I love that picture, but I swear, I keep imagining Thane doing the "Chicken Dance" at his wedding. XD

If I knew how to make animated art (or "art" at all...heh!), I would totally make the chicken dance happen. HA! :D

I agree with you about the nipple thing too coldi, but not seen much Feron art so thought he deserved some love anyway =P

So I went to see the Mass Effect: Paragon Lost anime last night at the European premier and I have to say... it was pretty awful!! So many people got up to leave throughout the screening and I was tempted to join them myself! It was a really poor story where they just threw in every cheesy storyline they could think of to make Vega seem like a big hero. Also I really disliked the way Krogan were drawn. I think it must have been made for a younger target audience... At least it wasn't a big waste of money, there were 2 episodes of a good anime on before that one!

Anyway, back on topic - I've been really busy with work and making a wedding cake recently, and am going to spend some time making a few things for MEM3, but I promise I will get back on the photo album project soon!!

Yay Beannie! Let me know if you need any help with the photo album (not that I have any idea on what kind of help you might need/want, but I'm throwing it out there...). :D

Also, would love to see a pic of the wedding cake you are doing once you are finished. I am contemplating doing a wedding cake as an anniversary gift. I only recently got back into baking, so I am a bit green right now....heh!

Interesting about ME: PL. Since the game itself felt like it was gearing towards a different (younger maybe) crowd, I guess it isn't terribly surprising that it turned out as you described.

Poor Vega.  I genuinely liked him in ME3.  In fact, I liked all of the new characters with the obvious exception of Allers, and even her I didn't find terribly grating in-game.  Character writing remains one of BioWare's strong suits when they aren't dicking around <_<

I'll probably take you up on that coldi! Once I've got all the screenies together, I'll need help with captions for some of them! And maybe writing a brief description of Shep's memories of each mission with Thane?

The wedding was at the weekend. It was so stressful making the cake though and it didn't turn out how I wanted it to! Plus I had to take it (in 4 parts - bottom 2 layers/top layer/decorations/toppers) on a train to get it to Glasgow!! And I had to take my paints to finish it in my hotel room! My arms were in so much pain I couldn't partake in the ceilidh dancing at the wedding! That's probably a good thing... =P

Well, this is what it looked like... very Scottish...

... even has a zombie in a kilt!

I was hoping that the anime would be a bit more serious, but never mind. It was only about Vega anyway! =P

@Sable I didn't like or dislike Vega... I don't think he added much to the story, but as we all know there were many problems with the story anyway! But knowing who his voice actor was beforehand, I just couldn't match the voice to the character in the game, it just didn't fit to me so I guess that made it harder to see him as a serious character...

I thought Freddie Prinze, Jr. did a bang-up job of Vega.  If only because it was a nice change from BioWare's tendency to reuse their favorite VAs.  It's always weird talking to Seneschal Varel in DA:A and hearing Zaeed's voice come out of his mouth.

I don't think Vega, Traynor, and Cortez necessarily added anything to the plot, but very few ancillary NPCs do for that matter.  Most of the time NPCs add a point of contact or empathy, and I found all three very engaging if a bit underused.  Though I wish they'd just stuck to the old cast and saved these new characters for a new game.  As it was, old and new characters alike got shafted.

About drell nipples... Has it been stated somewhere that drell don't  have them? Or that female drell don't have breasts? I know drell have a  lot of reptilian features, but don't they also give birth the way mammals do? Thane mentions something like "I think if we remembered the birth trauma, we'd never recover from it." Hmm, maybe hatching could be counted as a birth trauma of some sort? I don't know. :D And I haven't actually decided what I think about the whole breast/nipple thing. I like to imagine drell women looking gorgeous and feminine even without big breasts (hmm maybe because I'm a bit lacking in that area, myself? LOL) but it doesn't bother me when I see pictures of drell women with breasts. As long as we don't get to see female drell in game, anything goes. :)

@BeanieBat  A beautiful cake! And the zombies are, well creepy, but still, wow! :D

It's not that he wasn't good, it's just that I kept picturing him when I heard the voice and well, he's not exactly similar to Vega! Traynor and Cortez are different though, as they are part of the Normandy crew and not actually on your squad. I think Vega should have had a more relevant role. Having said that, the existing characters should have been developed a lot more, and that to me is much more important than Vega's character simply because he is new and to be honest, I wasn't too bothered about him. That may have been different if I had enjoyed the game and was paying more attention, but I played through most of ME3 with a fraction of the interest I had with ME and ME2.

Edit: @dragonslayer - thanks! Creepy was the plan! =P

@Beannie - consider my offer official then Beannie...just let me know what you need and when you need it. :)

@Dragonslayer - It is stated (the wiki does have the info, if you want to take a gander) that Drell do not nurse their young. Drell are born with a full set of teeth, and are able to eat solid food immediately. As for how they give birth, it is left up to interpretation (your own musings..) for the most part. Some people like referencing herpetology when determining the anatomy and biology of drells. Myself, I still imagine a somewhat mammalian approach to sex, conception, birth, but with reptilian overtones (if that makes any sense...heh!) However, even with some similarities with mammals, I follow all specific lore that they have given (minus the lore change to Keprals...my choice *sticks tongue out*) :P In particular, the lack of mammory glands or nipples, and a head full of teeth when born. ;)

**EDIT**

Forgot to mention: BEAUTIFUL cake Beannie!  Very well done.  Looked like a fun wedding to boot.  Posted Image

@Dragonslayer - Anytime, fellow drellicker! :) Breastless drell women work just fine to me....in fact, I think I'm kinda envious of them. Human females often fall into the "too small; wish for more" category, or the "too big; get these suckers outta my face so my back doesn't feel like it's breaking everytime I jog, play tennis, do boot camp, grumble/moan/rabble...." Sorry, got a bit weird there for a moment. (psst...guess what group I fall into.) >.< :P

Thanks coldi! I'll probably start on it again in a few weeks. It was a fun wedding! The band managed to mix Pink Floyd with ceilidh music, so that was quite interesting! =P

Ha! I literally just had a "female drell & breasts" talk on twitter!

For reference here's the relevant tidbit from the codex entry;
"They give live birth to their young who are capable of eating solid food from the moment they are born."

So, no reason for boobs, mammalian glands (nipples) etc.

However, I do have a small theory of my own when it comes to the body shape of female drell: I think they'd have rather wide hips. Since they give live birth, wide hips are mandatory.
But given the shape of the drell skull, I don't think they have a fontanelle like humans.
So by that logic, the birth canal would have to be wider than that of humans.

The drell probably do not have belly buttons either. But that's a whole nother lesson in biology.

@Beanie

A wedding cake with zombies and tartan? Awesome!

And uhm...I've got a Javik article to comment on *whistles casually*

Just for myself, I don't have a problem imagining drell with bellybuttons. Even animals that "hatch", still take nourishment from the yolk sac (as some reptilian and avian critters do), so I don't take issue with a drell embryo connecting to the mother for sustenance. So, I'm good with the bellybutton....plus I think it would be cute on Thane. Ya, I'm a dork. ;P

Hallucinogenic shots out of Thane's bellybutton. Oh! I'm there! I've got a little bottle of vodka all ready too. See? *holds up bottle*

And um. Hello everyone! Miss me? You didn''t by the looks of it. You've all been chatting up a storm! :D I feel so left out now. *sniff*

Bah, don't mind me. I'm just being even more melodramatic than usual. Ttom and all. bleh.

As for the female drell appearance. I've actually just been discussing this with TheJoe Black. You know, the wonderful man who'se been making all those pics of Thane beating the **** out of troleng? So I'll repeat what I told him: drell with breasts. Hell to the NO! They don't need them. Breasts only serve one biological purpose, and as drell feed their young solids from birth they don't need them. Also same for the larger hips, as I do believe they carry and deliver their young the same way we do, (the solid foods from birth suggests a fully developed offspring at birth, and the word birth suggests a mammalian pregnancy, at least to me) for further development I've always also said longer/wider neck ridges, but that's mostly because I headcanon that ancestral drell males used to grab on to the back of the neck (like lions) during mating. But that's what i think.

Personally I absolutely F******* hate it when an artist gives drell breasts. It's almost as if they were too lazy to think of a way to make them look female so they just glued a couple of beachballs to their chests. Bleh, I say. Bleh!

OMG Beanie! I'm so sorry! I didn't send you the screenies. Oh dear. You should have reminded me. I have them all ready to be sent as well! Both missions.

I do have to say that I absolutely LOVE that cake!!!! Zombie highlanders (lowlanders?)?! Total Win!!!!

What else have I missed. Um, I still don't understand what caused the lockdown. I know it was unnice behaviour but that's been going on since we started trying to save thane, so I have no idea what was so bad to set this off. But I like this thread. I should read through it since I only joined on page 114 of the ME3 thread.

Just to cheer everyone up......

Who here remembers the "turtling" convo we had. I was thinking about it a few days ago (while writing Invictus.. yes it's still going) and I couldn't stop laughing. :D

It wasn't this thread specifically.  The crapshow on the Miri thread triggered it, but TBH the devs should've cleaned up that forum ages ago.  It's been a mess since the ME3 release, if not before, and it got that bad because no one bothered enforcing the damn rules.  Users and devs alike.

I'll get sick if I try to take shots off Garrus, and have a crazy drug trip if I take them off Thane.  Maybe I'll just do shots off Zevran instead   It might make up for killing off the Warden who romanced him.

I'm sure Zevran would love that.

Miri thread huh? Yeah, they've been bloody terribly for a long time now. Something was bound to happen but punishing all of us. Yeah, that's a bad show. But we're still here. Just have to let everyone know we've headed back to the old forums. I only found out because mnomaha told me on facebook.

Thanks all! I was so worried about the cake when I was making it, I'm glad some people like it, cos I certainly didn't! =P

@myth and roxy - no worries, I've been so busy recently with holidays, cake and work that I haven't had time to do it anyway! And I still have to get my own screenshots too! =P I'll get back on it soon though, and will hopefully have most of it done by the end of the Christmas holidays (would be good to get it done in time for Christmas I guess, but I doubt that'll happen!).

And @myth - of course we missed you!!

Count me in for shots! =P
