This is my first time posting ever, but I've been lurking here for some time now, and felt like this was the time to get this off my chest ^^'
I've only started playing the ME series for a month now, and I was so amazed on how involved I got to it - the characters/story are all so immersive, I loved it. So much I colund't stop playin' it, and did the three games in a row heh
And, as all of you, I romanced Thane and just loved him as a character. After going through all that on the 3rd game, I felt weirdly upset, sad and... frustrated, for all the same reasons you all expressed here so well. And that was the reason I came to these forums - I had to see if I was the only one feeling that way, soon to find out I wasn't! And reading your posts helped me shake this frustration of and give me some comfort, and for that I thank you all
Anyways, I went through the Citadel DLC yesterday, and I gotta say I was touched by the Thane content... it was nice to see Shepard show some emotion after all that - it was the only time she cried throughout the entire game I believe! Seemed to me that the romanced-Thane personality was more accurate on the vids, tho it feels disconnected to their conversations on the hospital, specially 'causeThane never mentioned the messages he sent Shepard (I guess, don't remember). And the final scene was surprising to me, wasn't expecting that! Almost put tears to my eyes.. oh well... So I guess it did bring me some closure regarding that, tho it doesn't repair completely the screw-up from the first scenes we had... I guess Bioware did try to 'make ammends' in a way... considering this was a post-coup DLC, they could've easily ignored Thane again.
But now I just feel sorta sad it's all over, and that I got in touch with these games so late! But still grateful to having discovered it. Despite some of the problems it had, it is, handsdown, one of the best stuff i've ever played.
I guess I'll stop rambling lol, anyway, this was more of a 'thanks y'all' post, and purely venting something that has been stuck in here for sometime!
Hope you guys feel more at ease with everything, now that it's over!

I think you were lucky to have just got into the series now. For me, the fact that I'd been waiting and looking forward to the conclusion for so long made the disappointment all the worse... I felt reaaaallly bad for a few weeks and I'm still pissed off about it now. I have chosen to interpret the new Thane content as an olive branch and acknowledgement of the mistake/choice they made in ME3. They've still lost my pre-orders though.

I thought staying away for a few days would calm my mood...and it did. But, it did not temper my dislike and disappointment in the slightest. The only thing I can control when it comes to all of this, is my state of being, so...........onward and upward as they say. Stay well, drellickers.

I don't see this as an olive branch, though I understand why some may. The need to canonize moreso the status of Thane's outcome, and again, push the fact that I cannot role play my Sheps in this game, divorces me further from this franchise. I find the Thane content in me3 to be careless, not malicious, but careless. The problem is, they condone and cement this carelessness by the Thane content included in this DLC. This is strictly from my perspective, but no amount of words from those satisfied, mollified, or gratified has changed my view. Sadly.

I agree. BioWare did listen to some feedback and as a result added some Thane related content to the DLC. But they didn't fix the content with Thane that was already in the game. This might be for practical reasons, but I can't help but think it was really because they still don't acknowledge/want to admit that it was a problem. They can do no wrong.
Shepard is a still another problem for me too. To be honest, I disconnected from her almost immediately when she showed up in ME3 looking like a dead fish... it all went downhill from there.

I think it was pretty clear to them that they could do plenty of wrong after the original endings
I do agree with you on Shepard, though. I don't mind autodialogue in things like the Citadel party. I also don't mind it as used in DA2 and ME2 for the most part. But the buckets of things that pour out of Shepard's mouth and are totally incongruous with choices that I made? Blech.
On the other hand, I'm going through ME1 now, and while you ostensibly have control over everything Shep says, a lot of the lines are exactly the same or similar enough where I'm not surprised they made the switch to autodialogue. The first game had more things to click on, but also a limited series of distinct dialogue choices. The roleplaying's pretty meh even there.

BioWare didn't budge from their position that 'Thane must die' and when I think of it this DLC almost feels like they're rubbing it in. Maybe that's unfair to say because I honestly have no idea why they made the choices they made regarding this character. In a game where so many fantastical and downright silly things can and do happen I really don't understand why Thane getting some sort of treatment for his illness was deemed so improbable. That will always be a sore spot for me. If not a cure or life extension, it would have been nice if the DLC could have offered more content with Thane while he was alive pre-coup instead of just more misery-inducing post-death content. In short: I'm still sad. I'm still disappointed. I still think Thane's character and romance was poorly done in ME3.
What will happen to the Thane projects that are still ongoing? Like the plushie (ThaneKriosTour) or the fanbook? Are they still getting sent to BioWare?

I think I read that they would try and send the fanbook to Keythe instead of BW. I don't know about the other projects. Maybe they could try and do the same.

That's the thing. Maybe someone could ask him on facebook.
I would much rather those things go to him then BW. I don't think they would appreciate it anyway.

Well, if they actually thought they had done wrong, I think they would have changed the endings instead of claiming 'artistic integrity'. I still don't believe that they think they did anything wrong, that it was the fans that were wrong (I don't know if I can find where I read it, but I'm pretty sure Casey Hudson actually said something along these lines). But because of the outrage, it was clear they had to do something. Again though, they didn't change anything, just added more...
Anyway, that's just my take on it. I'm probably being pessimistic but BioWare have lost my trust and so that's me done.
Edit: After the reaction that the SaveThane stuff received at BioWare, I don't think they would appreciate it at all. It'd likely get thrown in the discard pile without so much as a second glance. I agree it would be better to send it to Keythe, if possible. And/or Chris L'Etoile, as without him we wouldn't have the Thane we loved in ME2 either.
Also, I'm happy to keep working on the photo album if people still think it is worth doing?

Thx! And yeah, guess I lucked out... if I had played this since 2010, I would have been 10x more pissed! =\\

When all is said and done, however, the DLC doesn't fix much. It's like pouring sprinkles over a clump of dirt and calling it ice cream. Nice as the sprinkles are, it can't make the dirt ice cream.
Haha, agreed...
But I couldn't help but think that it would be nice if they added a scene after the endings where Shepard clearly dies where she finally meets Thane across the sea
Oh well... guess even that is too much to ask at the moment...

I have little doubt that the reason for the choices with Thane in vanilla ME3 were largely down to money/corporate greed. I am quite sure that had there not been any outcry about the treatment of Thane that there would have been zero Thane content in the DLC. It is incredibly unlikely that there will ever be any admission that they did anything wrong with the character of Thane but the staff at BW aren't stupid, at least some of them are aware that it was just plain nasty, they're just not allowed to say it out loud. We got given a compromise, they gave more content while standing by their poor decision to take any player agency away from Thane's outcome, it is a million miles from perfect but we got them to do something. I sincerely hope that they will take our grievences into account going forward and learn to appreciate that there's a point in RPGs when messing with peoples emotions can go too far and ensure that there is an out for those who don't enjoy forced tragedy in their entertainment.
As for the plushie, He's with Mythlover in Australia just now, and as the person who made the wee bugger I can categorically state that I do NOT wish him to go to Bioware. However, I realise that this is not wholly my decision to make so I ask anyone who has taken part in the journey to PM me with your thoughts. I know many of you have added all kinds of memorabilia to his case and I really want your opinion on this.
@coldi I totally understand your view on this, taking this dlc as an olive branch is a choice, but I'm probably being more generous than I should be. *hugs and many large rum and cokes with lime*

I haven't seen her in a while.
I saw nothing wrong with her rant. I don't know why anyone felt the need to pick on that.

I think it is a culture thing. Some countries with freedom of speech are used to seeing very nasty rants and stuff said and know it is just people blowing off steam. On other places even wearing the same mask that was in a movie can get you arrested so the press, forums and TV are very deferential and well behaved. A rant like hers in one of this countries would be considered almost criminal, if not downright grounds for arresting someone. So maybe that is why some people were so shocked by it. Because on their country a rant like that would get you in jail.

I think the people that complained overreacted. They have been on BSN and DA enough to know that there have been worse things said. I myself have seen and read people say some pretty bad things about BW, but I never took it seriously.
I think she is a lot nicer than me because I would have told each and every person that complained where they could stick their complaints.
I hope she comes back though.

I can honestly say that my ThaneShep will never NEVER see any of it. She will live and die on Mars. Why not? It's not like she has a LI to come back to. So selfish...
@Annie...you know my thoughts on Plushie Thane. I also do NOT want buttware getting their grubby mitts on him. I still think he should come home to you and, if you want, keep the NZ stuff so I know I won't be forgotten.
