They also explain a of the problems with constructive player dialog on BSN. Half of females here haven't romanced Thane, and 90% of the males haven't. Most of them will not have seen his change in character due to the romance, AND, if the player tends to go renegade and the mission with Kolyat goes badly, Thane will basically stop talking to them after the mission, period. Especially if they choose renegade conversation options. Had to YouTube that awhile ago, b/c I just can't bring myself to go renegade during fail the LM, lol.
I just couldn't do that to Thane at all...let him down wether it be a Femshep or a Mshep,I hate to see his life be ruined even more.Anyways I agree that is some very cool statistics,Thanks for all that you and the others have done over there on the blog! ♥
I read the FF; interesting stuff indeed. Personally, I was mostly surprised by the amount of players who played opposite sex Shepard in order to romance straight LIs. I can't bother to play maleShep even though I'd love to romance some of his LIs (Jack!) -- it just wouldn't feel the same as romancing them as femShep.

Wait... I may have misunderstood you but... you can't actually fail Thane's LM solely by going renegade, can you? I have played it as a renegade and managed to romance Thane later on (I think... haven't finished that playthrough yet). Is there a way to screw up the mission other than failing to follow Talid on the catwalks?

I believe so, yes -- by how you choose to deal with Kolyat at the end. Let me see if I can find the video in question....
Gimme just a sec.
Edit below:
Ok, here is the video -- I was incorrect about the renegade statement. What I remembered was a result of failing the LM by losing Talid on the catwalks. However, in the conversation with Thane back on the Normandy near the end, Shepard responding with the neutral and renegade option especially, make Thane very grumpy.
From the direction of conversation after this, I'd be surprised if you could initiate the romance. Thane seems exasperated and unwilling to talk further -- he responds in the same angry manner to Shepard upon approach on the 2 occasions that this player shows.
My brain is a bit of scrambled eggs right now after so much writing and analysis over this past week -- can you initiate Thane's romance before his LM? Like if it pops up late and you do most of the other LMs first? I was thinking that only after finishing the mission did you get teh Siha dialogue with helps lead to the initiation of the romance...
Can't seem to get enough Zev right now. Guess since I am now finally getting to see all the extra yummy stuff from the Zevran mods, I'm going a little Zev crazy. XD
I am also going to be going back to my RP experiment relatively soon. The one where I RP "myself" in the game. Finally got a Shep that (sort of) looks like me. It is going to be a sucky play through....lol. It's a good thing I am going through ME THEN ME2, since I don't think I could hit the right percentage of paragon or renegade points (of those available), to get certain outcomes. I'm already settled with the fact, that I will probably lose Miranda's loyalty (tiff between Miri and Jack...I generally side with Jack, and that is how I would "personally" play it as well.) That's ok though, I lost Miri's loyalty on my very first play through, and she still survived the SM. Plus, I had DLC that i did post game, and it warranted enough points to get her loyalty back. But my main problem is, that I will probably be using a LOT of neutral dialogue. And there are both PI and RI that I would never take in real life (which again, is the point of this experiment). We shall see....heh!
@Dragon -- Just chatted with Coldi a bit. A Thane with a failed LM should no longer be romanceable. The flirting before the LM should end (I think), and the dialog should basically go nowhere after that.
If you can verify or refute that via your PT, please do!
@giftfish Ah, yes, I've once failed Thane's loyalty on purpose and that's the dialogue I got -- but I reloaded after that, so I can't verify the romance thing. But it does seem quite impossible to romance him after that.
I'm also pretty sure you can't romance Thane before doing his LM. You do have one flirt line ("Just friends?") before the LM but I think that's about it.

I think we may have some confusion here.....I think Dragon was meaning that you can simply have a romance with a Renegade Shep and Thane; I don't think she meant "have a Renegade Shep, fail the LM, and still have a romance". Bah!! LOL I don't know, maybe I'm reading everyone wrong right now... I suspect that she was insinuating that her Renegade Shep still "succeeded" in Thane's LM, so she was able to romance Thane with a Renegade Shep (or a predominately Renegade Shep).
Wanna know how old I feel right now? I just had to ask Coldi wth "WSS" meant.
And I am YOUNGER than Coldi.
Btw, just finished watchign Firefly allthe way through again. Goddamn I love Jayne. he's such a jerkface, but I just can't help but love him to tiny bitty bits.
Every time I see Adam Baldwin, I'm like "Look, honey, it's Kal'Reegar!!!". My husbad is like..."Who's that?"
@coldi Yes, you're right; thanks for clearing it up for me.
Hey, have you guys noticed drell assassin is an anagram for all dress as sin? My brother pointed that out and I found that kinda hilarious & fitting (because Thane's chest... mmm). Ha, it's getting late and I begin to say stupid things. I should go to bed soon.
Oh and don't worry, giftfish. I have no idea what WSS means, either.
Kal'Reegar is the one romance option I would gladly see. Why do they kill characters that I want to romance? Strange... hmm...
That video with Thane after failed LM is heartbreaking. I never failed his loyalty mission and I don't intend to do this ever. What's even more depressing here is that again, he somehow predicted that he would be completely forgotten in ME3 (
"My body's acts in this life are tales never to be told. When I'm gone, it will be as if I'd never lived."
In ME3 it looks as though we've failed his loyalty mission after all.
I wonder if his original writer approves of what happened to Thane in ME3. And generally how Thane was written. I hope he doesn't.
I'm not sure I could have romanced Kal'Reegar. I would need to see his face first.
How did he die anyway? I forgot.
I never failed Thanes loyalty mission. I saw it on youtube but never did it myself. He becomes depressed and just seems to give up on life if you do. It's really sad to see.
I highly doubt that Thane's original writer likes what they did if he even knows. I wonder if he does know.
I don't remember how Kal'Reegar died. And since Javik said that quarians were considered attractive even among his people, I think that Kal'Reegar looks quite good, too. Quarians are actually one of my favorite species (they're right behind the Drell) I would like to see them unmasked in next Mass Effect game.
@Vlk3 and JECW
Kal Reegar died with his squad defending a com relay on Palaven.
I also think (If my memory serves me correctly) that you see a picture of a few quatrains unmasked if you choose synthesis as an ending for the EC. I think it was a side glimpse. I'm also curious on what the Volus look like without their suits.
@Roxy
Don't get sick if you're going on a vacation, that'd suck. Especially if it was the flu.
Any ideas on where you might be heading if you do go for a vacation?
Speaking of which, we're leaving in an hour for our 15-16 hour drive home Were stopping at a jotel in Chicago for a night before driving another 1-2 hours home. Haven't been to Chicago since I was a kid, all I remember that there was a Starbucks on every single block and Navy Pier beach was amazing. Hopefully there's no snow in Chicago so we can visit it.

Well that's true. I guess like any species they have attarctive and not so attractive. I would hope that Kal'Reegar would have been one of the more attractive Quarians. Seeing them unmasked would have been nice and not some cheap photoshop picture like the one they gave Tali. I like the Quarians also. The only problem I have ever had with them was their attitude towards the Geth.
@Jessica1995 Thanks. So that's how he died. I did like his character. I didn't pick synthesis. Maybe I can find the Quarians unmasked in synthesis on youtube. I wonder about the way the Volus look as well. Would be very interesting to see.
I wouldn't have minded having Kal reeger as an LI! ^^
@Jessica I am feeling better,Thank GOD. My hubby and I are planning on going to Disney World..probably after christmas, not sure yet. I remember when he took me to DW 7 years ago and proposed to me in front of Cinderella's castle, wow that was romantic...okay so anyways I hope you and your family have a safe trip going back home and going through Chicago...it can get crazy on the road.
@JECW I like that pic,her drawings of Thane are Great!

Annnnnd -- he's played ME2.
/faceplam
Mmwahahaha than you are younger than me as well. The old chick is a month older than me.
Kal'Reegar...yeah, love to see what is under that lovely, perfectly fitting suit of his.
