Having said that, I hope we run across Kolyat in ME3. I'd love to see him working in C-Sec possibly, or back on Kahje doing work for the Hanar (all on the up and up mind you). It'd be neat to at least be able to ask Thane about him if we don't meet up with him again.
Problem is, right now all I can see when I think of Thane, Shep and Kolyat is 'OMGchin' and 'You're not my moOOOom!'. Seriously though, I think Kolyat gets a bad rap sometimes. I'd imagine he learned his lesson with Talid and will grow / change into a pretty decent guy. He's at least willing to listen to what Thane has to say and he deserves credit for that. Thane's memory of dancing crazy and of Kolyat tugging on his sleeve while Thane's reading his messages as well as Irikah's 'burial' makes me think Kolyat does love his dad, even if it's all just a little jumbled up in grief and anger.
As for the Krios family dynamic, I can totally see family game night on the Normandy with Kolyat's surly smolder trying to beat Thane's passive gaze as Shepard keeps losing credits at Pictionary because she keeps drawing stick drawings that no one cane make sense of.
Shepard: It's a mass relay!
Thane: Interesting.
Kolyat: What's the twisting curvy line going that way?
Shepard: The energy signature of the ship that just went through!
Thane: And the circle is ...
Shepard: The mass effect field when the relay powers up.
Kolyat: Relays have two arms, not four.
Shepard: It's a MASS RELAY!
Thane: If you turn the picture sideways it resembles a hanar that's had too much to drink.
EDIT: Also, Thane (and Kolyat)!
