Hey guys, on the ME3 forums there is a new character section. Thane appears to have a discussion thread on his romance and death in ME3, but not an actual character thread. All the other characters already have their own threads, and it will be a good way to keep ME3 spoilers out of this thread.

I am happy to be an OP. But what do you guys think?

Congrats to Aislinn and Holly Shepard!! It seems clear that in subtle ways, Bioware are noticing the fan support that Thane has. First the 'Cure Thane collaberation' that they have hung in their office, and now your vid on facebook!

So I am just thinking, those ridges that appear on Thane's neck. Do you think they are just on Thane's neck?

Hmm. That thing doesn't really have a name - wiki calls it dewlap, and it is apparent in lizards and other animals - but usually they just have it under their neck, so I don't think he has other similar things in other places.

Edit: It just occured to me. So does that mean that he can protract and retract it like anole lizards do?

They do mention that the folds are used to produce lower sounds that humans can't hear. So it's likely that it does inflate.

If I remember correctly, it says on the wiki that his concept was part tropical fish and part bird of paradise? For some reason I think of him more along the lizard/frog line. I think it's his skin texture and the hallucinogenic chemicals Drell secrete (Bufotoxin?) as well as his rather deep voice.

Yes, they did start out with tropical fish and bird of paradise, but it kind of evolved. They also used that fish man from Hellboy (I forget his name.. Ein?Eik? Something) as inspiration. And yes, the hallucinogens on the skin and the fact that their planet was a very arid desert-like place make me think more of lizards and frogs than fish and birds. Plus, fish don't have dewlaps. (And wouldn't develop Kerpal's because of the humidity in Kahje...)
