@kaimanaMM I can't say I'm worried about Thane yet either when reading between the lines of what's been said.

I do get a bit angsty when I come across the 'thane won't be in it cos he's dead' or 'they can't cure Thane, his death is what he's all about' posts. It's annoying because the signs are there in the game that he can and probably will (in some scenarios) be treated or cured.

I agree that he's quite popular, certainly more so than Jacob!

@gnas  I mainly play ME on 360 so that was not an option, I do now have it for PC so maybe I'll look into doing that sometime :D.

I've seen that pic wildannie! I love how Thane was drawn in the pic (and in the description I remember the artist saying something about how it was their first time to draw him :o) But I feel like talking about our reactions to if all our wishes Thane-related were granted. Mine would admittedly be something like this. :innocent:

Same here.

I tend to think however that death is definetly not what he is all about. Mmm, how to explain this...  I think that Thane is all about life. Yes, he accepts that he will die and yes, to some point in game he doesnt seem to have a problem with it but after "saving" Kolyat and after all the "love is the air" things... well, that abruptly changes, we can clearly see that when he visits Sheprard in her room for example, but even before that, it does seem that he rather in the presence, holding hands with Shepy, treasuring every single precious moment that they have left, than lost in memories, spending time alone and just stoicaly waiting for death to come. Anyhow, in him I see life, not death. I am preaty sure that I didnt express my view on it adequatedly but I hope you understand what I meant.

It's a really nice drawing, spot on without looking directly copied from a screenshot.

Yes, Shepard has changed his outlook, awoken him from his 'battle sleep' and given him one or two very good reasons to live.  This makes the prospect of dying harder for Thane because he has something to lose again.  He can choose to fight to be with those he loves by seeking the treatment he has previously refused.

Quick note tho that wasn't me just the dance i'd prolly do :B (clearly to the point Fruitcake is clearly to the point) and yes I see how Thane's character is about life as well so I definitely think that means he should live (mainly so that I can do the happy dance seen above) :wizard: plus, since I'm on a youtube surfing mood today I think I'll share the bees. It's funny but it's not, you know? xD

I really believe, after seeing and hearing what BW had to say / show at E3 that they're aiming for an amazing conclusion.  For every player.  I'm still chomping at the bit for Thane news, though.

CHOMP CHOMP!

Agreed. Thane is still part of the ME universe and its annoying when people say, well, he's dying so, whatever. :?
But I refuse to give up hope! Give me Thane or Earth and the Galaxy gets it! :D

I was surprised by how well spoken and gentle Thane was, for an assassin (also, the voice! ♥). I think he is the "deepest" LI in ME2 (just my opinion :) ), and I would hate to see him perish. I do hope he will survive, and perhaps curing him will be something like his mission in ME3? We will just have to wait and see, I guess.

I am wondering if and/or how Thane will be mentioned in ME3.
In ME2 we know Thane is dying and has some 12 months(?) left, and that is after we recruit him.
Yet I am unsure how long the SM takes to complete after we get him, but we have been told that ME3 will start 6 to 12 months after ME2. Will Thane have died already or be in a sick bed?
The way most ppl are talking I am unsure if they will let us cure him, and if that is the case my poor FemShep will be heartbroken :(

It is 8-12 months before his condition deteriorates enough that he won't be able to be effective in combat. And I have heard that ME3 takes place a few months after the SM. But I don't know if there was much of a time elapse between recruiting Thane and that conversation, and the end of ME2.

But he will still be around I'm sure. But if uncured then he won't have long left.

Also, Mr. Krios looks extremely distinguished there Image IPB. Love that pic.

Straight from the game:
Thane: "I mentioned when we met on Illium that I was dying. It's called Kepral's syndrome. It's not communicable, but I have less than a year to live."
Thane: "I should be fine for another eight to twelve months."

I think that when Thane says "fine", he means not dying.
Silly Thane.

It has been said ME3 will take place a few months after the events of ME2 BUT in the recent Q&A, they told us it was 6-12 months after the events of ME2.
I don't know whether one is incorrect, or they've changed it, or that when they originally said "a few months" they really meant up to a year.

There's no doubt, he's going to be back.
He was even mentioned specifically in the PC gamer interview a when it was being stated that 'everyone' was going to be in the game. What we don't know is how big a role he'll be playing but I doubt Bioware are going to want to let anyone down.

I'm hoping that there's going to be an element of choice as to who's on the squad, allowing players to pick those who make the most sense for their own shepard... for (most of) mine That's Thane! :D

I would hope so since Chris states:
social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/325/index/7625264#7625264

This forum is for fans to discuss the characters in ME3 and how a particluar character from Mass Effect 1 or Mass Effect 2 may return in Mass Effect 3. This includes major pary NPCs like Kaiden, Tali, Joker, Thane, etc and characters with a lesser role you would like to see return in some way.

Yey. A nice nod to Thane there in that quote. There is also interesting discussion on ME3 board about his popularity/critical acclaim and fan's reception. Good read.

Hum. A while back there was a question of how would you react if Thane got better/treated without input/effort on Shepard's part...  I can actually picture Kolyat, not Shepard being the major catalyst there, especially if the events between Arrival and ME3 would cause Shep and Thane to separate for a time.

Kolyat just strikes me as a more likely candidate to beat Thane over his head with the fact that he's acting stupid* by allowing Kerpal to run its course.

*I personally don't think he's acting 'stupid', but I can definately picture that a lot of my Shepards and Kolyat would be exasperated/frustrated by his take on the matter.
