Just post the damn thing. It's a THANE THREAD. They never come in here anyway.

Yes. I still have the plushie. The book was decided to go to Keythe, and... well... I haven't taken any photos with Thane plushie yet because it's been raining on and off ever since I got him, mum's best friend's husband died and we thought we would have to go to Maryborough for the funeral, but couldn't because all the roads were flooded, closed, or being worked on, and frankly after that... incident... I just bloody well didn't want to have anything to do with mass effect anymore, and I ignored him for a week. I've been trying to get up early to take him to the beach for a sunrise over the pacific but it's been cloudy every morning since and... well... it's the bloody morning! It's not natural being up that early! I have NO idea what the hell is wrong with you morning people. It's just wrong.

I do want to take him to Townsville for that Museum tour, and down to the islands for a bit of a cruise (mum and I haven't done whitehaven beach cruise yet so we'll do that one) but again, raining. Plus two cyclones, including TIM forming in the Gulf of Carpentaria.

Yes. Tropical Cyclone (there are some who call him) T.I.M. He's going to be a bastard, I can tell. :P

Kinda puts everything on hold for a long while when one of those bastards pop up on the scene.

Also, Moira and I have been doing a collaborative Crossover. Lols ensue, and Thane's alive. Linky. Please read. We need the comments. Please. Give them to us.

We'll tell you next weeks lottery numbers (can't say they'll be the winning ones, though :P )

I think that sending something to Chris L'Etoile is a great idea. It would be also amazing to talk to him, see what he thinks about this or if he doesn't want to speak about his opinion, then just asking him about his thoughts on Thane and what was he thinking while writing him would be great.

Agreed. This sounds horrible, but I'd love to know that L'Etoile hates Thane's writing in ME3. What he would have written for Thane means more to me than what the other guy wrote, so if L'Etoile would have kept Thane alive, I'd find it even easier to have him live in my headcanon. On the other hand, if he would have killed Thane, too, I'd be beyond heartbroken.

And @mnomaha if you're afraid to post the pic here, why not post it on that new forum? I'd love to see it...

@Stilographium, I know what you mean. I'm a bit scared that he could actually like it. But, knowing that he doesn't like the endings and that he also had different view on synthetics, helps me to believe that he might not be pleased with what happened with Thane. I've seen his post somewhere about Ashley in general, about people who think she's racist and how it's tiring to explain them that she is not. Chris wrote complex characters and is very attached to the lore, unlike other writers... which makes it a bit worse, since lung transplant and CDN article weren't his ideas. ;/ But I don't think that he would just kill Thane, giving him only death-related content. He knew how to write Thane.

I would be curious to know what he thought of the way Thane was handled in ME3 myself. I would hope he wouldn't have written a death for Thane , but would that have even been his decision?

I was surprised when I found out he wrote Ashley because I really couldn't stand her in ME1 .She annoyed me the entire game which is probably why I kept picking Kaidan on Virmire. I don't know if I would call her a racist, but her views on aliens and some of her dialogue rubbed me the wrong way.

I have always been a big fan of Ashley's. I think it is partly because she doesn't just say what we think Shep might want to hear....if that makes sense. She also reminded me of someone I know, not in any exacting way, but enough....and I kind of like that. It made her character more "substantial" to me. And this from an alien-loving, agnostic. (obviously speaking about me, and how some of my Sheps were role played regarding those specifics.) *shrug*

As for L'Etoile, I will not presume to know what he would think about Thane's handling in me3. Considering there is NO character development for Thane in the final game - I'm sorry, but this is truly how I see it - I would suspect that he wouldn't be terribly pleased with it. Had he continued writing Thane for the last game, I do believe there was a chance he would have written Thane to die. As JECW pointed out, it may not have been his decision. However, I do not believe for one second, that he would have "forgotten" or "dropped the ball" on Thane's romance arc. Plus, as I and others have pointed out a number of times, it wasn't even necessary to cure Thane and still have him alive through the whole game. Keep within the timeline that THEY made, and don't mess with the established lore on Kepral's. This alone meant that he did not need to die in the third game.....it simply meant he might not ever be shown receiving a cure. And since this was Sheps last ride anyhow, I would have been more than happy to just "imagine" what came after the events for Thane. I can imagine quite well, all kinds of possibilities, something rather enjoyable to do, in RPG's. :P

@VickyOak -- Keep replaying the game.  You'll get more angry as you contrinue to replay ME1 & ME2, because as you become more familiar with the story, and more attached to the characters, the glaring shortcomings of ME3 will become more and more evident.

Yeah, I have felt really conflicted ever
since I watched the Thane content in the DLC. It wasn't awful. There
were things that I did appreciate like the acknowledgement of their
feelings - though I maintain that should have happened while Thane was
alive. Still - I'm glad they didn't just outright ignore Thane like I
thought they might. When all is said and done, however, the DLC doesn't
fix much. It's like pouring sprinkles over a clump of dirt and calling
it ice cream. Nice as the sprinkles are, it can't make the dirt ice
cream.

BioWare didn't budge from their position that 'Thane must
die' and when I think of it this DLC almost feels like they're rubbing
it in. Maybe that's unfair to say because I honestly have no idea why
they made the choices they made regarding this character. In a game
where so many fantastical and downright silly things can and do happen I
really don't understand why Thane getting some sort of treatment for
his illness was deemed so improbable. That will always be a sore spot
for me. If not a cure or life extension, it would have been nice if the
DLC could have offered more content with Thane while he was alive
pre-coup instead of just more misery-inducing post-death content. In
short: I'm still sad. I'm still disappointed. I still think Thane's
character and romance was poorly done in ME3.

What will happen
to the Thane projects that are still ongoing? Like the plushie
(ThaneKriosTour) or the fanbook? Are they still getting sent to
BioWare?

^This.

Well,
if they actually thought they had done wrong, I think they would have
changed the endings instead of claiming 'artistic integrity'. I still
don't believe that they think they did anything wrong, that it was the
fans that were wrong (I don't know if I can find where I read it, but
I'm pretty sure Casey Hudson actually said something along these lines).
But because of the outrage, it was clear they had to do something.
Again though, they didn't change anything, just added more...

^And this

Renmiri1 wrote...

I don't think they would, they sure
didn't seem to notice the other stuff they got. We should probably send
all to Keythe or Thane's ME2 writer Chris L'Etoille

^This is a great idea.

Also, about the ideas for modding Thane in ME3

I spoke to both Coldi and Sable about this last week, and I PMed Mr. Fob a few moments, ago.

The best way to proceed would probably be to make a thread on the new forums, so I'll go ahead and do that, and I'll post my PM, so everyone can take a look.

Then what we might want to do is start gathering other ideas.  Namely, other viable ways to improve the current context in the game, using methods that are currently doable.  I noticed Ren said something a few pages ago about wanting to move certain DLC  content to the vanilla game, so things like that.

It will be much easier to discuss and then potentially work on/test if we have a dedicated thread.

OK people I was gone for a few had to work a double shift I'm back what did I miss? Also thanks Dine for requesting the link to that forum be sent to me.

So are we all still feeling betrayed by almighty buttware? I know I am, I'll probably never recover from it.

K, folks. I started a thread where we can talk about how to potentially mod Thane's survival into ME3.

Ready for discussion on the other forum.

Yay for gears and giftfish getting the links.

Another convo in the main forum is now talking about how horrible JAcob was treated. Where the heck were all these people a year ago? Instead of laughing at Jacob fans and loling about how he could have fans, they could have lent JAcob fans some support.

ME3 fans are awful :/

It is all "F U I got mine!" with them. The geniuses never stop to think that they can be next in Bioware's list to ignore...

Really looking forward to your input on the Thane mod thread on the new forums, Ren. I think you (and maybe Emerald) are the only ones that have actually done some modding for ME3  >.<

You are not wrong, DineBoo.  There were some very dedicated Jacob fans in the Jacob Thread, that tried to get their voices heard, and a few of us Thane fans tried to bolster the thread as well, after me3 first came out. Alas, the thread eventually went cold.  The regulars in that thread have basically disappeared, which is sad.  They didn't deserve the derision by other ME fans, or how Jacob was handled in me3.

I was in some of the Jacob threads, though not the main one I think. I know a lot of pointed out the stereotypes that was brought out in ME3.

But nope, too much loling about how Jacob could have fans.

There needed to be a firm answer to why they treated the character that way. I refuse to accept "changing loyalties" as an excuse.

Agreed again. I intend to think of bw position in simple terms.....they got careless. Jacob was easy to forget about. The fandom was much quieter, the only thing that ever brought attention to Jacob, were those damn "who be da best" surveys and threads. And then it was a few posters making jokes, or people going out of there way to say things like,"I liked everyone, but I thought Jacob was boring." And the bottom line is, LI's in me3 that were not squaddies (ME2 exsquaddies that could be LI's), got the least amount of attention, and Fem!Shep exclusive LI's got the least of all. Hmmm......"out of sight, out of mind?".....careless.

Yeah... I fear this might happen indeed... I admit I didn't get too mad about the endings, but I just started a new playthrough with a maleShep, and intend to get to know more of the lore, and pay more attention to details.  Ignorance bliss, huh? But I still want to get to the bottom of everything.

.. and despite enjoying the DLC Thane content, I still find myself thinking about the bad stuff on the base game and can't help but feel a bit sad.. =/

About L'Etoile, I think it would be very interesting to know what were his plans for Thane. Even if he did plan to kill him, I bet it would have been done in a decent way, specially for the romance plot! I wonder why he left Bioware... =/

@VickyOak...Yeah, FemShep has a great game in ME2, but ManShep has a rocking game in ME3. I still recommend replaying the game as well. It's pretty much like gift says..

Do we want to link it here?  Considering we're trying to keep it private?

It's in the ME3 forum there, along with the Citadel Discussion thread that most folks have been visiting.
