And thanks for checking out the blog this week! The sexism issue was not the easiest subject to tackle. For example, in my piece, I don't bother mentioning things like EDI's cameltoe since her design is simple fanservice, that the company has pretty much admitted to. We may not like it, but it's use was never denied. Where I had a problem, was in the character design changes between the three games. Physical changes for the sake of sexualization without characterization. And of course, the content differences between m!Shep and f!Shep regarding context and romance options.

That was a great article @Coldi! Very well written indeed! =D I really really hope BW reads it too - they can't argue with the evidence!

I do find it quite ironic that they changed FemShep's body etc in ME3 to try and make her more attractive, but I had to put a helmet on her to hide the fact that she looked like a dead fish... And I didn't realise that they changed her body shape depending on her outfit... that's pretty ridiculous.

Now off I go to look at Myth's screenies with, I'm sure, lots of Thane yumminess

Edit: @giftfish - had a look and it has changed from being 'currently closed' to 'now closed' and he's edited his post so it no longer says it will be opened again... so yeah, looks like they've given up on it. I'm not surprised...

Utter crap, imo.  I'm not one to absolve people of responsibility, and MANY posters definitely got out of hand there, BUT if it has been moderated sufficiently, things wouldn't have gotten to the point that they did.  The few people moderating these forums can't possibly keep up with the amount of posts made.  They need at least twice the staff, I'd guess.  Probably more.

Not to mention that the BSN site itself is horribly dated and insufficient at this point.  I bet that they don't open things back up until they transition to the new system.  If at all.

Convenient way to silence the masses.  The hardcore RPGers tended to frequent that forum the most.

Um, this entire board is sufficient to silence the masses. It's not especially public. Public is more...twitter, tumblr, facebook...but I've said it all before.

Can't wait until Thane gets here!!!

The truly sad thing is, there was some really wonderful things posted in those threads too. It wasn't all bash, moan, b**ch. Some humorous bits, some great art, well thought out debate and ideas. And I'm NOT just talking about the Thane threads. So very disappointed at this outcome. I kind of want to Gibb slap two people in particular right now!

They also decided that the "help" sections needed a change up. Well, I have already attempted to use said "Answer" section. Fail. The problem I was dealing with has NEVER been resolved, but there it is marked as "fixed" because more than one person posted on the same subject. I went in and posted again, that they needed to remove the "fixed" status, but nada. Not to mention, it's basically like logging into another completely different forum.

I think maybe we should "scrub" the Thane Threads, and take it over to HTL or something. We have a Thane thread there that is never used. So sad.

As long as it is more public then I'm all for it. I think we've been sitting in here and the rest of the world thinks we disappeared.

It's really sad though. It's sad that they feel its better to clean house than man up to their mistakes. And let me be clear...Thane was NOT a mistake. Jacob was NOT a mistake. Miss Effect 3 IS the mistake.

So true. It still really peeves me that Thane fans got nothing but trolling, and Jacob fans got nothing but silence.

Regarding Jacob, has there been any official word from BW on why they went in that direction for his character in ME3?

Even I, as a wannabe writer/fanfic writer, knows that if I did something like that to an unpopular character, people are going to cry foul.

For example, since I write SWAT Kats fanfiction: Lt. Commander Steele is a really unpopular character in that world. If I write him out of character, straight up butchering him, my beta and my readers would be going "WTH? That's not Steele at all! What were you thinking?"

Regarding the Cosmic Love column, I love the spot where they discuss unequal flirts when it comes to bro and femShep, and how Ash was unnecessarily sexed up. Oh, and having the females apologize for Horizon still make my blood boil.

You know, I agree. We need to be more public. That said, I'm not really a fan of the HTL, and frankly I'm never in there. Don't really like it at all. Then again with the way this place is going I'm not too happy being here, I've just gotten used to it and most of you guys are still in here anyway, so...

@coldi: Just read it. You did an awesome job! Level headed and fair to all parties concerned. I also applaud you for being able to keep your emotions out of the essay (except for that one rather objective paragraph). THAT must have been hard! VERY well done!

Also I've got the beginnings of an "Importance of Interactive Dialogue" blog going (one of the many, many tangents resulting from this section for the essay, that went a little..... ok, a LOT ... off track from the point of the essay, but is salvegable). I'll have it done after the essay.

And anyway, I want to give you girls a little gift:

(I'm too far south to actually get totality, but you can definitely see that most of the sun is being blocked out, since there is only a small amount of glare compared to what is usually there... got photos for that too.)

I didn't get a picture of it, but I did have an excellent view. We could see it perfectly behind the rather sudden clouds that hadn't been forecast. It was awesome!
