Hey, hey now, everyone! : ) We're all here for light-hearted fun, even when fun has more serious undertones such as self-reflecting our own personalities through fiction. Please don't feel so offended as to shut yourself out, BlackEssence, I doubt Sister Helen meant any harm, no matter how it came across. As stated, most of us don't really know each other, so jumping to conclusions hardly works! However, I'll jump to the conclusion that we're all here for Thane, we all love him in our own way, from different perspectives and lord knows there's a lot in him that I wish to see in my own partner. We should be able to discuss matters like this freely. Let us be forgiving towards each other, for errare humanum est.

I'll try to divert our joined attention with a piece of drawing I'm currently working on, safe for work, but I have to issue an angst alert - http://img838.images...issathonwip.jpg It's for the dA BiowareFanClub Kiss -challenge (found here: http://biowarefanclu.../blog/40477802/). I'll never actually win or anything, but I'm drawing that just for 'fun' - if drawing something like that can be called fun...

Anyone else working on any fic or art?

First of all: Hello all! :wizard: I totaly and completely want to see Thane cured in ME3.

Anyhow, as for ME2 goes Thane is my favorite character in it (like others also but...) , just have to love that voice, spirituality etc. Not to mention those OMFG lips that he has. He, imho, looks great and I doon care if he is "green" and "lizard" or whatever. But what I seriously realy like about him is the fact that he is this trained killer, stealthy, deadly but at same time spiritual, tender. The Shepard I am currently playing will definetly "go for him", I left him for the last, you know... like lunch time... the dessert is for the last. And it fits perfectly with this Shepy that I play since she is this badass doing things that she must one way or another but she does show her softer side sometimes (usualy at the points when battarian is injured, releasing those salarian workers, not letting Mording kill his fellow-scientist or Jack killing that guy etc, you know, things like that). She isnt all paragon with her crew, she tends to be very renegadish towards them (except Garrus and Tali whom both she trust) but when it comes to Thane she melts down, letting her Ice Queen Commander Savior Ass-kicker mask to fall on flor, her tender hearts comes out if she likes it or not.

So, I realy want to see him cured and for a happy ending for this Shep of mine.

Welcome, Shanya!

Annoying Fruitcake - Now that IS a good song!

So me and Lucky Thirteen had a discussion about hybrid babies the other day, you know, for science. I said that I don't really have a problem with the concept, where she is somewhat opposed to it, and as we all know, opposing opinions make for good discussions among friends. ;) In between all the "LT UR SHEPARD IS CRAZY" and "CORA YOU ARE SICK" lines, she asked me what Kolyat would think about something like that.

Now this brings me to my favorite topic of speculation, the Krios family concept. How do you think Kolyat's gonna react to a) finding out about Shep and Thane and B) any sort of serious family commitment between Shep and Thane, be it marriage, babies (adopted, hybrid, bred, whatnot) or just... having a family dinner to make Kolyat feel like Shep's his new stepmom in some wicked, wrong kind of way.

Thoughts? :)

@ Sister Helen, I am pretty sure that people here are aware between RL and the fictional character of Thane. Besides, I don't think Thane is without his flaws, but that is part of what makes his character so amazing. I think that the way he dealt with Kolyat didn't paint him as an idealistic man, and especially his profession as an assassin. I believe Black essence only meant that Thane is an exceptional fictional character. Not that she wouldn't settle for anything less than an idealistic portrayal of Thane in RL.

@ Black Essence, sorry you were patronised. The Thane thread is always a place you can talk to like minded people. But you are now in Drellickers :D So feel free to tell us about your thoughts on Thane in there :)

And Neiti, I have two completed Thanesheps. One is a renegon who I think could have a working relationship with Kolyat in time. And another is the only paragon I have ever played through. And oddly enough, I think that Kolyat would hate her as a stepmum. She isn't self righteous, but she disagrees with Thane's philosophy, and I think to Kolyat, she would seem like a naive individual who doesn't even consider choices that may be more 'murky' in terms of morality.

Also, asari are technically hybrid aliens. I am reading through the books at the moment to see if there is any suggestion that there could be alien hybrids, but to no avail so far.

I think Shepard would probably tell Kolyat, "Look. I aint your step mama. I am Commander Shepard. I happen to be in love with your father. As long as we keep in mind that we both care for him. We should get along." I don't think Shepard would be the kind of women doing the whole baby mama kind of drama. Besides, Kolyat is old enough to be able to be reasoned with and if not, hell, she cuffed him once. A gentle reminder of that fact, and that Shepard is the Hero of the Citdel will also be helpful.

Good questions there...:wizard:

To answer the a) one... Kolyat is still jung and considering he was 10 years without a father, I believe he would throw a fit, maybe not before Shepar, but definetly he would before Thane. This wouldnt be because he would particulary dislike Shepard, but because of his late mother. With time however, I believe, that Kolyat would settle down, being grateful that his father has found someone who cares for him etc.

To the B) one... There would definetly be problems at the start of it, may it be marriage or /quoting: babies (adopted, hybrid, bred, whatnot) /end of quote . But again, after some time, I can easily see the things calm down and Kolyat accepting it, heck maybe he himself would even start to apreciate it.

The possible dinner would be a very tense and akward one, for all 3 of them. I could see Thane struggling to make it easier on all 3 of them, Kolyat having hard time to not throw angry fits and Shepard being something that we dont see her to do otherwise, being bashefull. There would most probably be a lot of akward silence, corny sentences spoken, playing with the food not realy eating it etc. , probably few incursions of that perfect drell memory. But after some time of it, I can easily see Shepard gathering her curage and making all that subside, probably directing their conversation to Kolyat himself, to his work with/for Bailey.

Shepard as stepmom... hmmm... she could actualy be quite good for the job, if she would familirize herself with everything she could learn about the Drells and as for Kolyat, of course he had a mother and of course he is all tall and grown up and wanted to be a mysterious badass assasin like his daddy, but the boy has a heart, he is still in a way a kid etc,. and I tend to think that he would need a "stepmomy", but not just anyone at that. Shep is strong woman, fights imposible odds and all, I am sure she could "fight this war and win" also, giving Kolyat the support he obviously needs, some reasurance, maybe at times nudging him back towards the path of light if needed. She would be subtle about it, of course, she would never realy consider herself as a step mom, but she would instictly act upon it without even realizing. After years passed, Kolyat with his perfect drell memory would probably connect all the little dots and be suprised at the fact how unagressively motherly she was.

Shepard that I curently play
and is absolutely with Thane, couldnt bring herself hiting Kolyat. She considered it for a second, but she couldnt bring herself to doing it.. he is Thanes son after all. She most definetly wasnt about to let him kill or have that turian a hostage... When she saw Thanes inability to realy stop his son, well, she was quick to act then... she killed turian instead. Not a perfect solution, but she is full renegade with maybe 15,20% paragon, and she can easily justify the death of the turian... she killed many, and one more just doesnt matters to her, as long as Kolyat didnt do it and as long she didnt  had to smack him. At same time, I believe that that was probably the most (step)motherly action of all.

Hybrid-babies... little Shepard-Krios running around... awww... that would be just sooo sweet. I tend to wonder how they would look tho, but I think they would be sooo awsome cute and sweet. I will probably try to draw them when I find the time. As for is it possible for them to have kids? Maybe yes, maybe not, how would  that biologicaly work out... huh... It still would be cute tho and completely suitable with Shepards character. It is hard to imagine her with a bunch or "ordinary" human kids around her but it would most definetly be in her character to have the hybrid ones, something that doesnt exist in the galaxy yet, the big unknown of raisng them and strugling with their dual nature etc. after all... we know of sorta-asari-hybrids, but other than that all we see are "pure" races, no hybrids so in a sense, her becoming the first one to have such children would be just another achievemnt in her line of impossibles made possibles.

I an also easily imagine Shepard and Thane adopting one or few kids... you know... those from maybe Citadel who are crawling the ducks... little "Mouses".

In any case, I would hope to se some Thane - Shepard - Kolyat interactions in ME3.

I will most definetly do some Shepard-Thane fanfic writings when I finish with the "letters" that I am curently working on, altrough even in these he will have a large role... just not one with happy end with them... I am reserving that for next thing.

I don't really have a problem with the concept of a baby either.  If they had one that's fine and if they never do that's fine with me too.

As to the question. I think Kolyat would not be that happy with his fathers realationship with Shepard at first. He and Thane still have a lot of issues to work out. I think it would bother him seeing Thane be there for Shepard and trying to protect her when he couldn't do those things for his mother. I do believe that in time he would eventually come around though and may even come to like Shepard.

Hopefully by the time any kind of commitment between Thane and Shepard happens Kolyat will have worked some of his issues with is father out. It may seem a little strange to him at first. He may wonder how all of this is going to work between two different species, but again I think he will eventually come around.

Welcome Shanya

I can never bring myself to play full renegade. I have tried, but it never works out for me. I'm always paragon so hitting him seemed like the best option for that. Shooting him works too, but I couldn't do that to Thane's son. Part of me wanted to hit him to knock some sense into his head.

I know you meant Talid. I was just saying I think shooting Kolyat is more neutral,or does it get you renegade points. I'm not really sure. I've only seen it on youtube. Never atually shot Kolyat myself.

@Gnas
Shooting Kolyat is a little funny. The way he just fallls over, and Thane says nothing. If you shoot or hit Kolyat he says nothing, but if you kill Talid I think he says something about that. I can't remember what.

Oh, my bad then. Sorry. =) Hm, interesting, didnt even know that you can shoot Kolyat, actualy. Will probably reload just to see how that goes.

If you kill Talid, Thane says something in the lines of "interesting way of solving this" if I remeber correct, anyhow, something like that.

the first time i did thanes loyalty mission, where you see kolyat run after that dude he's trying to kill, i literally yelled "what are you doing thane?! you blew our cover!" then i realized they used the same exact model for kolyat as thane :(

It actualy is fun. I have troubles playing her as such as first as I realy prefer "to be" paragonish but some scenes are definetly worth going renegade... like part where you push a merc out the window (Thanes quest) etc. Parts where you behave like jackass to innocent folks is definetly not enjoyable, but there is nice amout of utterly good ones... headslaming a krogan and such.
Zaeeds quest where you go after Vido is a different story tho... I prefer go paragon on him because she hits him, whilst renegade option is extra mild.

a) Well, my Shepard kind of ruffed him up (paragon fist of love) so he would already have a problem with my Shepard. I think he might be inwardly upset with Thane for finding someone new, but he might try to act like he doesn't care on the outside, or I could be completely wrong I'm pretty bad at reading video game characters :P

B) I think I could see Thane and Shep marry but not have a child because Thane's dying, not to say he won't get better (double negative xD) plus Thane already has Kolyat which I think is plenty for both him and FemShep. There's no getting around the awkward family dinner happening. I want it to be a mission for ME3.:wizard: And JEEZ sorry for the long post D:

Shepard says something about you didn't want Kolyat to become a murder and Thane says, interesting solution.
Shooting Talid

When Shepard punches Kolyat, the convo is:
Thane: Kolyat
Kolyat: This, this is a joke. Now? Now you show up?
Get out of my way. I'm walking out. He's coming with me.
Thane: They'll have snipers outside.
Kolyat: I don't need your help!
Shepard: (shoots lamp)
Kolyat: What the hell?
Shepard: (punches Kolyat)
Kolyat: You son of a ****!
I read his files. What made it all right for him to kill all those years?
Thane: I was six when the hanar began to train me. I didn't know any better. Your mother woke me from my battle sleep.
Kolyat: Then why did you leave her? Why weren't you there when she died?
Thane: Your mother. They killed her to get to me. It was my fault.
Kolyat: What?
Thane: After her body was given to the deep. I went to find them. The trigger men. The ringleaders. I hurt them eventually killed them. When I went back to see you, you were older. I should have stayed with you.
Kolyat: I guess it's too bad for me you waited so long, huh?
Thane: Kolyat. I've taken many bad things out of the world. You're the only good thing I ever added to it.
Baily: You think he's the only man who ever screwed up raising a son?

I think when Shepard shoot Kolyat and he falls, his legs go up. Love that part.

Hm. This one isn't finished, but is regularly updated and it's one of my absolute favorites: The Thirty-Six Stratagems of Wáng Jìngzé

Also, there is one not about Thane, but more about Kolyat and Oriana's time on the Citadel while their more famous family members are saving the universe:  Nothing Ventured, Nothing Gained More lighhearted than the usual Thane related fare, but it has its own dramatic moments. Also a very interesting take on Kolyat and Oriana personalities.

Heh! I've just been replaying Thane's loyalty mission on a slightly more renegade leaning Shepard. Not pulling the renegade interrupt on Mouse the first time around, but will shoot the Turian.

If you don't take the renegade interrupt, but don't do the paragon line, using the renegade one instead, there is a nice little scene of Mouse remembering the past when Thane brought him chocolate. That in turn triggers another regretful exchange where Thane recalls he never brought chocolate to his son. That whole exchange with Mouse is pure gold, actually. Take that Mouse's line at the end : "...Krios? Next time you're in town, don't bring the family." I know he is probably referring to all the trouble Thane's son brought him, but it can kinda also work for a renegade Shepard who has been acting/threatening on Thane's behalf :P. Helps that Mouse kind of shoots a glare at her as he leaves too.

Reason I bring it up though, Mouse's reaction to meeting Thane and Shepard never fails to make me snicker.
"Oh, sh*t, Krios...? But I thought you've retired.... , Commander Shepard...? But I thought you died?" Those two deserve each other :P

Aand. Matching outfits!

In Thanes loyalty mission, I don't hit they guy that stops you before you met up with Kolyat, but scare him with that there is a bomb there and he needs to run lol

On a side note, has anyone notes that Elias Keller in Thanes LM, is the same one from ME1 that wants Shep to buy him more stims outside Flux?
