I'm going to need a lot of support from all fanbases. So if anyone is friends with miranda, garrus, kasumi, jack etc...
hopefully they all pitch in for support.
because, I know right now, it's going to be :devil:W.A.R.

It's about a way to save Thane. Warning: the thread was spotted and attacked by some of those people saying "Thane should die, because thanks to that the game is deep, realistic and mature".

An interesting idea was posted here: How Thane could (or could not) have been saved

Very interesting concept, surely. Glad to see it posted by a "non-Thane" person.
And, no, the "he was going to die anyway" folks will never be convinced, so might as well save your breath....and blood pressure, lol.

To me, playing ME3 feels most of the time like "Make a wise choice -> save a character. Make an obviously stupid choice -> lose a character." I can't explore every aspect of the game without making my Shepard seem like an idiot. So in a way, I feel like I'm forced to save certain characters because letting them die would simply be immersion-breaking. For example, I think Tali's death scene is beautiful and I wish I could get it in some of my playthroughs, but I can't bring myself to choose the geth's side knowing there exists an option for peace. Thus I understand why some players want to have unavoidable deaths. But personally, instead of them, I wish there were more deaths that worked like this: sacrifice character X to save character Y, or vice versa. Tuchanka mission is my favorite example of this. It's not too simple, like the choice in Virmire. Your previous choices have an effect on who you can save.
So I think a good compromise regarding Thane would be to make someone else die if he lives. Even if it is something as simple as: [Protect the salarian councilor] / [Help Thane]. Helping Thane could lead to the death of the councilor and perhaps even one of your squad members. Those who want more deaths are happy, Thanemancers are happy, and those who want Thane dead have a good reason not to help him. Though I doubt they'll ever make this kinds of changes to the KL fight, the possible cure for Thane could include a same kind of hook.

Emeraldfern approves +100
I will drop a comment for sure on that one. I just need to gather my thoughts.
@PieGriller (or is it ok to say Lucy?
Hm. Dunno what to feel in regards to the (unusually) high number of writers on the next DLC. A part of me is optimistic (as always) and another is cynical. I really hope my cynical part is proven wrong. Time will tell I suppose. :/
Oh and mum's PT will be updated.
To tell the truth, RL for both me and her has been swamped.
And the recent writing-heavy school work really drained my energy when it comes to writing so I've got some mental recharging to do so to speak. Then it's "back on track" for me regarding the PT.
[Edit] Regarding the USB idea, I'll take the support for the idea as an "Aye" then. So @myth, just poke me when the book is done, and I'll look into it.

@mnomaha I understand the temptation... I just can't bring myself to engage with BW devs :/
@PieGriller that *is* alot of writers but I really don't expect that any of them will be working on new Thane content although I can't help but hope...

I stumbled upon this thread via google after I spoiled myself the circumstances of Thane's death in ME3 (though I am only finishing up Suicide mission in ME2).
It is relevant that I say I am in THAT time of the month and I am extraaa sensitive to everything, but the way writers handled his departure just broke my heart. I am not even kidding, I have been depressed the whole day and avoided any social contacts and I will definitely wait a few days before I continue my playthrough...
And it wasnt just in-game death that upset me, I even started questioning ours... It's an awfull feeling and I have BW's writers to thank for that!
Sorry for the rant, I probably will feel stupid after some time to even post that, but I had to do it. It had a therapeutic effect on me
And now that I'm done with that I'll go see what's been happening all these 500 pages...Or at least the last few.

Hey there and welcome! when I first found out about Thane's treatment in ME3 it really was a gut punch, and I felt really really low once I actually experienced it first hand, being forced to roleplay a bereaved protagonist that I had imported across two games felt like a violation, I know that sounds dramatic, but thats how it felt, I cried for all the wrong reasons. Anyway, its late and I'm rambling, but you're absolutely not alone. The ME3 character forum was locked down a month but that is where the Thane protests started out.

Many of us have participated in a number of projects (posters, fanbooks etc) to take our minds off it and try and encourage some response from BW, to no avail.
also please check out @thanekriostour on twitter, feel free to follow too

Hello!
Well don't worry your not alone at all, I was depressed as well after what they did to Thane...believe me alot of Thane fans didn't expect the middle finger as well as the Jacob fans but that's what they/we got and if they don't fix it they will regret it big time!
Like giftfish said visit the Romance DLC thread, alot of people want it and maybe just maybe that will get BW's attention to to do one and give us not only extra time with Thane but an option to save him!

So groups are dormant, and sometime I feel it could get too segregated. What if a Thane and Jacob fan wanted to compare notes? I doubt that could be accomplished with groups.
But it does feel like BW wanted to shut certain fanbases up. If it was just Liara threads with "Deal with it " pics, I doubt it would have been closed.

For those of you who haven't been following, the new version is now out. For the next version, Fob is thinking of adding ME2's female LIs (Jack and Miranda) to the memorial scene. This is cool because they don't have models for that in-game level; they weren't intended to "exist" in that level. If they can be modded into the level, that's good news for potentially modding Thane into, say, the Normandy's medbay after the Citadel Coup.

Majchiku! Welcome! We have cookies, grog, and <ridges> aplenty.
Don't worry about feeling this way. It's perfectly natural. We all cried for days when he died, and most of us still do if we ever watch his death again on youtube. None of us have ever played the game again though. Well, except DineBoo. And me, I had to do my Garrusmance pt afterwards to see what the Ending debacle was about. I couldn't do it with Margurite. The poor woman is still sitting in life support bawling her eyes out, hugging her Stradivarius.
Oh, Emerald! Mnomaha and I told you to stay out of hospital! *HUGGLES* I'm glad you're feeling a bit better now. I'd send you flowers and cookies if I knew where you lived to help make you feel even more better. (I would also say that crappy grammar was to make you smile if it wasn't for the fact that I didn't do that deliberately

I know all of you have been through this already, losing such a great character, but I am only just at the beginning.
This is the only place I can complain since none of my friends play ME and I would probably just sound stupid obssesing over the loss of a fictional character...
And I would gladly check out what's happening in relation to thane, so keep posting the links
Oh, and if someone could please tell me a quick summary on what BW response was..If there was even one. Or if there was even a slight acknowledgment from their side? Anything?

This is SO beyond cool. I am incredibly grateful to this team for working on this.
Some person in one of the threads was talking about certain voice solftware, that as long as you had a good sample of someone's voice, it could emulate it quite well and generate new dialgoue. Not to mention having a decently large set of dialogue from ME2 and part of ME3. Between this and the ability to insert new cut scenes, and create ME machinimas that Fob linked, if BW doesn't come through with some alterations to Thane's story, it seems like we might really be able to make it happen on the mod-end.
We'd still need some really talented and serious Thane fans to assist Fob's team, but I'm guessing that we could get Kirrahe to take Thane's place in the TrollLeng fight (even with Thane alive), get him added to the pre-Beam set of LIs, have a decent Love scene added, remove the current Love Scene, alter the hospital dialogue, add him to the med bay on the Normandy (and maybe Kolyat, also?), put him at the Memorial Wall Scene with Shepard adding Anderson's name, and who knows what else. It would be great to get some ACTUAL content for him added, but just fixing these things would actually allow most of us to replay the game with some amount of satisfaction.
