Thane pretty much says that he has less than a year to live....and it seems to me that there might be a gap between ME2 and ME3 just like there's one between ME1 and ME2. So months will pass....and I wouldn't mind if his death/funeral takes place during ME3, because that should be more interesting storywise than him doing the same thing as in ME2.

Personally I do think that quite a few squad members from ME2 won't return in ME3, well, at least they won't be able to be part of Shepard's party...

ME2 technically starts one month after ME1, and considering the closing scene, I don't think there's 2 years before the reaper invasion.

Storywise, I have to disagree with you as well, since there is so much backstory that could have repercussions. And even if he was doing basically the same thing, allowing for character growth, he was an awesome teammate and LI.

BioWare appeals to a diverse group, and we are all entitled to our opinions, ..and hopes. I hope to see him in ME3, a lot.

Okay, lets ignore the two year gap just because the ME2 prologue starts shortly after the battle of the Citadel....

I don't think finding a cure or at least a way to prolong Thane's life (if he doesn't suffer) would cheapen the character in any way. What would, is if he just up and is written out, either mysteriously vanishing by going off to die on some random planet or throwing himself in front of a Reaper (neither of which Thane would do after he falls in love with Shepard).

One of Thane's best aspects is his story, that he has resigned himself to an empty shell, a body who's soul doesn't speak to him, it's just a tool, nothing more. He has literally been dead, disconnected from himself for ten years. Nassana is his last job, not because he was looking to die, since he handled himself pretty well there, but because he'd finally accepted that this was the end. One last job and then he'd let his body waste away. There was nothing to live for anyway.

Then here comes Shep. And everything changes. With everything she does for him and with him, he reawakens, what he feels for her brings his body and soul into harmony. He's no longer a dead man walking. He's alive and he's afraid the night before Omega 4 that he could lose it all; Shepard, what she's given him, and what he has found. Really, "Be alive with me tonight." is epic. It encompasses so much.

ME2 was supposed to be all about recruiting the right people, gaining their loyalty, forming these strong bonds of trust between a capable team of individuals. I would be incredibly disappointed if we didn't see these people back as party members for ME3, to me, it would totally toss out the window almost everything that ME2 was supposed to be.

Thane is the first really adult romance that I've played in an rpg game in a while. He's mature, composed, thoughtful and well spoken. I've felt that some Bioware (and Obsidian, etc.) romances were rushed and somewhat unrealistic, but I never really felt that in Thane's case. I love that he's flawed and completely imperfect and willing to admit that he's screwed up. It seems that he and Shepard have a fair amount in common, even if you are playing Male Shep.

I can't see a woman like Shepard just letting him go off somewhere and quietly die, and after the love scene I don't know that Thane is willing to simply go without a fight anymore. It would make sense for Shep to pursue any avenue available to her to cure him and she has considerable resources by the end of the game.

In short, I'd love to see Thane around in the third game. If not then I will be a very sad panda.

Thane and Mordin are my favorites for this game. I also liked speaking with Legion and Samara but will not be as unhappy if they do not reappear as I will be if Thane isn't around. It's not like there isn't a cure in the works by the Hanar anyway and he says he has up to a year left. It could happen. Please let it happen. D: Thane's my reptilian hottie.

This line made my day. Thank you very much.

While I may not be a "fan" of Thane, he's a pretty decent guy. He gives you a backstory you can sympathize with, and I feel kinda bad for the guy. While I do think that death might be the break that this guy gets from all the **** he's faced in life, I'd still like him around. How many games have religious fish/lizard-man assassins? None that I can recall.

Even though I like Thane, the chances of him appearing in ME3 are next to nothing 'cos he said he has about 6 months to live and from certain clues in ME2, Mass Effect 3 will be set at least 1 year after ME2

He said he has 8 to 12 months before he starts showing symptoms, ie. getting weak and unfit for saving the galaxy. By that time, Shepard's mission will be completed or they'll both be dead.

Bioware doesn't like petitions. Anyway I didn't care for Thane much but he is part of the crew so hopefully Mordin Solus will think of something. It would be sad if Thane falls in love with F Shep and reunites with his son only to die shortly after...

This is my first forum post.  Ever.  But I'm a girl, and an avid gamer, and in this case I had to make an exception to my excessively antisocial policy... Thane is one of the best characters, and is certainly the best love interest that I've encountered in a game.  So I'm here to voice my support for his return in ME3... here goes:

Please, please, PLEASE -  for the LOVE of all that's good and right in the UNIVERSE - bring Thane Krios back healthy, ready, willing and able to provide my fem Shep with a marriage proposal, a couple of mixed-species babies and that "happily ever after" a girl dreams of with her deadly, gorgeous, green assassin.  Seriously.
