Thane, strangely enough, somehow fits into the medieval fantasy world suprisingly well in that picture. Very well done Mesina!
Just for you to know I didn't do it, just stumble upon it on DevianArt.

What mythical/medieval fantasy race does everyone think would most fit Thane?

I really hope he will be alive in Mass Effect 3.
I've read Shadow Broker's dossier on Thane. http://masseffect.wi...ers/Thane_Krios
I like to think that the phrase "It is unclear how much longer Thane will be able to serve in direct action" means that in Mass Effect 3 he will be part of the crew, but he won't participate on the missions (he will be a character that stays on the ship, like Joker or Kelly).
I guess this way it would be easier for Bioware to keep Thane in ME3 only for the people that didn't let him die.

And did you read Thane's shadow broker dossier when you romanced him after the suicide mission? I hope you did
Thane says himself that he has 8-12 months before his condition begins to deteriorate, so if we assume that the events and missions (from Thane's recruitment) take a few months, then if ME3 begins right after ME2 (which it looks like it might.) Then Thane still has a while left to stylishly kill people in Shepard's way.
Of course, you are right, it may be that the timeline is different, so Thane stays on the ship or something. But Bioware have paid a LOT of attention to the Thane fanclub and how we want him to be in ME3. Also, they put a LOT of effort into his character, so it is very unlikely that Bioware will dump him in ME3, as many people seem to think.
And yeah, his romance scene is (in my opinion) the most emotional one.

Welcome Funny_chan. Most of us hope that he will be around in ME3. It would be such a shame if he were not in it.

I really hope that this is true. Thane is the only LI that I'm a little worried about.

Also, I'm sure you are more than a little worried about Thane in ME3 if you are anything like me Ava! But I still think he has a good chance, he doesn't have the biggest fanbase, but he has a lot going for him.

Nod, you totally should write one! Or am I going into things too fast? Hehe. I still have to finish my Garrus one, then proceed to a Thane one. Then start on some DA2 ones.
I think a way of making an ethically murky decision to artificially prolong Thane's life would be a reallistic approach. No one wants him cheapened by a magical cure all.

You know, it seems alot of people are expecting a ''ethically problematic cure'', so I'm wondering if maybe Bioware decides to do a bit of a surprise and give no chance for a cure to Thane?

I don't know if anyone is expecting it, but we would sure like some way to save him or at least prolong his life somehow. I would be very dissappointed if they didn't at least give us the option to help him.

No way would Bioware do that.
But they have been taking a lot of attention to the support for Thane, so I get the impression that they have plans for him. If Thane does die in ME3, then it will be the most epic death ever. But due to Bioware's style, I suspect that his fate will be from a choice made by Shepard.

Even if Bioware doesn't give us an option to cure Thane, and he only appears briefly in ME3 due to time and/or resources constraints, I guess it would be easy for them to at least include a dialogue option in which Thane narrates the memories of his vacation with Shepard to a desert land (or any other happy moment that the couple shared).
I guess maybe I'm asking too much, but I would love it if Shepard kept a picture in her desk featuring the couple.
