Ladies, I would like for you all to remain optimistic. I am. I guess, for me, I am reading in between the lines and I would NOT hold Xbox mag as a reliable source of ME3 news. In all honesty. 3 different magazines are saying 3 different things. Be careful what you read.

We know he will be back and we know his status as a full-fledged love interest will prove advantageous, but we have yet to hear anything regarding his role.

LOL A while back, some of us were trying to come up with flavours and scents for Thane. One of them was Chinese Five Spice, some say cinnamon, so I'm taking the middle road and going with some with a bit of anise. Oh, I think dark chocolate was mentioned as well. It's been a while though.

I didn't even know Jack had been comfirmed. I know they haven't said much about Thane or anyone from ME2 really.

We are all panicking now. Don’t listen to what others say. Everyone is just happy to call any character has a cameo so their favourite character has a bigger chance. And if the magazine doesn’t say Casey said or anyone else from Bioware then do not believe much.
I only hope we don’t get pushed into the corner just because Thane doesn’t have the number of fans as some other characters. Most of us already are in a minority (being female gamers) therefore we already get less than the male fans (like femshep animations...). So I really think that if they want to keep their female audience they will have to less ignore us. And that includes equal balance for male and female LIs. Which even if all Lis are back is not. It will be even worse if they remove Thane and Jacob. They really can’t do that. Femshep will then have only two Lis (+Liara if you can count that- because again that’s more for the male audience) while the male version will have FIVE. So the guys will get a whole harem while our femsheps are going to be lonely. But if that will be the case then they can kiss my money goodbye.

As much as I'm aware Thane's thighs and puppy eyes have a lot of fans Thane has a lot of fans but are simply not here, around, delurking and posting and stuff like that - I mean this forum isn't the only place to say " hey Thane's cool ". Wasn't Thane also voted as the best character of the year 2010 by IGN ?
If Bioware really wishes to feed of our tears and actually get them, thenI sware to God I'll have a hissy-fit then as xspray mentioned, they better have a good reason for his absence. Especially if all the other LI's are happily riding rainbow ponies with Sheploo, throwing skittles all around the galaxy...... I better not think about it.

Could be that the team has simply gone their separate ways. All the characters have their reasons for going off on their own, some stronger than others; Zaeed and Kasumi are contract fighters, Garrus's mother is ill, Tali may have duties on the fleet, etc. I'd say Thane could go either way with a romanced Shep, since he wants to protect his son but he also wants to protect Shepard.
I really do doubt Thane will only get a death cameo. We've been told that old and new LIs basically bring the drama in some form; it'll be difficult for Thane to have a scene if he's been given the sea.

Didn't Hudson also put Thane in the list of people who are off doing their thing in the galaxy? And that's without the possibility that Thane is off doing something specifically for Shepard.
I don't think Shepard's automatically going to win in a Shepard/Kolyat decision regardless, and Shepard would have to be unbelievably selfish or dense as hell to try and keep Thane from his son.
