So, I'm not probably not going to be around for a little while. I'm probably going to be busy and stressed for the next few days and then I don't know what sort of internet access I will have for the next few weeks. Good luck with the modding stuff and whatnot!

So for those of you who watched Thane's video messages in the DLC (or just read about them) how do you guys reconcile the fact that Thane never told Shepard any of the stuff he says in his videos? He seemed so desperate to get in touch with her but when she was right in front of him neither of them had much to say to each other. What changed?

Any headcanons? I just wonder if there's any way to accept the new content without having it feel so tacked on.

I promised I would change Chase's vocation, but I just had to play with him a bit as a truly "decked out" warrior. Fenris would be soooo jealous. HA! (my god...I am such a child) XD

Glad you liked it! I have Chase back with me and took him to fight Grigori (the crimson dragon) yesterday.  Poor dragon didn't stand a chance. Now back to the Everfall...

But not before I leave this little gif of Thane being a slick BAMF as devastatingly sexy as he is deadly:

Most have moved over to the new forum (I think) so I just see little point in being on BSN anymore.

Saves me a lot of frustration, avoiding all trolls.

There is no way to headcanon those with that disastrously lame talk at Huerta we get on the vanilla game. I completely erase it out of my head, then it makes more sense.

Yeah, that  was the one thing that I thought was the most problematic on this DLC... he didn't even mention he tried to contact her through the videos, did he? I can't really see a way to link the videos to the conversation on the hospital... it's just like Renmiri said =( That talk just shouldn't have happened... at all!

Oh, and may I have the link to the new forum? Would love to join the talk, in a friendlier place! =)

He does mention at Huerta that he tried to send messages but he doesn't elaborate. It's almost like he gave up on Shepard. If Kolyat hadn't forwarded the videos she'd never have seen them. This is depressing. In some ways the DLC makes it worse and I worry that he died thinking she didn't care as much as he did so he tried to keep his feelings in check which is why he seemed so much colder.

VickyOak, I PMed you the link to the other forum.

@Julia_xo - As you can probably guess, the DLC AND vanilla content in me3 give me nothing but negative thoughts. I already despised what was in the vanilla game, and the DLC makes it worse for me. It's as if the devs skimmed through the old Thane thread on the me3 forum, and spied one of the many headcanons people were trying to come up with, to make his existence in me3 tolerable. I actually mean that. I know (though I would have to do some serious digging to find it) that one of our Thane fans had headcanon something similar to what ended up in those messages (that he really did try to send her multiple messages, and that he acted "aloof" in the hospital because he wasnt' sure what he meant to Shep, didn't want to burden her, yada-yada-yada... :P) It was cheap. They condoned this poorly written material, because it was still easier to do than actually offer us something more substantial. At the very least, this DLC should have been playable before the coup, so that we could have had a truly meaningful exchange. It would have gone a long way to fix what was originally given.

Add to the fact that this isn't even reflected back into the main game....ever. What ever you see in the DLC, stays in said DLC, as I understand it. So again....we have zero changes to his fate of death, we have no rectification of the bad dialogue exchange in the vanilla game, and we have to pay an extra $15 to see Shep and Co. give two craps about him. It's morose, and feels incredibly hollow.

So here are my hopes (wut....just cuz I sound all crusty right now, doesn't mean I can't be hopeful..lol): I hope we manage to pull off some kind of mod for Thane. I hope some of the great writers I know we have in this fandom, continue to write well thought out and expressed fanfiction (which reminds me, I have some reading I need to do for Askeebe.....sorry for delay *guilty grin*). And I hope that my neighbor loans me some of his sculpture tools, so I can finally make my outsider art ala me3. Booya!! XD

@Julia_xo I think there's no way to headcanon a good explanation for why Thane and Shepard act the way they do at Huerta. It's not just about Thane -- romanced Shepard acts very coldly and out of character, too. It still hurts me to watch the part where Thane tries to take her hands and she just awkwardly stares at her fingers. No wonder he doesn't want to talk to her after that!! I wish something could be done to that scene via mod, but it might be too difficult. At least altering the dialogue should be possible, as I understand it.

Yes, this.  @Julia_xo provided us with the transcripts of the Huerta dialogue between f!Shep and Thane some time ago, and I think it is apropos to this discussion, to view it again.

Thane
: Siha. I heard Earth was under attack. I didn't know you'd made it out.
Shepard: Thane. It's been too long. I was beginning to think I'd never see you again.
*insert glitched hand hold*
Thane: I sent a few messages while you were incarcerated, but I suspect they never got past the guards. What are you doing here?
Shepard: Visiting a friend, Kaidan. He got hurt protecting me.
Thane: The human biotic in intensive care. *cough* I saw the the marks of an implant.
Shepard: Yeah.
Thane: We have spoken. He was holding out hope that a woman would visit him. Is there something I should know about you two?
Shepard: (We were intimate once) We were together for awhile before the first Normandy was destroyed.
Thane: And grew apart I gather?
*insert Shep's exorcist-inspired neck turn*
Thane: Your enemies may try to finish him off here. I will look out for him.
Shepard: I appreciate it, Thane.
Thane: I am near the end of my life. It is a good time to be generous. I have only a few loves left and you are my last. Let me do what I can for you.

If Kiss interrupt is not taken:
Thane: Kepral's Syndrome will unfortunately keep us apart.

If Kiss interrupt is taken:
Thane: Well.... I see you want to make up for lost time. I should warn you that you may not want your final memories of me to be in this hospital. Kepral's Syndrome is.... not kind.

Shepard: (Can't you come with me?) I'm back on the Normandy on an important mission. Sure could use you.
Thane: I would not be as I was before. I need daily medical attention. And if I know you, you will want to fight the Reapers somehow. You need the best at your side and I am not at mine.

Shepard: (You can still help.) You don't have to wrestle down Krogan and break their necks. I'm sure we could find you lighter work.
Thane: I'm at peace with what I've done in my life, Shepard. There comes a time when one must rest from war and conflict. It's not your time, but it is mine.

Shepard:(How long will you live?) Do you know how much time you have left?

Thane: I've been to several doctors. My favorite gave me three months to live... nine months ago. It's freeing to find no requirements placed on me. No responsibilities, no fears. It is a good end to a life.

Shepard:(Does it hurt?) Are you in a lot of pain?
Thane: At times. The oxygen transfer proteins don't form correctly. Your human equivalent would be hemoglobin. As a result, my blood is low in oxygen. No matter how much I breathe in I get tingling, numbness ...and that is the best of it. As for my brain, I cannot track the damage. I just experience dizziness from time to time.

Shepard: (Goodbye, Thane.) I wish the best for you, Thane.

Thane: I think of us often Siha, but we always knew it would come to an end. Live well in the time you have, perhaps we will see each other again.

Shepard: (Let's find some privacy) I've got a few free moments. Do you want to spend a little time together?
Thane: I'd like that. You should understand that my cardiovascular system is not what it was...Mmm.
*insert make-out here*
Shepard: You were saying something?
Thane: I missed you, Shepard.

I did an analysis between this dialogue and the LotSB letter that was recycled in me3.  The language in just that one letter, makes this dialogue completely absurd to me.  Throw in the lack of choosing how and why you wish to respond as Shepard, and this exchange disconnects me (and probably others) completely.  I was not exactly immersed as it was, even before getting to Huerta, but that.....*boom* not a shred of immersion left. And this is reason number two as to me staying away from that DLC. It solidifies what we got stuck with, while adding no new exchanges between these two characters. Still no ability to role play my Thanemanced Shepards.  :P

I think so. Some people don't like it for the same reasons I do. I find it refreshing to see Lara's beginning. I'm *glad* she freaks out with her first kills, both wildlife and human. I like the fact that before she was the all powerful Lara Croft, she was an innocent young woman that was, in fact, vulnerable.

But that's just me... :D

Is that really why some don't like it? Doesn't bother me.
I did hear some were not use to it being so violent. Again doesn't bother me.  I'm one of the few people who liked Angel of Darkness so I am looking forward to playing this new one.

So this is completely off topic but I just saw northern lights at the sky! I don't think I've ever seen them before. They were beautiful. And green. And totally worth standing in the freezing night without warm enough clothing. =)

@coldi LOL well it was a bit lighter tone of green than "drellish green"... perhaps more like mint green. I would have taken pics but I didn't have a camera suitable for that. =/ Moments like this, I wish I had that perfect memory of drell's...

@Stilographium...so jealous. Never see things like that here. Or Omaha. Really anywhere. LOL

@Coldi...*smooosh*

@Jecw..that was the impression I got, but I could be wrong. I don't mind the violence either. It's a video game with a violent rating...not sure what else would be expected. Then again, I'm still trying to figure out why ME anything had a mature rating.

My hope is with the second more romance-focused mod, we can change most of the dialogue for this convo.  Grrrr.
