BTW....I'm back to cold calling on screenies for the blog. Many have already contributed, and I can't thank you enough!! Would love to still get some more Jack, Jacob, Tali as LI's for the Screenshot Thursdays! We've done Thane twice, and I still have my Thane screenies I was going to eventually add (was waiting till we really covered everyone fairly). Anyway, if anyone has screenies for these LI's (that would be Shep + LI, of course), and would be willing to share them on the blog, let me know.

Didn't they say they wouldn't do any more dlcs related to the endings? Nothing about post ending dlcs..
I think the two at this point are pretty much lumped into the same category. After EC, which addressed the ending scene with the Catalyst and what came after, the devs pretty much put their metaphorical foot down as far as any additional mucking with the endings go.
I for one would still love a revamp of Priority: Earth, but I'm certainly not holding out hope.

Thane was doomed by the writers from the very beginning. The early "leaked script" had him either very ill and unable to get out of hospital bed anymore (and dying shortly after the completion of Kolyat's mission), or mustering all his remaining strength, killing some Cerberus troops and then either taking a bullet from Udina or killing Udina flawlessly and then succumbing to the illness. Though at least the scene between him and romanced FemShep looked more tragic, judging by dialogues.

yeah i've posted the leaked script you had sent to me a few months ago and we discussed it. well it's not perfect as it was, but well his death would have been more honorable^^

1) "They took away my Siha for indefinite amount of time. I should live at least as long to see her again."
2) "They took away my Siha for indefinite amount of time. My life has no meaning again. It seems that I should just die."
Both of them could actually be used to handwave the ImGonnaDie!Thane in ME3: he could have tried some experimental cure method that failed, so his days were numbered regardless of further treatment, or he could have just refused all treatment, going to hospital only when he felt unable to attend to himself any more. But even such handwaves weren't used to explain his change in heart.

anyway, yeah, it had been 6 months until shep returns, but he would definetly would be happy when she comes to hospital, but well he was not the way i expected him and i don#t even want to start to talk about how shepard behaves.

I mean, those conversations that Shepard had with Thane were completely casual. Thane casually said he wanted to die, Shepard basically shrugged it off, and you could initiate dialogue with him every time you visited Huerta Hospital. And in that scrapped "leaked" mission, Shepard wouldn't have seen Thane face to face until his dying moment, which at least made that meeting and dialogue more special and poignant.

A thread about what players think about cheating LIs and what not, judgning by Gaider's blog. Might be a good place for inputs. Also I don't want to be alone in there. xD

As my post in that topic probably makes clear, I think the idea is a potentially good one, but I think Bioware dropped the ball each time they tried to use it in ME and I'm not sure how much confidence I have in them in the future.
It's worked occasionally though
- Alistair leaving you if you spare Loghain is an example of this working, because you know from talking to him that making Loghain a Warden is basically the worst possible thing you could do to him
- The Viconia romance in BG2 is a pretty good example since there are valid in-game reasons for her to think it isn't safe (and it ends up getting her killed
But in ME you have
- Thane and the magically changing disease. If you're going to kill him off, couldn't you, I don't know, give him some real dialogue? Give Shepard more of a reaction? Have Garrus react?
- Jacob cheating on you no matter what. As I said in the topic, if you gave him a reason to cheat or he was a sleazeball in ME2, maybe I can buy it. But when it happens regardless of player choice?
- The VS trust issues dragging out over 2 games (nobody cares Bioware) because apparently you couldn't talk to them and they refused to talk to you because...the plot. It's actually made worse if you listen to their recorded (not-canon, I suppose) versions of their emails from ME2 since Ashley's basically trying not to cry/crying the entire time and Kaidan sounds really sad too.
- Miranda dying if you break up with her (lol?), although her dying if you don't give her help is okay.
Etc, etc. These aren't meaningful additions or parts of a relationship, they're plot devices to create drama/try to cause emotion in the player.

But yeah, it can work if it's done well and within reason. And not coming from out of nowhere... not many like when bosses just one shot you out of nowhere and with no warning... I don't see why it should be more acceptable in this manner.

The VS knows Thane - both from the hospital and the fact they were together when the attack happens (With the VS splitting off to protect the Council). With one small detail you give Shepard some actual evidence they are the good guy, the VS looks less dumb, Thane gets some recognition for what he did, Udina goes splat.
After the coup's over, you could even have the VS ask about Thane/console Shepard.
