@Sable - it's definately a case of YMMV. I am glad that you liked it up to the Coup (and Rannoch), but I had problems with the game right out of the box.
You're absolutely right that there are problems with the game right out of the box. The portrayal of Cerberus (and by extension Henry Lawson, TIM, and Miranda) is one of the things I hate most in ME3. And the glitches, the journal system, the navigation, autodialogue...I could go on for hours.
Then again, I did play and enjoy DA2 out of the box, and that game gave Obsidian and Bethesda a run for their money in terms of game-breaking bugs. IMO the story arcs during Palaven, Tuchanka, and Rannoch were good enough that they gave the first 2/3rds of the game some decent momentum, enough to push through all the suck.
But it's like using a car as a makeshift snowplow--at some point, there's enough suck that no amount of momentum helps. I hit the metaphorical snowdrift at Thessia. Some folks hit it earlier. It all depends on how long the bright spots of the game can carry you. And if you're romancing Thane, that's one fewer bright spot than folks who romanced an LI who actually got decent content.
