@Sable...I have no doubt DA3 will be okay, but I personally have to stick to my guns. It's all the same company and I refuse to give them one cent more. If I decide I want to play it, I'll rent it or something, but I WILL NOT buy it. At this point, for me anyways, not only is it the treatment of Thane, Jacob, Samara and a few of the others, it is also about the treatment of the fanbases. These three fanbases, especially these three fanbases, have been ostracized by bioware and trolled uncontrollably. We have had to mod our own threads because no one would step up to help us. I have no respect or faith in bioware anymore.

So why do I come here? I have met some amazing people in BSN. Granted, I've also met some amazingly stupid people here, but the great ones far outnumber them. If I could get all these guys on my facebook page, I would probably never come back here.

But that's just me.

Yep. Pre ME3 Ashley + Thane = written by Chris L'Etoile.

re: Mums PT

We didn't get much playtime yesterday, just a few sidemissions.
Oh wait, we did recruit Samara & Tali. She was happy to have Tali back, and she's really taking a liking to Samara.
She was sad when we got her LM:

Her: What, the fugitive she is hunting is her daughter? I...that's...such a tragic fate. Can't we hug her or something? Seriosly Samara, you need a hug.

However, any sidemission complete = new conversations on the Normandy.
And...Guess what happened? This:

*Thane says: "You're the only friend I've made in ten years" *

After thinking a moment she says:

Her: Hmm "Just Friends?" huh? Very well. Let's see what happens!

*Shepard says: "Friends huh? That's a sart." *

*Thane answers:"A start? Thats...intruiging." *

Her: Now that was some comeback! "Intriguing" huh? Ditto for you too Mr "Intruiging" Krios! :3

Gotta remember, this doesn't mean we've "locked in" on Thane.
Truth be told though, I think she's written off Kaidan.

And she doesn't even consider Jacob interesting. Heh, she calls Jacob "Träbock" in Swedish, which transliterally means "Wooden ram" in English. Translated it means "a boring man". Good thing she didn't say "kåtbock" though. My sides would have hurt if she did that.

And Garrus, I don't think she considers him a choice yet, since he hasn't presented an oppurtunity to act on anything yet. I'm curious as to what she will do once she finds out though.

Downside though....the game has decided to invoke sadorandomness it seems: Completing one RM after another, we are unlocking the LMs, and weirdness ensue, despite Thane being recruited earlier than both Samara & Tali we still haven't recieved his LM. But we have recieved Samara's and Tali's. Go figure.. :/

@Emerald - Has Garrus' LM popped up yet? I always seem to have those two come up roughly the same time (which is helpful, since they are both on the Citadel), and it always seems to happen after I do Mordin's and Grunts LM's on Tuchunka....of course, play this game so many times, and it's easy to fall into that "tackle the missions in the same order" syndrome. XD

WAIT a moment!!! I just remembered something....I thought you could only get the "friend" talk AFTER his LM?? Bah. Maybe I really have been playing the order of missions so much the same, that I know longer can tell when certain dialogues CAN truly trigger.

Okay, so that wasn't very helpful of me at all. :P

Yeah, I was surprised at that too, I also remembered that the "Friends" dialogue doesn't trigger until after the LM*. Huh. Guess my memory was hazy on that one.

*/ Note: It showed up during the third conversation with Thane.

Wait...Now that I think about it, it seems that certain LI's (Thane/Miranda/Jacob) does have a "flirt line" prior to their LMs. Does Jack have one? I've yet to play Male-Shep so idk. I distinctivly remember that Garrus has no such dialogue prior to his LM though, and I have no idea if it's the same for Tali.

In case anyone is curious; I think our RM order was this:

Garrus, Mordin, Grunt, Jack, Thane, Samara, Tali.

And then the LM's unlocked in this order:

Jack, Mordin, Grunt, Samara, Garrus, Tali.

Funny thing is, we have unlocked all of the LMs besides Thane's. And, we've only done RMs and N7 missions so far. Then again, one more mission complete, and we will get Thane's LM. Still, it's a bit weird though :/

Hmmm.....that is interesting.

Question: Have any of you managed to trigger Horizon even before getting all the first RMs done (i.e. Mordin, Garrus, Jack, Grunt)?? I know that most say it is only triggered once those missions on done, but then there are others who swear that they have managed to trigger it while still having either Jack or Grunt still left to recruit....Since I play ME on the xbox and not the PC, I don't edit Thane in early, but I have always wanted to have him at least once for recruiting Jack and/or Grunt. Anyone ever have this occur?

Yes they were, and they both seem to suffer from their new writers. I'm not sure who wrote Ashley in ME3, but Thanes writer didn't have a clue about his character.

I'm just keep wondering if Bioware is ever going to fix what they did, or are they just going wait for all of us to get tired and go away.

Hmm...Now that you mention I *think* it happened to me once back in 2010 (on the Xbox); I had recrutited Garrus/Mordin/Grunt/Zaeed/Kasumi and Horizon triggered. I had not recruited Jack.

I think (again I could be wrong) it had something to with the number of "current squadmates".
Idk wether it was patched later or not, but on subsequent PTs I recruited everyone before Horizon triggered.

But I have no idea what happens if you use Gibbed to edit in Thane/Tali/Samara/Legion.
Haven't done so yet. (But I'll probably do it someday)

Thank Emerald! Apparently there may also be a trigger with what they consider "main missions", and believe it or not, talking to Anderson/Udina on the Citadel is considered one. I think as soon as I get Chase Shepard into ME2, I am going to try the following and see if it works:

1) Recruit Zaeed, Mordin and Garrus (as per usual) on Omega.
2) Go to the Citadel grab Kasumi and talk to Anderson/Udina (reinstate Spectre status)
3) Do a few side missions, then go and get either Jack or Grunt, and see if that will trigger Horizon.

I suspect that I won't be able to have it triggered with BOTH Jack and Grunt not recruited. BUT, perhaps Horizon will trigger while still one of them is not yet recruited.

I remember Utaker talking about some of the things that happen when you gibb in Thane early. He has a bit of a reaction for Mordin's RM. Don't know whether he says anything during Garrus' RM. Utaker also had some pics (if memory serves) of Thane on the prison ship, during Jack's recruitment. I would miss doing his RM properly. I really do like it. I just would like to drag him along for at least one of those other missions. :)

He has absolutely no lines on Horizon. Sad because I would have loved to hear him and Garrus have a few words with Kaidan.

I remember him having several lines on all the other missions though. IIRC he was supposed to be obtained early, but of course they changed their minds. Unless that's someone else. I dunno. I should be working.

LOL @mnomaha...I love making you goof off at work. That way I don't feel so bad when I goof off....*wink*
:D

Actually, I am ok with the idea of not having Thane with me on Horizon (though would have loved it, of course). Mostly I just want to see him in either Jack's RM or Grunt's RM. I just think it would be fun, and there could be some interesting dialogue. So, if I could get Horizon to trigger before either one of those RM's is tackled, then after Horizon I could zip off to Illium, recruit Thane, THEN have him with me when I get either one of those two. Here is hoping, but not expecting. :P

I don't know who wrote ME3 Thane.  ME3 Ash was written by Jay Watamaniuk.  Which initially struck me as weird since he also wrote Miranda, and I love Miranda to little bits.

Then it occurred to me that if you follow Ash's characterization from ME2, the way she acts in ME3 is just a logical continuation of it.  ME3 Ash's primary character traits are her distrust of Cerberus and loyalty to the Alliance, same as the ones she exhibited on Horizon.  Jay joined the ME team in 2009, after ME1, and started working on ME2.  No wonder his portrayal of Ash is more like her ME2 version than her ME1 version.

Fair enough.  We just have different perspectives on who's responsible for elements of ME3.  But we all love Thane.  And cookies.  COOKIES!

In DA related news, I finally finished my playthrough with my Warden who dies at the end of DA:O.  And was romancing Zevran.  His epilogue almost made me cry :crying:  ZEV I AM SO SORRY!

@Sable...some neeb names Chris Hepler (please note the spelling, he's not a helper) wrote Thane. Not sure about Ash though. He always wanted to write an assassin. He still hasn't. ;)

Pfft...We need some Antivan brandy too. And Neck Snaps. And wine. Look, there, cornucopia complete! :D

Psst you forgot <ridges>. And tattos. And Lyrium markings! :3

Er...I'm reminded yet again that I really need to finish that DAO PT...and then Awakening, and then the DLC...and then DA2...*welp*

(Gah! I'm going to be torn in my DA2 PT...Fenris or Anders? Anders or Fenris? *Sigh* Decisions, decisions...)

I would have loved that too. Bioware made such a big deal about consequences when there were none.

Thane did say he spoke to Kaidan.  I thought that was a little odd.
I don't know what they would have talked about.

I haven't played ME3 in a while so I can't remember if Garrus talked to Kaidan.

Aha! I knew my memory wasn't decieving me, here's a collection of Thane/Samara/Tali/Legion audio files for the early RMs if you don't feel like fiddling around in Gibbed:

http://social.biowar...5/index/8145470

(I will probably Gibb my saves anyway, since I'm a junkie for comparing cutscenes, and gibbing in Thane early sounds like a fun way to spice up that PT)

Fenris if you want a semi-decent boyfriend, Anders if you love tragedy and drama.  Oh, Anders.  You are a giant train wreck waiting to happen, covered in warning lights, and I romanced you anyway   Even though you are possibly the worst boyfriend ever.

Garrus does have a line to Ash/Kaidan on Horizon.  He sticks up for Shep and says the VS is too fixated on Cerberus.  <3 him so much.

I always take Garrus with me on Horizon and your right Sable he does defend Shep!

I've recruited Thane a few times a little early and he has lines when recrcuiting Garrus,Grunt,Mordin and Jack! But one of my favorite lines he says is during Garrus's rm when I leave Thane with Garrus to go close the shutters! "It's a sniper's heaven up here, but don't take to long with the shutters!" xD ...I love it when Thane says that lol!

@Sable

Haha! I'll see!
(I am slightly biased towards Fenris, if only because I have swooned to Emery's Voice since 2007 XD)

Truth be told, I'll probably romance all of the DA2 LI's in seperate PTs.
The question is which one will be the "canon" one...
That said, It will be slightly awkward when I choose to romance Isabela; My canon Warden did get to see what was "below deck" with Zevran. If you know what I mean.

Re: Horizon

Yeah, that's one of the reasons I always have Garrus with me on Horizon. His "Dammit Kaidan you're so focused on Cerberus you can't see the real threat!" Is ace. But bringing him gets me killed on Hardcore/Insanity. Dammit, Garrus Y u no good against Collectors on higher difficulties? :'(

I know I have a hard time beating Horizon with Garrus....sometimes! Last time I played I died like 7...8 times...ugh makes you want to pull your hair out lol! I usually take Garrus and Mordin....I have taken Jack with me and Grunt...but I usually beat it with Garrus and Mordin...but not everytime ;p

I've never taken Thane with me to horizon when I recruited him early...cause I heard that he doesn't have lines on horizon...is that true?
