Fiery mentioned emotion and that Bioware may input the odd shrug and stuff like that. I can kinda see it happening too. I really feel that ME3 should have all these explosive emotion's going on, espically with LI's. More interactions that are more emotional. For example Thane's romance scene. The way Shepard touched his face and his hand, the way Thane cried. I thought that was really great, you could feel what was going on. Mabye Bioware should raise it to the next level, espically with Thane. He's dying. Although it doesn't really show much in ME2, I think Shepard is really scared. I'd like that to show more in ME3. The odd cry, more in-depth talks with Thane, show facial emotions more and finally take Thane  to see a Desert :)

That's what really made the scene to me.  It was so much emotion from a guy who's so confident and collected all the time.  And Shepard!  Taking Thane's hand, touching his face.  It was beautiful.  My one complaint?  No drellchest. Drellchest makes everything better.

I don't think there is anyway they could satisfy everyone with the right reaction from Shepard.

No I really don't believe that Bioware would write a good epic death scene for Thane. It would be something silly like him falling off a cliff or just getting shot and dying. That would be it, and Shepard wouldn probably not reflect at all. The question was never could they do it. Of course they could. The question is would they do it. I just don't thik they would. This does not mean I want him to die.  As I have said before I want him alive, and I want some kind of happy ending for Thane and Shepard.

I agree. In my little fangirl world the love between my Shepard and Thane is genuine and true. His death would certainly break her heart. I don't know how long it would take her to recover from his death or if she would recover from it at all. I'm sure, though, that she would be unable to do anything productive but mourn for a long time. Way too much time to fit into the timeframe of a game. They say time heals all wounds, or at least lessens the pain, but that's exactly the problem here: how to convey the passing of time until Shepard has enough strength to take up her life again? By showing her mourn over his death for a few seconds and then a time jump "six months later..." and she's ready to kick ass again? Bah, I'd hate that.
I don't want to him to die. I need a happy ending. The story of Dom and Maria in Gears of War 2 was already too much for my poor little heart... oh, the tears! I really really like the game but that scene when Dom finds her and... (don't want to spoil it for anyone who has yet to play it) ... well, it left such a strong feeling of sadness and anger that I don't dare to re-watch it. I think I would struggle even more with Thane's death in ME3 :crying:

It should be noted than one of the recent magazine reveals remarked that ME3 won't be your typical "win the war and celebrate" kind of finale. Now I have no idea what they means exactly, but it's certainly not too pleasant an implication. ^_^

If Thane does die in ME3, then it should be epic.
I was dissappointed when I did the suicide mission with my Thaneshep, and he died because I took the wrong squadleader. And then he just slumps to the ground and Shepard just carries on. I thought I was gonna get some dialogue at least, or a heart breaking cameo.
But I can understand that it would be a lot to do for all the squaddies to have a separate scene for their death. But you would think Shepard would show some emotion at his/her lover dying.
Still, I hope it isn't something Bioware repaeats with Thane in ME3. Mind you, they did have that unreleased voice file if Thane died on the SM.
'Farewell, my beautiful Siha.' Or along the lines of I believe. I am sure Fiery Pheonix will correct me if I'm wrong Image IPB

Until we meet again, Siha, I will see visions of your face in the rippled surface of Kahje's oceans. And the vast expanse of the water will serve only to remind me of the distance we are currently apart.

Good enough? ;)

The suicide mission line was: "I hear it, a sea. You look beautiful, my siha."

I say "was" because it had been cut from the actual game, for some unknown reason.

Yes, Shepard and Thane holding hands, and the look in Thane's eyes(fluttering and twinkling) XDD You can see he is so in love with Shepard.

I wouldn't mind silent scene with Shepard contemplating what she should do and Thane, being the sneaky assassin comes in and slips his hand into hers to give her some comfort. *hearteyes*

Awwwww.

I knew I could rely on you to give me the actual quote Fiery Image IPB.

I just realised, that the reference to the sea seems like a hanar thing to say. Drell are more partial to hot dry climates and deserts after all...

It makes me think, to what extent have drell adopted hanar culture.

It's a drell thing apart from the hanar IIRC, the hanar have a completely different religious background. I think their home planet probably had some form of ocean, even if they were more like Garabogazköl Aylagy than the Pacific. One of their deities is Kalahira, who is associated with the ocean, and it's inferred that she/they are separate from hanar beliefs.

Doesn't Thane also tell you that most of the younger generation of drell follow the hanar or asari religion, and that the older traditions of the drell are dying out.  He follows the drell older traditons. You are probably correct that the sea reference he makes is from his own religion and not the hanar.

You're not the only one. I think most of us feel the same as you about the relationship between our Shepards and Thane. One of mine would probably eventually move on, and the other might not ever move on. It's really to sad to think about. I hate that they added that to his chracter. I know it was probably for drama, but I think he had enough going on without this illness being added. All it does is just make us worry about if he will be alive in ME3 or not. I hope that they at least had something planned out and that his illness just wasn't thrown in at the last minute.

You don't have to worry about Dom and Maria, because I have no idea who they are. I have never played Gears of War, but I do know what it feels like to have a couple that you like not get their happy ending. I have a couple that I liked that never got theirs and everytime I think about it I get a bit angry. I guess it would be easier not to even get invested in these characters, but it's hard not to sometimes. I'm hoping things turn out better for Thane and Shepard.

The Dom and Maria scene was a TEARS. DOWN MY FACE. moment. I'm not even embarrassed to admit it, and I can see why that might be good motivation to want a happy ending for Thane and Shepard.

If Thane does die, my Shep won't move on. She already dealt with Kaidan being a complete arse on Horizon; I don't think she could take trying again after losing someone who dealt with her as a person, not just a leader. I was massively spoiled for ME1 and 2 (I actually started playing the entire series because I read the codex on Thane and he intrigued me) and after declaring he was Shep's arm, it was pretty much game over in the romance category. She'd found her match in the galaxy, and no Alliance kid could hope to live up to the drell's standards.

But to be honest, I don't see the Thane and Shepard romance as a tragedy in the making. I see it as 'I'm going to savour every moment we do have together for as long as I can' sort of thing- joy that they got any time together, happiness at what they accomplish, and peace with the memories that one was truly loved, even for a short while. 'Tis better to have loved and lost' and all that romantic crap I generally can't stand in real life. :innocent:

I want Thane to return.

And yes, I did put the support Thane image in my sig, but glitches in the sig seem to have deleted it!

But I expect Thane will be an "easy out".
He had an disease and was dying, so let's kill him off before ME3 so we can <insert new squadmate here>.

That would indeed be disappointing for anyone who made him an LI.
How the heck are you supposed to continue that relationship if he's dead?!?!

Indeed, it is. Sometimes you just can't help it and before you know it, you're obsessed with a video game character. And Thane and Fenris intrigue me far more than any other characters ever did.

haha, exactly! After ME1 I was a Kaidan fangirl and so determined to continue the romance... and then, Thane entered the scene. Errrm, who is Kaidan again???

I think Bioware could make a great depressing scene, but what I am concerned about is what happens after that scene. Shepard gets only one story and it does not matter who your LI is, if you are playing male or female or what colour your armour is. And since something big like a lover’s death is a big deal then that should make a very big impact on the story, but that won’t happen unless every other LI dies too. Therefore it will be meaningless. All Shepard’s actions should be determined by an event like that. But they won’t. Therefore the only thing they can do is make an open ending. And I hope they don’t “reward” us with a funeral, because for me that will make the whole game meaningless and absolutely non replayable.

I was never really interested in any other video game character until Thane. There is just something about him. Thane is the only character that could make me go back and play ME1 again. I didn't really want to because I have played it enough , but I wanted to make a single unromance Shepard just for him.  For some reason I just felt Thane should have one unromanced Shepard.

I always love (and by love I mean hate) how people say Thane fans could be 'rewarded' by his funeral.  Because that's exactly how I want to kick off ME3.  Being rewarded with the death of my Shepard's love interest while the galaxy is going into the crapper.

I'm pretty much on this boat.  I don't see the romance as tragic, it's more of a bittersweet vibe.

Also, Thane.

I think we need more neck snap interupts, like on Miranda's loyalty mission.

Oh we know. Please, we are good fangirls we are Image IPB.

And also, being polysthetic myself, I would love to know more about the other Gods and Godesses that Thane reveres. It is fascinating to see how much culture the drell have gained from sharing a homeworld with the hanar.

Edit: I think Thane has had a tragic past, like Garrus. But the romance itself is more bittersweet that tragic, like Kainama said, also, always love Thane screenies Image IPB.

Out of curiousity I looked it up on youtube, and under no circumstances do I want to see anything like that happen with Thane. I've never even played this game and that was just sad. I'm don't think I could handle something like this happening to him. I want my Shepard to have her happy ending with Thane.
