Hi everyone, it's been awhile, I was on family holiday on the weekend, and then when I got home on Sunday I found myself stricken with a bad case of UTI that later developed into Pyelonephritis.

Long story short: I spent late Sunday to early Wednesday in hospital. Bleh. But I'm back, even if I'm a bit tired, and like Kal'Reegar said on Haestrom: "I'm swimming in antibiotics".

At any rate, a lot to catch up on here...

I've yet to read the article (chop, chop Emerald!) but if you still have need for comparison shots of outfits I can provide them. As for action shots of bro-shep, I could give it a try, I have a save-file of my brother's Shepard right before the Cronos base. And the Jacob piece...ack! I'm still working on that one...


re: Fanbook pages


I still have the layout files so I can easily put together the pages digitally. As for physical, printed pages...that's more difficult for me. Perhaps if there is someone with either access to a proper printer/printshop, I could send the digital files (when finished) to them.

Also, on a slightly relate note, I've had an idea regarding the fanbook but I have not said much about it since I knew the fanbook was still being worked on (And the idea can only be finalized once the fanbook is done).
But now that the fanbook is discussed, I figured sharing the idea can't hurt.

Seeing as the Thane fanbook is a collection of fan-works showcasing love for Thane, I thought that getting copies of it to Farley and L'Etoile could be a good idea; both of them have played a big part in creating Thane.

Now, two extra physical copies are probably not feasible, both economically and logistically (shipping, printing costs etc) but, digital ones are.

The idea I had was to get ahold of two USB flashdrives, set them to "read-only", and then put a .pdf version of the Thane fanbook on them, as well as including nods and references to the other Thane projects in forms of links and such.

In addition, if I could learn how to make custom USB cases, the USB flash drives could become stylish and Thane themed

From the tutorials and How-to's I've read so far on making custom USB cases, it's rather easy to do, so long as one is careful when handling the USB's chip and connector.

So, what do the rest of you think?

Personally, I figured that giving appreciaton to both Farley and L'Etoile is appropiate even if neither is part of BioWare, that and imo, the two of them are coincidentally 2/3 of the reasons I love Thane.
(The last 1/3 is owed to the design-team that created Thane's appearance)

*Sigh* I shouldn't be surprised about the shut-down at this point...

On one hand, making use of this thread is not a bad idea, it is in a more public area of BSN (even if it is obscure) than the groups. Making use of tumblr, twitter, fb etc, is also good. Like you pointed out @mnomaha, no rules as to what can/can't be said on those outlets.

So, use any applicable outlet I say. On that note, I am a member on HTL too (same uername as here), I have not posted much on HTL, but I like the forum overall.

re: Mum's PT

Since I got sick, we haven't progressed on that PT at all. I still need to jot down/translate her impressions from what's been done so far (LM's & Firewalker). Overlord is up next on the PT.

A very tasteful image, too, I believe. I can't understand how the moderators would even conceive of having a problem with this since it is obviously an artistic nude- ish piece. Not that they come in here anyway.

I know that Mr Farley would just love it! Or at least I think I do. He definitely seems like the kind of man who would appreciate it. :3

I'll send it too you before I leave for NZ. it will be finished by then. i know that yamainu was going to print them out herself since she works at a print shop, but cosmo also offered to start fundraising to get it printed, and then send it on herself. But like i said i lost yamainu's reply to my email in the mountain I still have to go through so as soon as i find it I can update you all on the status of the physical printing of the book.

I will let her know tomorrow, if she doesn't spy these before I have a chance to inform her. I still haven't learned how to use the slide show function. *derp*

Just remembering all the facts about femShep's LIs makes me mad again. In one way they make female players feel like they're not as important as male players, then it feels like they want to make femShep canonicly lesbian, then they push you on the path to their pet.

Very infuriating.

As for the shutdown of the character boards, I'm sort of ticked. What if I don't want to join groups? Sometimes I like reading debates on different characters, and groups don't provide that. All the forum needed was better moderation.

The bolded part I would definately agree with.  There were some great posts/threads that started in that section of the forum, and "Groups" feel too exclusive.  Or non-inclusive.   Plus, a lot of newcomers don't really understand what Groups are.  It's not like an easy laid out list, the way the Forums are set up.  And not all groups make it clear what they are on about.  Plus, some are private, and most (if not all...can't remember) need an approval to join.  I admit, I don't know all the ins and outs of the Groups, but they always felt "farther" removed from the rest of the BSN. (It should be noted, I do belong to some groups, and do post and view them.  Forums are admittedly a preference for me.) Trying to link something in a group to a thread in the forum doesn't seem to work all that well either.  But when we had the Character Section on the Forum, you could easily point someone to that section or a specific thread on it. 

Yes, yes, I'm sure I am making a bigger deal out of the difference between a Group and a Forum Section, but it is still how I view it.  But then, I'm not sure what sort of forums and threads they want anymore.  *sigh*
