I think for me ME3 taught me never to get invested in another game like I did with ME. I had never even been invested in a game before ME. If I saw a game I liked sometimes I read reviews, or just see what others who played it said. Some were good and some weren't, but I wasn't invested in it. I did become invested until ME2. I wasn't invested in ME1 at all. ME2 and Thane is when I became more invested in these games. Then ME3 came along and let me down. It let a lot of us down.
Good point. I find it hard not to get invested at all (I am still pretty into Dragon Age, and Skyrim has its hooks firmly in me), but avoiding the depths of ME investment is probably wise.
Whenever something means more to you than just a game series, book, movie, etc. it becomes really crushing when it doesn't deliver. Harry Potter, for example, was an integral part of my childhood growing up, way more important than a book series. But Harry Potter (at least for me) always delivered. ME3 didn't.

It is kind of like one of my favourite book series, or it used to be, the Black Dagger Brotherhood. I was hooked on it. Until the last book, when the author completely retconned the lore. I can't even...I can't even think about reading any more of the series. Very sad because it was so very good.

Well since Moira gave the courage to post in here, I will. Thanks mnomaha for your comment. I'm glad you liked it. I felt so self conscious when I made that video. For some reason I am way more hy about this video then i was about my dragon age vids. Don't really know where to share these kinds of things in the Mass Effect club so to speak

With me, the voiced PC is really what makes the game. I love DA and Skyrim, and I am more emotionally-invested in DA than Skyrim due to the character-centric-ness of it. However, I am *much* more invested in ME than either one of those, and I really think it has to do with the fact that neither of them have a voiced PC. If I play ME for a few months and then switch over to DA or Skyrim, it's actually quite jarring and much less immersive -- because my character doesn't speak.
So, if BW doesn't want to deal with grumpy fans, the answer is simple: A- don't do stuff to make them grumpy, B-make the game less immersive by deviating from the formula above.

@bananflugan14 Hi, and welcome! I watched your video, and I think it was amazing. Can't watch it again though cause it made me so sad lol. I didn't like Thane's death in ME3 at all and I prefer to headcanon that he's alive and with Shepard. Anyway, your vid definitely made Thane more justice than his writer(s) in ME3.
Let us know if you make more Thane vids!
