There is no way to headcanon those with that disastrously lame talk at Huerta we get on the vanilla game. I completely erase it out of my head, then it makes more sense.
My hope is with the second more romance-focused mod, we can change most of the dialogue for this convo. Grrrr.
I'm not going to play this game unless it is somehow changed. I was looking for some dialogue replacements in ME3 for this. The idea of replacing Thane's goodbye line "We always knew it would end..." with friendship version is very good.
There's also a line that Shep can say at one moment in game "You can beat this, Thane. Don't give up." It could be useful. And also this, from Thane "unfortunately, this would part us for a time" - if I could only find something that would imply that he's just leaving for a treatment... maybe some audio files from ME2... But I don't know how to extract them yet.

Just out of curiosity, when can Shepard say that? I thought I'd heard all the possible dialogue options with Thane, but I can't remember that one.Vlk3 wrote...

Also, is it difficult to cut and combine different audio files? Thane has this line: "I had the treatment" when talking about drell having their eyes genetically modified. It could be useful, especially if it could be combined with some other sentence and turned to future tense. Then we also have this: "And I expect if we remembered the birth trauma, we'd never recover from it." (This occurs when he talks about solipsism.) That bolded part might come in handy when talking about the treatment. But yeah, I don't know if it is possible to combine different dialogues, and how it would end up sounding. Just pondering on some options.

As Coldi, Sable, and I start poring over all the dialogue for ME2 and ME3 for the [potential new] emails, we'll try to take notes on things that would be good for swapping out in conversations, as well.
These 2 sites will be especially helpful:

We could also used the complete transcribed dialogue of Shep-Thane in ME3 (similar to the first link above for ME2), if someone feels so inclined, lol....

Thanks for the links, I'll look for something helpful, too.
@Stilographium - I think that Shepard can say something like that when Thane is on his deathbed and starts coughing. Hearing the whole dialogue from ME3 was unpleasant... ;/
Anyway, I was looking at the dialogue from ME2 and found this...
"Thane: I mentioned when we met on Illium that I was dying. It's called
Kepral's syndrome. It's not communicable, but I have less than a year to
live."
This is strange, because in other dialogue he said something a lot different, at least as I understand it:
" I should be fine for another eight to twelve months. The more time I
spend in humid environments, the faster it progresses. I think it's safe
to say that by the time my body is incapacitated we'll be victorious.
Or dead. "

Well, I'm replaying ME3 with a non-Thanemancing Shepard so I should be able to explore and write down all the friend!Thane dialogue, at least. =)giftfish wrote...

I found this line here http://masseffect.li...thread=23504360
Thane says it only when his loyalty mission starts and Shepard didn't even once talk to him on the Normandy before.

Interesting! And still makes me ponder a bit. I bet a number of players potentially, only saw that version of his Kepral's line in ME2. Which could also explain why some didn't have a problem with the lack of timeline continuity in me3, concerning his health. They saw it differently. But that is one of our big complaints. All the variety of character arcs were explored for most of the other characters (squaddies/exsquaddies), but Thane (and I would argue, Jacob) are not. They give us an "homogenized" version of three different Thanes. And then they wonder why we complain (ok, maybe they don't wonder, but they also seem less inclined to care).

As for the first one....hm.
I can't recall if I've heard it; something in the back of my head tells me I have, but where....?
And what scenario? (Loyal, unloyal, romanced?)
I should investigate ME2's .tlk file to make 100% sure. Which I should do regardless; we need the resources for the dialogue for modding purposes anyway. (I'm almost done with the vanilla ME3 .tlk file and I have begun on the Citadel DLC's .tlk file too)

And I just read through the dialogue. I never triggered that dialogue option. I didn't even know it existed. Coldie is right. It does lead to interesting connotations regarding our treatment by the rest of the fanbase.

How to do it? Then I can play ME3... perhaps.Renmiri1 wrote...
myth, someone at the me3explorer forum found an easy way (almost as simple as setting a flag in gibbed) to make Thane not go to save the councilor. Then either you have Kirahe alive and he goes instead, or the councilor dies but Thane's name never goes to the memorial wall and the death scene on ME3 never happens.
Can I get a link to a forum where the discussion of mod?
Do you think it is possible to replace Garrus model on Thane model in a scene where Shepard dancing tango?

The other fanbases treat us badly simply because Thane says he was dying and that there was no cure. That's all most of them heard and that was enough for them. They always say that's the first thing Thane tells you so they made up their minds that he should die right then and there.
