shepard, Zaeed will ignore the situation, Mordin will recommend more creams and stuff and Tali will be happy for them.
