Brilliant art there. She is very talented. I also really like your profile pic Kathtea Trivia Aeducan. (Yeah, I need to go to the character room more!)

I know a lot of people are a fan of Samara and Thane, but I could see Jack as a better option for him (providing there is no Shepard of course Posted Image.) His calm would perfectly encounter her frustration. If there is anyone who could ease Jack's anger, it would be Thane in my opinion.
Edit: Top of the page now that my photobucket is working again!

No waaaay! Really?! Thane is back for ME3?! I had my doubts but with 'everyone returning' that is awesome!

(Yes I believe everything I read..)

Not necessarily as a squadmate. All major characters will appear in ME3, but I think most people saw that as a given anyway, especially with the LI's. I don't think Thane will be a permanent squaddie. But he may be a temp one, or be a member on the Normandy's crew for when Shepard wants to get high.

Or just spend some time in the Captain's quarters...

Is there anything new? Did they say he wouldn't be in our squad? I don't want him as a temp or just on the ship. I'm going to still try and be optimistic about it.

No. They didn't say anything about Thane yet. Except that every major character will return in me3 in some form. At least people will stop saying that he is already dead.

As for not being a permanent squady, that is just Tasha’s assumption (looking angry at Tasha).

I am quite sure he will be a permanent squad member like every other LI. I just don’t see how he can play any other role since all he can do is kill people (and do the ass grab). And no, a coffin doesn’t count.

Hehe, just my prediction. Unfortunately, I'm not an optimist. Wish I was. I am hopeful he will be a squaddie though, especially with a romanced Shepard. And the ass grab is amazing 5iha, I still remember the excitement in this thread when you revealed this to us *points to the top of the page* ;)

There will be a walkthrough for that ace. Also, did you see the techno turian on Thane's LM? :D

And sweet girl, saw that image on the squaddies get chocolate thread. I commented on it too because DAMN that is sexy. Wouldn't mind if he gave my Shepard that look!

I'm getting worried about Thane, because if he's not a squadmate I'm afraid he'll just be a cameo. Which wouldn't make any sense unless he's still dying with no cure or Shepard just leaves him in port- and we don't want that. My renegade Shep, Tana, is with Thane, and she's going to be my second playthrough of ME3. I had hoped that there would be a personal mission for him where the drell contact you and tell you of a possible cure reagent or something.

I'm sure he will be more than a cameo, after all, he is an LI.
The fact that presumably new players will also be able to choose him as an LI at the start of ME3 with the comic recap also makes me think that he has a good chance of having a bigger part in the game.

Wasn't it confirmed that ME3's recap will be disguised as Shepard's trial?
That...would be an awkward time to pick an LI.

I'm not sure. I only heard that there would be a comic recap like the one for ME2 on PS3.

No one saw the PC gamer news?

SPOILER ALERT

According to this link: http://masseffectclu.../blog/40384205/

Any LI comes back as a squaddie. So I get my sniper back, yay.

That blog has it's facts wrong. What the article in the PC Gamer magazine confirmed is that if you had an LI in Mass Effect 1, he/she will definitively return as a squadmate.
That doesn't mean the same thing applies to the ME2 LIs.

Yes, a lot of us have seen the PC Gamer magazine scans. That is where we got the confirmation that every major character (if they survived the previous games) would return in ME3. However, after reading the article in the scans, in no place does it mention that every LI is coming back as a squadmate. It does mention that all ME1 LIs would be back though, I think maybe people have read it wrong??? Or maybe I missed something. Here is the sentence in question:

"If you were coupled up in Mass Effect 1 and your partner is still alive, they're guaranteed to be a member of your crew.""

Until we get a definite confirmation that Thane is returning as a full-time squadmate, I'm not throwing any parties, but I most certainly expect him to be :)

I still think he's coming back. Be it as LI or what not. They didn't have to be specific. Thane was a major character just as Garrus and even poor ole Joker. Thane will be back. No doubt in my mind.

I was thinking that if they actually go the 'love interest is squaddie, otherwise they're a cameo' (assuming lack of death) route, I figure that non-LI Thane is on the Citadel mending fences with his son, while LI-Thane is mending fences at Shep's side.

Either way, I'm just pleased to know he's there in some capacity.

I can agree with that. But, like everyone else, you sure as heck don't want any cameos. If we can do something like a "drop me off here, Shepard. I have some business to take care of. I will send you a message when things are done later on." type of situation and you can get him back later, I would fine with that. But, I am seeing that he is back as a squaddie from everywhere.

The whole thing's driving me nuts, I just want some sort of confirmation.

O well. At least it feeds the fanfiction muse.

I hope is is in our squad. I usually take him with me in ME2, and would miss having him around.
I would love some confirmation, but I guess we will just have to wait and see.

I'm going to be rather irate, now that I think about it. I'm so used to his sniper AI; too lazy to want to learn someone else's. >:| It's fun sucking someone with singularity and watching him headshot them.

Good news that he'll be in the game.

Don't like that the realease date was pushed back, however.

I just hope there aren't any serious conseuqneces for so-called "cheating", such as both characters being unhappy with you.

That'd suck.

It's great news, and makes me so happy. I'm still wondering what they are going to do with him in ME3. While I'm not always a patient person I don't mind that it has been pushed back until 2012. Hopefully that means a much better game for us.

There shouldn't be any real serious consequences. I really hate that they called it cheating. I consider it moving on. Some people have an issue with Shepard moving on so quickly. To me it depends on your Shepard I guess. The one that moved on from Kaidan to Thane didn't really think her relationship with Kaidan was that serious. I don't think they had a lot of time together anyway.

Maybe the the consequence will be that the old LI will be a little upset with you. Maybe they won't even talk to you. Other than that I don't think it will be anything to terrible. I do find myself looking forward to seeing what happens when they meet. I don't think there will be any kind of fight, but I think it will be interesting.

While I did think Kaidans romance was nice, one of the main reasons I chose him was because he was the only option. After the first two playthroughs I found myself wishing they had given us more options. I was thrilled when I saw that we had three in ME2, and I knew that I would be going for Thane. I really liked what I saw, and I loved the trailers of him. After I did the romance with him the first time, and was able to talk to him that was it for me. Thane was what I wanted for my Shepards and there was no going back.

I agree that the "consequences" might not be as severe as some imagine. I don't think Bioware is out to punish, but to make things interesting (call me an optimist?). I do wonder, strange as it seems, if they will account for the choice not to consummate the LI relationship in ME1. You can avoid the romance scene depending on the dialog choice, I hope this is also going to be factored in to the ME3 LI conflict.

I also romanced Kaidan in ME1 because there was no other choice for a hetero-femshep, but partially because I wasn't paying too much attention to the dialog and discovered that I'd unwittingly entered into the romance. At the end during the final romance scene my femshep turned Kaidan down to avoid consummating a relationship she really didn't want. Talk about dodging a bullet...

Since my femshep narrowly escaped the roll in the hay with Kaidan, I kept an eye out for dialog changes in me2, but it seems whether you consummated or not, the dialog seems to imply that you did the deed anyway? Ick... Not that Kaidan wasn't cute, but just vacant of that critical mass that makes one swoon/commit....

So from the looks of what we're being told about having more than one LI across two games, it there will be some sort of Kaidan/Thane confrontation at the end, I REALLY hope that my femshep's choice NOT TO sleep with Kaidan (even though she *technically* romanced him) will have SOME sort of effect on the dialog...

I rolled another femshep that goes romanceless in ME1 as insurance.
