Looks like I have no faith in the poor guy... XD

I think if written right, a jack and Kolyat could work. Especially, since we barely know Kolyat and who he is. We dont have a clue as to what Kolyat has been through when Thane went off to search for the killers of his wife. That leaves plenty of room for someone to play with. I actually plan to do a oneshot fic of the two. I am very intrigued in s jack and Kolyat pairing right. I think it was a brilliant suggestion from Lem lemuri!
That's true, we don't really know what Kolyat has been up to. But the way he appeared in ME I assumed various things:
- He has no real training
- He never killed anyone before
- He tried to follow Thane's footsteps as a way to get back at him.
The last point leads me to believe that he had quite a sheltered life with his uncles and aunts, and that he wasn't round when his mother was killed ( or he would be dead, bad guys dont spare kids ).
Otherwise I see no real reason why someone that lost people dear to him will want to become an "assassin" and inflict on other the same suffering he felt. Specially since he wasn't working for a goverment, or following a code that allowed him to "filter" who he was going to kill. Actually he was just becoming a thug, killing whoever he was ordered to if the money was right ( ... same scum that killer her mother...
All of the above screams "inmature" to me, but well that's just my opinion.
It will be interesting to read your fic though

I love that shot of when Thane is in the car too. He looks very cool and stylish there (Garrus' LM? Am I right?)
I think I deserve a high-five if I got that right

Kolyat didn't really seem ruthless to me. He just seemed like a very angry kid.The way he reacts during Thane's loyalty mission told me he could never really handle being with someone like Jack. At least not for too long. He seems shocked if Shepard hits him. He can't even take a bullet if Shepard shoots him, and I think Shepard scared him if she kills Talid. He and Jack might be fun for a while, but in the end I think she would get bored and move on.

I remember replaying first ME before ME2 came out because I forgot the whole story. But I replayed it so I would know things. And then Shepard was asking stupid questions in me2 like what’s genophage again? Ugh.
Fine you don’t remember these big things it’s not really your problem if the whole species has breeding problems now is it. But seriously if Thane is Shepards LI she should know these things. I hope they don’t ruin that in favour of the new crowd.
And about the whole Jack and Thane stuff. Imo Jack is really not Thane’s type (he likes only Sihas - you know guardian angels bla bla; not crazy persons who love to kill), and Thane is probably even less type for her (way too soft for her and she would probably already like to kill him because he is too polite or something, I can really see him only annoying her to the brink of madness). :PI like Jack but those two really don’t go together.

And I don't see either Kolyat or Thane as ruthless. I think they were both victims of circumstance.
Thane was raised to be an assassin. He had no choice in this, and he was forced to be ruthless in order to cope with guilt.
Kolyat had an assassin for his father, and a mother who was murdered because of Thane's proffession. Neither of them seem inheritantly ruthless. They just had to become tough to cope with the events in their lives.

I don't really see Thane or Kolyat one of them being inherently ruthless either. I do think Thane can be ruthless. He was probably the most ruthless when he killed the Batarians that killed his wife. I agree that it probably does have a lot to do with the way he was raised. I don't know if Kolyat has it in him to be ruthless at all.

It would make for an interesting dynamic between Kolyat and Shepard.
Thoughts? Is Thane going to die?

Anyway, Thane is one of my favourite characters, and my favourite LI, so...
I also want to discuss ME3 possibilities and things. I have no one to do thiswith IRL because my boyfriend won't hurry up and finish the game.
So, hi everyone.

Hi! I am the same way - I have no one to talk about this stuff in real life, either. My husband plays, but any time I talk about Thane or Kaidan, he kinda rolls his eyes. Heh.
I once had a lenghtly discussion with my boyfriend about which LI I was going to pick in ME2. It was fun.
He just won't finish the game. He claims he hasn't been in the mood, but really, I think he's trying to get back at me for taking so long to finish Kingdom Hearts...

Well if you knew about some time line facts you wouldn't say ridiculous things like Thane will die before me3. But since you obviously don’t care about facts regarding Thane just take my word for it that he will not die before me3. He might not be able to fight (but even that is not certain - he could still be basically fine even in me3 because it starts a few months after suicide mission) but he definitely (like 100% definitely) won’t be dead from his illness before me3 or even at the begging. These are facts.
And Kolyat can never replace Thane because of the skills that he does not possess and because this is not a soap opera. <_<

No I don't believe Thane will die at the beginning of ME3. I believe he has about 8 to 12 months before the disease starts to effect him.
Kolyat as a replacement for Thane would never work. He doesn't have the training or the skills that his father has. All you have to do is watch him during Thane's loyalty mission to see he could never handle being apart of Shepards squad.

This is about how I see it. They might be compatible enough to start something, but not enough to finish it. Maybe it could work for older Kolyat if Shepard doesn't stop him from becoming an assassin. He could get some character development, become more used to killing, and after living that crazy life long enough that he could stand a chance with Jack.JECWSU wrote...

If that really happened... Kolyat and Jack could double date with one of my FemSheps and Zaeed. xD

Thane is not going to die at the beginning of ME3. His son having a cameo would be pretty neat, but being a full squadmate would be like replacing the Widow with a BB gun. (Nothing personal, Kolyat!)
No. It would not make for an interesting dynamic between Kolyat and Shepard. It would make for an interesting dynamic between Thane and Kolyat, though if we came across Kolyat again.
A better question would have been : Will Thane be shirtless in ME3, will we finally see full on drellchest? Thoughts?

I don't mind seeing Kolyat in ME3. Hopefully he and Thane will have worked out some of their problems.

He needs to die though, I don't want a cheesy happy ending. A good tragic love arc would be good, perhaps shepherd can try to find a cure but fails.
Also no real interest in seeing kolyat again besides knowing that he is consoling and growing to love his father.

We don't want a miracle cure (how many times have we said that? XDDD) Koylat being in shepard's squad is a contradiction towards everything Thane's loyalty mission showed us. And why does he need to die?
My question is why do people want such a tragic, brooding ending? XDD That is so depressing. No chessy ending but not a totally depressing ending either. Well, that's just me. I love dark endings when they are necessary, not when their purpose is very, very angsty to the point I can't even watch it.
And here everyone, look! A vid about Male Shepard and Thane's friendship!

If Thane has to die for your story to make more sense / feel better / provide you with what you're looking for, then more power to you. But I don't think anyone should be locked into one batch of choices with only one outcome. Nor, do I think, anyone wants the story between Thane and Shepard to suddenly lose all depth and meaning (i.e. magical tube of mystery cure).
What's wrong with the hero saving the day and riding off into the sunset with his / her guy / gal in the passenger seat?
