Oh, and....we added Gears' Samara commission to the blog artwork gallery -- and I gave it a freshening up :)

Check it out!

Speaking of replacing of Thane with Kirahee, I wonder why we couldn't opt to have Kirahee save the councilor if Thane was alive?

Kirahee wasn't seen after Surkesh, was he? Or mentioned after the coup? All he was is a war asset. Why couldn't, at a critical point, alert Kirahee that the Salarian councilor was in danger? If alerted, he takes the bullet, keeping Thane and the councilor alive.

Just thinking. The whole mechanics of the coup just seem odd. Thane gets killed if alive, but you don't get anything more from Kirahee except war assets. At the very least they could have had Kirahee giving you intel or something after the coup.

Thanks everyone for support!
I know all of you have been through this already, losing such a great character, but I am only just at the beginning.
This is the only place I can complain since none of my friends play ME and I would probably just sound stupid obssesing over the loss of a fictional character...

And I would gladly check out what's happening in relation to thane, so keep posting the links :)

Oh, and if someone could please tell me a quick summary on what BW response was..If there was even one. Or if there was even a slight acknowledgment from their side? Anything?

Responses? Well Chris Pristley, the er, tool, that he is said something along the lines of "keep your hope alive, unlike your boyfriend". Official response? I've seen more activity at an empty graveyard. At midnight. We get the same old bio.droning response of "derp, Thane dies like a bamf" and "Thane went out like a boss". Which is funny because I thought they said bosses were too "video gamey".

Anyways, we also have a facebook page, the link is in my signature. And welcome!

I know bioware is hoping to silence us but for some of us (like me) it's not really possible. :D

There is no way you are ever going to make sense of the coup. There wasn't any then and there isn't any now. It was a stupid, lazy, sellout way of murdering a character, beyond the mangling already done by Hepler. I say beyond because, well, considering the way he wrote Thane, there's no way he could have done this by himself. This goes way past his sucktacular abilities.

If you play through ME3 with Thane dead, Kirrahe mentions he's being reassigned after Sur'Kesh to security detail for the Councilor.  That's literally the only difference.

I wish it'd been more like the Dr. Chakwas/Dr. Michel thing for Normandy's doctor; it doesn't just default to one, you get to pick.  Say if you have both Thane and Kirrahe alive, you can encourage one or the other to be more active in defending the Citadel.  (The two being about equal in capabilities since Thane is the better assassin but Kirrahe's in better health.)  Whichever one you pick is the one who dies during the coup or something.

On the modding front, I think it's best if we let Fob stick to ME3Explorer and MEHEM for the time being, since he's got a lot on his plate.  It'll be an interesting proof of concept to see what he can and cannot change; that'll inform us how much is possible for modding Thane.

I wasn't suggesting otherwise.  I'm not clear though, whether or not something like this willbea priority for them -- it might not be something they want to deal with.  Due to it appealing to a smaller, or at least specific audience.  Or, it might be something they are willing to assist in, if someone else wants to take the reins, so to speak.

We'll have to wait and see how things unfold :)

Well we managed to get Thane into the top 10! And I just noticed that Chris L'Etoile donated to the marathon despite being unemployed this year! Such a nice guy! I think he definitely deserves some Thane appreciation love! =]

I wish Chris L'Etoile stayed. Everyone he wrote suffers without him. Ashley is not finished, Thane is dead, Legion is dead. -_-

I don't imagine it'll be a priority since the ME3Explorer team came together over the mess that is the endings, and most of their modding tools have been designed with that in mind.  That said, the ability to mod the last 20 minutes of the game allows for inserting Thane into the ending and removing his memorial slide (which I got even when I played with Kirrahe sacrificing himself).  Now the problem becomes the Citadel Coup.

I suppose if you can trick the game into always choosing Destroy, you might be able to trick the game into thinking Thane's dead starting with the Citadel Coup.  He'd probably still be "dead" in the game's flags from that point on, but it wouldn't actually happen in-game.  MEHEM figured out how to remove names from the memorial wall, so that problem's already fixed.  And if the model insertion of Miranda and Jack during MEHEM works, it should be possible to stick Thane on the Normandy.

Also, the stargazer scene is just a cinematic.  It'd be possible to replace it with another featuring Shep and Thane if anyone has cinematic skills.  Bang--very crude mod, with no need for any particularly fancy voice work or fiddling about with the existing audio files.

At least Legion was still recognizable as the same character in ME3 and reasonably well written.  Much better than can be said of Thane or Ash.

I don't know about Thane, but Ash was originally written in ME3 pretty much in character. But a lot of stuff with hits on her personality from ME1 were either cut or bugged. As a result, we have an OOC.

I was unaware of that, actually.  I wondered why the character seemed so much more skeletal (figuratively speaking) than her ME1 rendition.  What exactly did we lose out on?  Banters?  Full conversations?

Well, leaked script was cruel for both Ash and Thane, but she called Shepard Skipper (if romanced) more often.
Conversations, I know only three:
1. About Shepard's death and what he remembers "from other side"
2. After Sanctuary
3. Dialogue after coup was different.
Here (scroll down for English text):
http://www.masseffec.../publ/6-1-0-130

Fully recordered parts of dialogue, bugged. Full list here:

Plus, two very rare scenes:

Still no offitial comment.<_<

I don't think we're ever going to get an official statement on any of the problems. They are just burying their heads in the sand and are praying that we go away.

As for the mods, I think I offered back when Version 1 was released that if they ever decided to do Thane that I would write him and Kolat for them. Thane would be a bit difficult, but Kolyat would be damn easy since I've been, and still am, in his position. I've got a lot to draw from. Which is very sad, really.

I'm very hopeful though, that if we can get him on board, that we might finally be able to mod something that will give us a satisfactory experience, or a happy one, since story is without a doubt more important than graphics.

Hey, even for the ending cinematic, we could get out fellow fans and artists to animate one. It doesn't even have to be CG. I'd be happy with traditional animation. Or even traditional animation using 3dMax or whatever!

Truthfully the more I hear about it, the more hopeful I become that we can actually do something ourselves, and leave BioWare out in the cold where they should be.

Truth be told I also do not believe that Thane's content was peer reviewed. I refuse to believe that no professional writer was able to look at that and go: "You know, this is kinda bad." Or at least, I want to believe that. :S

Oh hey, while I think of it, does anyone know if Liara did a "cheating allegation" in ME3 the way Kaidan did? I don't remember, and I don't have a Liara-dumping Thane-loving pt.

That's what he said on the webpage anyway...

"I'm unemployed this year, so I can't provide as much monetary support
as in previous marathons. I'm still stumping for you as best I can! :)"

It could very well be someone posting as him, but I know that he does support the marathon. When he found out Dan proposed to Dan during the marathon he linked the 'Paramour' achievement on facebook saying something along the lines of 'Congratulations, achievement unlocked!'.

Wow.  That's...a lot of missing dialogue.  Good dialogue.  She was one of my favorite squaddies in ME1, but a combination of her dialogue scarcity in ME3 and its one-track ZOMG CERBERUS content (especially unromanced) made me kick her off the Normandy in ME3.  I probably wouldn't have done that with the cut/bugged content.

...ok, random thought time.  There's nothing for cut content, but maybe it's possible to poke around and find the dialogue flags for the bugged lines?

Random note: glad I didn't buy Omega.

Another random note: I am getting tired of Bioware releasing new Asari in MP. The drell won't show up until january now by the looks of it. But we got 5 asari to chose from now!

Last note. I MISS THANE SO MUCH.

I miss him too.... very, very much. I'm considering starting a new playthrough of ME1 and ME2.

Don't get upset about MP. They'll release the drell last, because he is the most awesome and most anticipated character, from what I've seen here at BSN. At least in MP drell get some love.

So Thane isn’t even an OPTION in the Wii U version? Really? REALLY?!

Posted Image

I don’t why this should surprise me anymore.  I’m finding it harder and harder to believe they will ever care about what they’ve done to Thane. All they have done is try to sweep him under a rug and I guess they finally succeeded with this version.  As angry as I am though at least this is a sort of admission on their part that his content was far too embarrassing to include.  Can you imagine a newbie picking Thane in the comic and then watching  the “romance” play out? Maybe this was Bioware’s attempt at stopping another flood of dissatisfied femshep players.

Im not sure if you all have already seen/heard this, if so please forgive me :) but since there's been talk of modding and finding an option with the voice acting I thought this would be a nice addition:

Fan's Thane voice acting:

There's little information on the voice actor in the uploader's comments.

I really have no idea if this has been already disscussed...so please enlighten me.

No way, they did a fantastic job and they're proud of it. ;)
Evidence: I was just reading a random thread about Omega. One person, when complaining about it, quoted a moment from Thane's death scene, saying that it was the moment he was willing to replay the game 10 times, because (propably, that's how I understood that) this was such a powerful scene.

I hate it. I hate when people point at Thane's death and say that it was an example of a good writing, of a wonderful, deep, engaging story. Makes me want to respond with a quote from my favourite (after all) character: "Sorry, I'm having trouble hearing you. I get a lot of bulls**t on this line".

--------------------

Oh my gods... this is so stupid, yet I can't stop laughing:

Crap...I had a reason for stopping by (besides Thane love <3). I know some of you have romanced other characters besides Thane...now, now...just admit it. You'll feel better. :D

But I digress....my point is, I NEED SCREENIES!! In particular: Garrus+F!Shep, Jacob+F!Shep, and Jack+M!Shep. Anyone???? *echo* ;)

If you would help an old lady out, I would be forever greatful, and send you Thane wishes, and green-scaled dreams! :D (and yes.....this is for the Cosmic Love blog)
