Anyway, I remember Hedgepath telling me about that texmod, but I was never able to get it. I also really wanted a black asari commando outfit for my Shepard, but that didn't work either.

I've heard of some really cool looking texmods for Thane though. Will have to try them out on my bf's supercomputer though

Black asari commando armor is my absolute favorite. Shepard looks absolutely gorgeous in it, AND matches Thane.

If you want, I can give you step by step to get it to work, if you are not aftaid to get into .ini editing.

You'll need a few things.

1  -  An .ini fixer utility so that your ME2 game doesn't crash on start up after you modify the .ini file.

Unzip and drop in in the same folder with your coalesced.ini file

2  - A good text editor. I adore notepad ++

3 - A texmod retexture of Asari commando. Here's one I use, and while it is titled 'blue' it is actually a very nice black leather in game.

Now, getting it to work in game is tricky. The armor itself is in the .pcc file that doesn't get cooked automatically, and forcing it to always cook causes absence of sound issues on the normandy UNLESS you use another method that allows you to use the armor locker anyplace in game. (During weapon/squad selection screen so that your armor appears in the cutscenes, for example)

To do that:
In your Binaries folder create a .txt file, name it gui_armor_menu.txt
Inside the file paste:

CloseGUI personalization
showmenu
OpenGUI Personalization
setbind NumPadNine gui_armor_menu.txt

Then create a second .txt file also in the Binaries folder, name it loadseq.txt
Inside the file paste: 

OnlyLoadLevel BioD_Nor_231Morinth
OnlyLoadLevel BioD_OmgHub_500DenVIP

Exec gui_armor_menu.txt

Then make a back up your coalesced.ini because next you'll be making a few changes to it.

In the coalesced.ini find [SFXGame.SFXPawn_Player]
Look for TorsoAppearances and add:

TorsoAppearances=(Id=5,Name=339522,Description=339529,Type=CustomizableType_Torso,Mesh=(Female="BIOG_HMF_ARM_LGT_R.LGTc.HMF_ARM_LGTc_MDL"),GameEffects= ("SFXGame.SFXGameEffect_Gear_N7Torso"),PlotFlag=-1)

Change Id = 5 to a higher number if you already have the 5

Add to ShoulderAppearances

ShoulderAppearances=(Id=5,Name=339528,Description=339523,Type=CustomizableType_Shoulders,PlotFlag=-1)

Add to LegAppearances

LegAppearances=(Id=5,Name=339525,Description=339524,Type=CustomizableType_Legs,PlotFlag=-1)

Add to ArmAppearances

ArmAppearances=(Id=5,Name=339526,Description=339527,Type=CustomizableType_Arms,PlotFlag=-1)

Again, change Id = 5 to a higher number if you already have 5

This will give you Asari commando armor Torso part with N7 armor stats, and empty slots for shoulder, leg and armor pieces. Note that you will need to wear some kind of helmet with this set up because otherwise appearances are screwed up. Visors look nice. Alternatevly you can mod in 'earings' in the helmet slot.

Next up, you need to asign a binding to bring up armor locker and stream in the .pcc file in one.

In the coalesced.ini find the heading [SFXGame.SFXGameModeBase]
Add

Bindings=( Name="NumPadNine" , Command="OnlyLoadLevel BioD_Nor_000Cabin | OnTap 2.0 exec loadseq.txt" )

This will allow you to bring up armor locker anywhere and anytime in game when you press Numpad 9 key. You will need to do it prior to each mission load, or your armor will reset to default. Note that loading a save game also reset your armor to default, this is normal behavior since you need to stream in the .pcc to make the armor available first.

Save your coalesced.ini, run the .ini fixer, boot up the game and enjoy

P.S. I take no credit for the process, it's gathered over from Modding is Possible thread a long while back.

All the changes may look unwieldy and overwhelming, but they are so worth it! Here's a little something for motivation

Rheia, I have attempted it, but I have a couple of system things wrong with my computer, so I will try the Commando's outfit at my bf's and see if it works there. If not then I will send you a PM. Thanks for all the info though! And I will post some screenies of a Siha with Thane if I get it up and running!

And I will check it out now Verly. I only did the Origins for the dwarves.

And OT: Darker green stripes/tattooes. Does Thane have them?

Shame, because there are some really good texmods for Thane. I have heard rumours about a nekkid one for him. Hehe.

@Shanya messing with the files isn't that hard. Its actually quite fun, so long as you make a back up so when you make an oops, you have something to return too.

Right now all I dare to do is messing with that Gibbed editor. But I am also not on my computer and if anything, anything goes wrong I would realy not like to make exuses afterwards. Will probably try it tho when I get my hands on the brand new mine one (last one burned out... to much rendering done on pathetic little g-card or something... maybe it was to much of a Thane one? nah... there is never anything like 2 much Thane.) But hey, thank you for encuragement (probably misspelled it).

Does anyone know if Thane is confirmed as being in ME 3? This picture seems to imply that he will be.
