@Elana.S hmmm a new site for fanfics, I shall attempt to read it sometime, but lately whenever I sit down to read a fanfic I decided I should work on my own fics. I did skim through yours and I gotta say I'm liking what I'm seeing.
Off to go work on my fics.

Rules For Every Video Game Being Designed:
By: SGN
Edited By: [insert your name]
I. -The General Rules-
1. Do NOT appeal to "casual gamers" in any genre. They can't take the scares, the
difficulty, or something else to that degree they can go buy some tissues
instead and cry about it.
2. Respect your gamers’ intelligence. Don't give advice where it isn't needed. Like "use RS to
move, use A to jump, et cetera" this is only excusable if it is aimed at
younger gamers or obscure controls, otherwise, if it's rated M I think most
people of age to play such a game should be acquainted with games well enough
to not need the advice.
3. Respect your game, and be sure to take it seriously. If you want to create something, why wouldn’t
you want to do it well? If your game becomes rather well-known, wouldn’t you
want it to be for quality rather than flaws? Take pride in your work and make
something great.
4. Follow up with your promises. If in a trailer or interview you say “There will be a lot of x”
and there isn’t a lot of x, you can bet on people being upset that you didn’t
keep your promise. If that promise was made and hasn’t been in the game yet,
why not try to incorporate
5. Nothing says a game should come out on a certain date. Anyone who does say that is stupid. No
ifs, ands, or buts about it, they’re just plain stupid. The only possible
explanation that should even be considered is that the company was going
bankrupt, but maybe that’s for the best considering it must’ve been messing up
pretty bad with the games prior to it.
6. New games should only get certain perks. It’s completely fine for people who pre-order or buy a game
new to get certain perks that used games do not, but to have the ability just
to use multiplayer depend on if it’s new or not is just being greedy.
II. -Sequels-
1. Listen to your fanbase.
I must stress this for the sake of recent times. I don’t know if it’s
ignorance, stubbornness, or other factors beyond the control of game creators,
but when the fanbase takes serious issues with what they’ve seen in trailers,
sneak peeks, whatever it may be, please listen to their arguments. Don’t take
the easy way out and go from a terrifying horror, for example, to a measly
shooter to “appeal to the masses,” all you’re doing is alienating your fanbase
and only hurting yourself. To be more specific, I mean before the game is
released, it’s understandable when fans are complaining afterward and there isn’t
anything you can really do to fix it; although you should really ask yourself
why it released with some kind of fatal flaw that could upset the fanbase.
2. Do not frequently retcon.
It should be used either when it’s completely necessary or changing a storyline
to become more interesting. This has some gray areas. Retconning a story arc and
placing something better in its place makes sense and is more of just trying to
improve an arc that was lackluster really than retconning. Retconning something
that gamers from a previous game favor would be unwise, since it would upset
the gamers and your sales.
3. “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” is true…at times. Using an
outdated engine that looks terrible would probably be something you want to
actually try to fix, but if everyone who played the predecessor loved the
engine used in it, then why change it? Don’t change parts of the game that the
gamers said they liked about the previous one, unless it is for the better and
you can tell it IS better.
4. Sequels are nice in small amounts. Don’t make multiple sequels
within the same, say, 1-2 years. Games that plan for sequels are most likely have
the best potential considering the game developers can go back to previous
games and see where they can improve. Take your time. No one wants to buy Game Sequel
#6 when Game Sequel #5 just came out a few months ago and nothing is that
different except now you can change your appearance or something miniscule in
the big picture of the game.
5. Don’t switch genres. Don’t go from a horror game to a
shoot-em-up or vice versa. In theory this would work, but in reality the game
becomes a failure to what it was previously and what it is now aspiring to be.
III. -Multiplayer-
1. This is optional. Don’t make a game dependent on how much
multiplayer you play or if you have a friend playing co-op with you. This will
only amount to frustration with the game and other players in its community.

If you hire new writers for characters or the story in your sequels make sure they DO THEIR HOMEWORK. Make sure they familiarize themselves with the character and the story by watching past footage, playing the game themselves and looking at the notes of the writers before them. That way they don’t accidently retcon anything or miss any important details.

I'm one of the Thane's fan also, although I'm very disappointed how Thane romance ended. Mighty, almost invincible Shepard loses with Kepral's Syndrome - really, Bioware? There was some mention about Hanars developing cure for it - why haven't they extend that thread? I know that a good story needs a bit of dramaturgy, but that was too much for me.
I really like how Bioware did Mass Effect, a lot of respect for them for such an amazing story with characters so deep I adore them or even hate them - imagination is a powerful tool really.
I think they should do some DLC with extended romances. They haven't thought about it until now - but you should, Bioware. I bet people would buy these DLCs in great numbers. Even for some additional options, like James romance which they deleted. That simple solution would give people satisfaction as well as provide Bioware even more money. Thane deserves a cure, as well as other romanceable characters deserves more attention. The good story consists not only shooting, important plot and the main enemy, but also things like romances, friendship, family plot - all those things make game, book or movie complete. The more work Bioware do in the sphere of that, the more adoration would they gain.
I want Thane to live and have joyful life with his Siha - not peaceful as they both are "soldiers", they're used to fight for some major purposes. But they should live, fighting arm to arm.
Have we any successes about Thane? Did Bioware saw and commented probability of some DLC extending that thread? As long as we don't show them some signs, they won't know it and won't do anything. I don't know how far it went

Anyway welcome to the thread of misfits mostly all Thane fans in here along with and the occasional Samara fan.
Welcome back Myth and I didn't know Thane could play the Piano but I'm not surpised. I hope you and Mnomaha didn't make Thane go hungry durning Christmas.

And hi shas *wave* I agree with everything you said. He did deserve happiness with his siha. Thane’s life is FILLED with enough tragedy already and it’s not like his character needed more of it, at least not without a choice. As for successes, there are several wonderful fans here doing various projects and campaigns to get bioware’s attention. So far they have admitted to dropping the ball but have more or less ignored the problem. Time will tell if they plan on fixing the terrible romance treatment but I’m sure they are aware his fans are not happy , they just rather we shut up about it.

@Squeegee, to put it kindly I find much of the Miranda fanbase to be very temperamental.
You are much more kinder than I. The next time BioWare compares me to a male dominated fanbase, I am going to unleash hell.
@Annoying Fruitcake: That is the best list I have seen in a long time. Thanks for sharing!

@Shas yeah I love Justicars and Adrdat-Yakshi too. The mythos and lore for them is incredibly rich and intriguing, Then Samara as a character her own lore/history is very deep and rich. I use this word all the time when talking about my favorite ME characters and her it comes again, Samara has lots of depth to her character more than most give her credit for.
Thane was a great character and one of my favorites in the series. Course Samara sits at number one, then number 2 is a tie between Thane and Jack. So I really was upset about not being able to save Thane.
There again the mythos and lore to the whole drell species is very rich and intriguing.
And like Samara , Thane's own history/lore is incredibly deep and rich.
@Squeegee, oh not all male dominated fanbases are like that, I mean look at Jack, and Ashley's fan bases. But then neither of them were created with the main character design of "sex appeal".As far as I can tell it's all the USA fans that are dumb and hypnotized by her butt. Most dudes here in the US are dumb they act like they've never seen a pair of boobs.
Anyway hello all, tomorrow evening is News Years Eve hope you have a good one.

Im not only dissapointed how they ended Thane romance, but also Im dissapointed by whole Shepard behaviour in Mass Effect 3 about LI, especially if player had romance in ME1. Personaly I romanced with Kaidan in ME1, but while I can't accept his lack of trust in Shepard, I decided to finish theirs relationship. Also I meet Thane and for me he was perfect LI for all my Sheps but one ( tried to stay "loyal" to Kaidan, failed in ME3 while can't continue romance with him becouse of his behaviour early in game). So ME3 happened and then bum..Im forced to care about Kaidan so much, that my Shepard looks like piece of crap..I hate way my Shepard act after Mars..OK Kaidan maybe is her ex-boy and all, but it was too much for me. After that I got message from my current LI ( Thane) and I went to hospital to meet him first time after 6 months. And what I got? Lame dialog dominated once again by Kaidan subject...God, I understand that maybe BioWare want to make VS more important in game etc, but it's enough. Dialog with Kaidan in hospital about so called " cheating" is also lame..I don't want to apologize nor I want to marginalize my relationship with Thane. I want to tell Kaidan that Shepard moved on and love Thane, instead all lines ( except LIE option) sounds like Thane means nothing to her. Also compared Shepard behaviour after Kaidan was wounded with her behaviour after Thane was wounded by Kai Leng makes me furious. She once again act like Thane meant nothing for her.
Honestly I would be happy if I would be able to save Thane, but if he have to die, it should be done in a better way than it's done in ME3.
About saving Thane I still have feelings that it was planned but was cut off from game. First we have hint, that cure is possible. Second, with Kai Leng can fight other NPC. Also we have Hannar Diplomat side quest which could be important for saving Kahje & Thane.
About Romance DLC...well sometimes I think that this new one will be romance related....well eight writers and tears making music ( Devs hints about new DLC)...also I think that's possible relase date ( my speculation while they are making DLCs in about 2-3 months cycle) for this DLC could be February (Valentine Day) ?
Anyway Im back to ME2 ( Thane
I wish everyone Happy New Year

I also hated how pro Alliance Shepard became in ME3. Shepard always seemed pretty neutral when it came to the Alliance. Even in ME1. Now Shepard acts as if the Alliance is the best thing ever. I guess Shepard forgot that they turned their backs on you in ME2. I think I had one Shepard that would have stayed. I wanted to go out on my own as a spectre, but bioware didn't even give us a choice when it came to that.

Really it should have gone Alliance>Cerberus>Shepard by that I mean she should have been more of an independent figure at this point. It felt like a step backwards in a way. Remember the end of ME1 when shep stole the Normandy? I wanted that feeling again in ME3 but I felt I was a bit of a lapdog for the Alliance still.
Of course my IDEAL version of ME3 would have shepard CHOOSING who she alligned herself with (Alliance/cerberus/being a spectre again and going solo) which would have been awesome in terms of replayability. I really thought they would do something like that. Dependent on who you choose to do side missions for you are choosing a side. So if you wanted to play a pro-cerberus shepard you will get Alliance enemies and vice versa. Or if you p*ss off both as a spectre they both give you problems.

Another thing that bugged me was Arrival DLC and the Batarians were just thrown away. After the first ME novel Revelation, then ME1, ME2, and Arrival, all built up this tension between the Batarian and the rest of the species mainly humanity.
Arrival set the stage for the Reapers return and also created a big problem with the destruction of the Bahak system by bring the batarian issue to the forefront of things. I had such high hopes for that only to have it thrown away and forgotten about.
I really would like to know just what happened and how things got so destroyed with ME3. Maybe someone involved with the series should write a tell all book about it.

ME3 makes it very difficult to play certain types of shepards due to all the autodialogue and lack of choices on the wheel. I did not have this problem playing ME2 and that had less options than ME1.
I mean ME2 had the "akuze issue". If your shepard KNEW her squad were killed because of cerberus she should have been able to say something about it to them. But apart from that overlooked mistake you could still role play your shep despite being forced to comply with cerberus. You could still constantly voice your displeasure about the situation if you liked or take a neutral approach (logical without agreeing with their past behaviour) or even LIKE working for them.
ME3 was not like that at all. Some people didn't like the cerberus thing in ME2 but I was fine with it as long as I could still role play how my shepard felt about it. And you know what else? Deciding what you did with the collector base should have MATTERED, if you blew it up? You would have been on TIM's sh*tlist and it would have made sense. Saved it? You would have had TIM on side at the expense of Alliance support. I would have liked something like that too.

@gears...the entire game was one big wasted opportunity. They could have had the best of both worlds (existing fanbase + new gamers) had they done it right, but they got lazy and greedy(ier).
I need help with this, so all those awesome face morph people...HELP!
How did I go from this:

To this?:

It's the same Shep imported into ME3. WTF? I thought they fixed whatever import bug crawled up their butts?

Not only that but you'd have likely lost several squad mates, mainly VS/Kiadan/Ash, Vega, Tali (unless she's exiled then she's on the Normandy loyal to Shepard and it's crew only), and Jack.
I can't see gaining Batarian support with Cerberus, however Krogan support I can see happening so long as the genophage is cured (or sabotaged the cure).
On the other side of things, Shepard as a Spectre with the council and alliance, could unify much of the galaxy probably, just not Cerberus.
It's really stupid that Shepard's Spectre status didn't do jack or mean anything in ME3, hell even ME2 it had weight and meaning to it.

For me Mass Effect 3 isn't a bad game..it's quite good even with ending but as a stand alone game, not as the last chapter of the story we we are interesting in since 2007
