My Shepard is all about the tough love, so I shot poor Kolyat (I like what Shep says there - and - I love how Thane doesn't bat an eyelid).

Having said that, I hope we run across Kolyat in ME3.  I'd love to see him working in C-Sec possibly, or back on Kahje doing work for the Hanar (all on the up and up mind you).  It'd be neat to at least be able to ask Thane about him if we don't meet up with him again.

Problem is, right now all I can see when I think of Thane, Shep and Kolyat is 'OMGchin' and 'You're not my moOOOom!'.  Seriously though, I think Kolyat gets a bad rap sometimes.  I'd imagine he learned his lesson with Talid and will grow / change into a pretty decent guy.  He's at least willing to listen to what Thane has to say and he deserves credit for that.  Thane's memory of dancing crazy and of Kolyat tugging on his sleeve while Thane's reading his messages as well as Irikah's 'burial' makes me think Kolyat does love his dad, even if it's all just a little jumbled up in grief and anger.

As for the Krios family dynamic, I can totally see family game night on the Normandy with Kolyat's surly smolder ™ trying to beat Thane's passive gaze as Shepard keeps losing credits at Pictionary because she keeps drawing stick drawings that no one cane make sense of.

Shepard:  It's a mass relay!
Thane:  Interesting.
Kolyat:  What's the twisting curvy line going that way?
Shepard:  The energy signature of the ship that just went through!
Thane:  And the circle is ...
Shepard:  The mass effect field when the relay powers up.
Kolyat:  Relays have two arms, not four.
Shepard:  It's a MASS RELAY!
Thane:  If you turn the picture sideways it resembles a hanar that's had too much to drink.

EDIT:  Also, Thane (and Kolyat)!

Haha, you know I imagine Thane does have a wry sense of humour, I can see him saying something like that! People often say he is too serious. But his comment to mouse and a couple of others prove otherwise.

Also, I have always thought that Thane was the only LI to say 'I love you.' But even after all the details I know about Mass Effect, I never knew that Jacob actually says it too if you take a certain conversation path with him in his romance.

And I think Shepard, Thane and Kolyat should just all go and 'dance crazy.' That would break the ice. :D

Kaidan says that he "loved" romanced Shepard.
Thane has love in his...love letter.
Kasumi says that Tali loves romanced Shepard.
Jacob tells Shepard he loves her if you "reject" him once at his romance scene.

It just seems wrong that Jacob only tells Shepard he loves her after she ends the relationship. That's wrong. It seems its more emotional manipulation versus love.

I want to hear Thane say the words! He needs to say the words. :)

She doesn't have to end the relationship. To avoid the sex scene, Shepard has to tell Jacob to go away 3 times (so Shepard gets 3 chances to say "yes" to Jacob) Even after that, the romance with Jacob isn't ended.

The only romances in which Shepard rejecting the love interest at the romance scene means the romance is over is Garrus' and Jack's.

I knew Jacob said he loves Shepard, but I didn't know you had to reject him to hear it.

I want to hear Thane say the words too. If he doesn't that's fine because he did tell you in the letter, but it would be nice to hear it.

I don't think Shepard has ever said it to an LI.

Did not know this. Thank you for the clarification. None of my Shepard's have not romanced Jack or Jacob. Jacob seems.... persistent.

haha!  Well played!

Are you granting Thane wishes Gnas?  If so, Thane should listen to the doctor's advice and expose more chest. And get more physical exercise.  With Shepard.  Alone in the Sheploft.  All night long.

Gnas! You have the quick wit of Oscar Wilde! Very well done.

I believe that some sexy saxophone playing is in order. And the lights need dimming... All needs to be in order for the Loft of Luv suite on the Normandy loveboat.

For medical reasons... I'm sure I saw all these things in Dr. Chakwas' medical report ;)

I've only started playing ME2 recently. I did Jacob's romance first, and even enjoyed it (it was probably the abs), but my second was Thane and now I don't see how I could go back. He is so sweet and I just want to hug him. Haven't tried garus yet.. and I'm not in a hurry.

I love the recruitment quest for thane. it is so fun. imagine my surprise when a body dropped in front of me. I lol'd for real. and the scene where he kills the four people that fast. so cool.

my first game I failed his loyalty mission. I felt sooo bad.

I know the guy looks very alien (Garrus,) but he actually has a really touching romance scene.

And Jacob's romance (and Liara's) are the only ones I haven't done. Did you reject him once on the actual romance scene? He actually drops the 'L' bomb on you! (Yes, I only discovered this recently.)

As for Thane's LM, I found it difficult to keep track of Talid in various places too...
Especially in the room with the techno turian...

Oh, I didn't mean not trying Garrus's romance because of how he looks, I just seemed to be hooked on Thanes. lol

I seem to do that with these games. with DAO it was Zevran. I usually try all of them (I'll have to eventually make some malesheps) and find one I like the most and stick to that character for the li

(I'm still trying to figure out which I like best in DA2)

Welcome, Shanya!

Annoying Fruitcake - Now that IS a good song!

So me and Lucky Thirteen had a discussion about hybrid babies the other day, you know, for science. I said that I don't really have a problem with the concept, where she is somewhat opposed to it, and as we all know, opposing opinions make for good discussions among friends. ;) In between all the "LT UR SHEPARD IS CRAZY" and "CORA YOU ARE SICK" lines, she asked me what Kolyat would think about something like that.

Now this brings me to my favorite topic of speculation, the Krios family concept. How do you think Kolyat's gonna react to a) finding out about Shep and Thane and B) any sort of serious family commitment between Shep and Thane, be it marriage, babies (adopted, hybrid, bred, whatnot) or just... having a family dinner to make Kolyat feel like Shep's his new stepmom in some wicked, wrong kind of way.

Thoughts? :)

I don't know why, but every time I think about how Kolyat would react to his father relationship with Shepard I can clearly see him going:
Kolyat:
Kolyat: Wha..., no, can't be... with a human?!
Kolyat:

 XDD

but I think he will grow past it and accept Shepard to a certain degree.

I don't see them having an official dinner, but I can see them having some sort of meeting to have a talk. If only because I'm sure that their relationship will be know by ME3 and having a "family dinner" while the Reapers are invading is sort of...innapropiate XD

I don't see Bioware addressing the issue of Shepard's offspring regardless of the LI. But I admit that the though of a drell-human hybrid crossed my mind... and then I realized that a human-lizard hybrid has been done before....*giggles*

I completely fail at trying out all the romances...

Garrus... I love him, great character, best friend but I just can't see any of my sheps romancing him, he's got an exoskeleton!

Jacob... I find him too sullen, the only time I considered it I changed my mind after the way shep came on to him, I thought it was embarassing :crying:.

So I've got a mixture of Kaiden and Thane, with Kaiden usually being dumped for Thane (although I do have one faithful shep)

I have never managed to play as Male shep...he's an imposter:P. My BF only played through once but managed to 'romance' Liara, Miranda, Jack and Tali...

I'm the same with DA, it's always Zevran and Fenris.  I bought DAO after ME2 and romanced Zevran first as a nod to my favourite drell assassin :)

High five! Nuva Zev girl here Image IPB

And Thane has some really nice little extra bits in his romance that are unique to all the other ones. It is definately the most emotionally charged.

And Abnocte, I do genuinely wonder if hybrid babies exist in the ME universe. Nothing canon has been said about it. But apart from asari, I would say that drell are the most human looking aliens out there (especially in terms of their bodies. And we can't really speak for quarians... yet.)

So if a hybrid baby is possible, then it would probably be with a drell?

Mind you, my Shepard wouldn't even consider it for a second. None of my sheps are quite the types to raise kids. A bit like me. Hmm...

I don't think hybrid baby's are out of the question with some races, Human and Drell might work but I don't think Human and Turian/Quarian will work because of the Dextro thing.

To make a comparison from RL but soooooooo out of contacts (so forgive bad images ect) a Sheep and a Pig are not the same spices but both are mammals, so if a female sheep and a male pig are around each other in, they might mate and bring a hybrid. If it could survive is unknown, Farmers are quick to kill the sheep in question to make sure it doesn't happen.

Edit*

The sucuess of a Hybrid is link to the simalaritys of the genus, it's more rare the if the genus are very diffrent.

Alien hybrid children are possible, but a lot of if would depend on how much we have in common DNA wise. If drell and humans have completely different DNA makeup, then it's a no go- like how we have, for example, cytosine as part of our DNA/RNA makeup. If drell use our cytosine/guanine/adenine/thymine makeup, then probably yes. At that point most of our differences would most likely be considered cosmetic and/or adaptive.

There is a potential problem, however, in that drell women deliver their children with the ability to eat solid food, whereas we've adapted to milk in the first months of life.

We'd have to see, for starters, a galactic animal kingdom chart- not just species, but genus/family/order.

Annnnd I realised how boring that must be. Sorry. Was working on a story with several hybrid children in the ME universe, might have done a little too much research. >.>
