^Considering that ME3 Character forums are locked, I think Bioware will pretend that everyone just stop caring on that so won't bother to fix it.

I mean, how many people talk about ME characters outside groups on BSN and aren't plot related for ME3 Story Section?
And how can you talk about problems on this characters on Twitter?

Yeah, Bioware pretty much shelled themselves from negative feedback.

I'm sorry but you're most likely setting yourself up for massive disappointment if you hope the next DLC will in any way be fair to Thane/Jacob fans, let alone female gamers at all. Besides, that'd require editing the actual game a lot, can that even be done?

I'm done hoping for them, not letting them disappoint me again. If they bothered at all with the ME2 people they'd have said something by now.

Most likely they'll only fix Miranda and Jack in that case, since they're the most popular after the "main LIs" it seems.

Miranda is the most popular after the main LI's. Jack really is not any more popular than Thane.

It would be completely unfair for them to fix Miranda and Jack and not try to fix Thane and Jacob. Bioware hasn't made much effort to fix anyone form ME2 including Miranda and Jack. They seem to have forgotten that ME2 existed.

I'm not getting my hopes up that they will fix anything. They just want to keep pretending that everything is fine and that they put out a great game.

Mornin' Drell lovers and friends of Thane! I've come to 'pimp' the blog....due to an oversite on our part, we are running a special Character Spotlight, in place of the usual Focus Friday.  The submission is courtesy of @Scotiej, and is all about one of Chris L'Etoile's other character creations: Ashley Williams.  If you get a chance, go give it a read.  .....and Thank you, for your support!Posted Image

It likely would be easier to add content for Jack and Miranda since those romances are still legitimate.

- they both grant the paramour achievement
- the choice is present to continue those relationships

I like Jack and Miranda and I'd be happy for fans of those characters if they got more content (I include myself in that) but at the same time I think it'd be messed up to grant them more content while continuing to ignore the utter mess they made of Thane and Jacob.

BioWare actively decided to delegitimize those two relationships.

- Neither grants the paramour achievement
- With Jacob, there is no way to continue and they practically slap you in the face with that fact.
Not only did they make Jacob cheat, he got another woman pregnant. That can't be hand-waved away unless they change it so he doesn't cheat at all. The stuff with Brynn would be fine if he isn't romanced but it shouldn't happen if he is in a romance with Shepard. That's the only possible way to salvage that relationship.

With Thane there's the illusion of choice and the idea that there's some semblance of a relationship left when there really isn't. Aside from the (clearly tacked-on) paragon interrupt kiss and groping session by the window there's very little content that references the relationship. Thane's 'goodbye' dialogue is also really ambiguous to me - "We always knew it would end".

I still can't decide if that's some sort of vague break-up line. Technically, the last time Shepard can really talk to him again is when he's on his deathbed and aside from Thane calling Shepard 'Siha' once or twice there's really nothing to differentiate that moment from the friendship path. The lack of any sort of "I love you" really struck me as well.

BioWare would have to do quite a bit of work to salvage the Thane and Jacob romances and I'm just not sure if they care enough to do it. I still can't understand why they felt the need to trash those two relationships in the first place. If it was a resource issue it really reflects badly on BioWare that only FemShep exclusive love interests were given the axe.

Still, I'll keep my fingers crossed for all the ME2 characters in future DLC. Maybe BioWare will surprise us in a good way.

@Cold Thanks for the link! I have a soft spot for Ash.The one time I played as manShep she's the one I romanced. I never really finished that playthrough (stopped at ME2 and won't import to ME3) since my canonShep playthrough of ME3 killed my enjoyment of the game along with any desire to replay the single-player campaign.

@Julia I agree with what you said...I'm usually optimistic but I feel more pessimistic than ever, mostly because we get ignored and trolled. That doesn't mean I have no hope for a "Save Thane option" just that BioWare has shown how little they care about how much they have disrespected female players, and those that romanced Thane and Jacob.

But maybe we will be surprised with a ME2 character DLC,I'm not giving up just yet.

I had to comment in a thread that wanted a Miranda DLC. Mostly cause the title said "We want it."

By the gods, at the moment I think the worst thing Bioware could do is a ME2 DLC that only deals with some of the characters. It almost terrifies me.

Dealing with only a few ME2 characters would still be a terrible move, even from a pure business point of view. Why on Earth would you want to upset a large part of your fanbase? *sigh* I'd honestly like to say that they're not stupid/crazy enough to do it, but I'm not so sure anymore.

I don't understand. Bioware has clever people in it.

I don't see why Bioware would and should do a dlc for Miranda and Jack. They have made no indication that they care about any ME2 character.

Have they said Miranda and Jack are getting something new?
How many more dlc are left for ME2 anyway?

Not to mention there are Liara fans on there saying "No there should be a Liara DLC, I hate Miranda"  ...*scoffs* go figure.

Ok. No offense to Liara, or even Liara fans, but if there is yet another piece of DLC, comic, etc, that is dedicated to her, I will punch a puppy.

They haven't mentioned any dlcs about ME2 characters, no. But I'm starting to expect the worst anyway. Partly cause the larger fanbase (or just louder) a character has, the more it feels like... well, a "threat". xD

If I'm being cynical, I'd say it's because they've already upset those segments of the fanbase and clearly give exactly zero f***s about it.

If I'm being more charitable and realistic, I agree with Julia.  It's less work to expand Miranda and Jack's relationships, and Miranda in particular has a much larger fanbase to work from.  It would be considerably more work to fix Jacob and Thane, and more importantly, it'd involve a tacit admission of messing up in the first place (think EC mentality.)  They did it for the EC because everyone from Forbes to BSN to normally supportive gaming news sites were yelling for it.  Not so much for Thane or Jacob.

I don't hate Liara or the Liara fans but I can't stand those that think Liara is the most important and only worthy character of the game, especially when they throw out those "Deal with it" pics...it's very rude.

Sorry guys, just dropping in to gently remind folk about the photo album. I'm going to be working on it over the Christmas break, so those who have not sent me screenies yet - if you could send them before the end of December, I'd appreciate it! If you don't have time though, just let me know and I'll leave adequate space and all that =]

Details are here http://social.biowar...scussion/22265/ those marked with 'R' are missions I have received the images for. I haven't seen a few of the volunteers around here recently, so will try and track them down and see if they still want to take part.

@Sable: *sigh* You're right, of course. Time, resources, they have to focus on what's going to work best for them, aka pleasing as many people as possible even if it means leaving others on the side. We saw how they butchered Jacob's romance simply because he didn't have enough fans.

I think that's one of the reasons why she irritates me so much at times. It's sad, it's not even her fault.

I haven't seen any indication that they are even planning on expanding on Miranda or Jack. I haven't seen any proof that they care about either character or anyone from ME2. It seem that they only care about the crew from ME1. While Miranda does have a large fanbase that didn't stop them leaving her off your squad.

I just don't think they care enough to do anything for any character in ME2. I would love to be wrong though.

That has to be one of the most annoying things about it.

I'm not that surprised that some of them have that attitude. Bioware has pretty much told them and the rest of us that Liara is the most important character behind Shepard. She's their favorite, and she has her own dlc. She is still the only character who can't die.

With thane’s treatment I can chalk it up to them forgetting about his LI status and then quickly tacking on a quick romance. I don’t find it acceptable in any way but I can at least imagine what was going through their minds (or wasn’t) when they had to quickly incorporate something into the unavoidable death sentence they gave him.  I don’t think this was maliciousness on their part just laziness.

With Jacob however, that was completely mean-spirited . Like they went the EXTRA mile to give femshep a giant middle finger.  There’s no excuse they can give for THAT. With Thane they mutter that they “forgot” or that there were "time restraints". Again, not good excuses but it at least EXPLAINS why the content is so lacking .With Jacob? I want to see that question asked at a panel one day.

“What made you decide that only Jacob would cheat on shepard out of all the LI options in the game? Did you have future plans to have the only black squad member cheat on shepard when you created him in ME2?”
then watch em squirm Posted Image.

@Hyrule_Gal: They would probably pull something like "We're not taking questions about Jacob" like they did with Thane.. BTW does anyone remember what that person actually asked? I can't remember..

I think it's pretty sad and pathetic that after creating Thane SPECIFICALLY for female players, they say they forgot about him being an LI. Really tells you how much they care.

Also on twitter Tully asks what your favorite part of ME2 was... Go forth!
