LOL!!!  I wouldn't consider him emo though.. more of a philosophical/deep type then a winey confused teenager.

Garrus is great. I even gave him his own Shepard so I could do his romance, and I pretty much take him and Thane everywhere.

Thane is the first and only character in a video game that I have become attached to. There is just something about him, or maybe it's everything about him.

Now that I think of it, parts of Thane's background are similar to Carth Onasi's from Kotor. (Dead wife, estranged from son).

This is one of the reasons some people say they have a problem with Thane. The whole dead wife, estanged son thing doesn't bother me because I've never played Kotor. It still wouldn't bother me even if I had. I don't know why it is such a big deal for some people. I know it's been done before, and it will probably be done again. It still just doesn't bother me. Maybe they could have changed it a little by making his wife alive instead of dead. They just aren't together anymore, or an estranged daughter instead of a son. It wouldn't matter to me. Out of all the things they gave Thane his illness is the one thing I could do without. I'm ok with everything else.

I agree with everything you said there. I really did'nt midn the "dark family business", but that illness was too much. XD

But Angst also makes the heart grow fonder, so.....  (for me) XD

Sorry, I think I used the wrong terminology. 

Not the orchestral flute, but the kind of "flute" that Elves play, a spiritual instrument, at least. *shrug*

Some of those instruments might be difficult for him to play because his middle and ring finger ar fused together. I'm not really sure what kind of instrument he would play.

I don't know if that illness was added for drama, or they just added it at the last minute. I wish they had come up with something else though.

Considering how much I love looking at his hands, I should have remembered that fact.  

I noticed a lot of people here complained that if Thane's illness was removed he would lose part of his personality, but in the end, he was pretty much dead "mentally and spiritually" until he met Fem!shep. Maybe his fear of dying in his romance scene would have not made as much sense, but I guess it could be interpreted as fear of dying/ losing Fem!Shep on the suicide mission...

@Gnas, Yeah. Thane would not be any different.

I do have a flicker of hope regarding him coming back though-Garrus was in a ME1 trailer and on the ME1 cover, and he arrived in ME2. hence with Thane in the trailer AND on the cover, he could come in ME3, or at least his chances are greater.

I do thing that the fans are part of the reason that Garrus ended up in ME2. Ashley isn't as popular as Garrus and I don't think her fans were as vocal until ME2. Then again Garrus may have made it into ME2 and 3, but Ashley will probably have the much bigger role and more screentime than Garrus.

I agree with you Jadedry. I hope the fact that they spent so much time and effort on Thane means that they aren't just going to toss him aside. They spent all that time creating him. He was on the cover and in the trailer, and he was one of the characters who got his own trailer. While he may not be the most popular character he certainly isn't unpopular. Thane is also the only one who got any kind of romantic content in LotSB. I still hope that is a good thing and not a bad one. I also still have hope for him in ME3.

There is a really nice love letter to Shepard from Thane in LotSB. The love letter is also a little sad too. Thane is the only LI that gets anything like this. Maybe someone can link you to it if you want to read it.
