I'm going to leave this here with a little hesitation because I know a lot of Thane fans didn't want him to die and I don't want to hurt/insult anybody. But I love Thane and I actually really liked what Citadel DLC did for him (at least Shepard and Crew finally remembered that he existed). So be kind/contrustive with reviews, etc. Click Here Spoilers for ME3 obviously.
Thank you, and sorry I made you sniffle.Renmiri1 wrote...
Is very poignant. Made me sniffle. Well done
I agree. I think I'm one of the few who never expected Thane to live and I actually liked that about his romance, but like you said it would have been nice if people had noticed that her LI had died. I mean I can think of half a dozen places that they could have mentioned Thane but didn't. Like Garrus standing at the memorial wall after the Coup or during any of the Citadel dates in the Vanilla game. Of course romancing Kaidan as a Spacer kinda sucks too because he has the perfect opportunity to ask Shep about her mom and doesn't. Bosh'tet! We can see Thane's death as one possible outcome of the character, but his death was only properly dealt with on the Citadel DLC. Not even there to be honest on ME2 Joker was all "I'm here if you want to talk" after Shepard got snubbed by Kaidan. Now her LI dies and no one offers help ? But at least they did something, which was more than what was done for Thane on the entire ME3.
But the anger and hurt is at Bioware not at fellow fans. I am happy Citadel brought closure to your Shepard

hi there, just wanted to introduce myself as yet another disillusioned Thane fan who can't let go / move on etc. *waves*
Replaying ME3 recently I noticed for the first time yet another cruel/out of character line Shepard gives him in the hospital scene - "I'm visiting a friend, Kaiden, he got hurt protecting me"
A romanced Shep would know from Thane's LOTSB letter that he carried on just so he could "remain at your side and protect you with everything that I am." So he must be feeling pretty rubbish about being too ill to do so any longer. Salt in wound. But then that just sums it up I guess. Such a waste of an incredible character. I thought the DLC would help but it really didn't. Finding out Thane felt as strongly as ever for his Siha made it even harder. Anyway, like a lot of you I have headcannoned the c**p out of this game story and now have the whole thing pan out the way I want it. I'll post in here if I ever finish it.
Anyway... long live Thane! Even if it's just in our heads.
*raises glass of wine to the mighty Drell*

Throw in the lack of dialogue choices (like the one mentioned by Andromedamnit), and the whole thing leaves a bitter taste in the mouth.

Welcome Andromedamnit (btw, love the name)! I am currently whipping up a batch of Cucumber Gin Coolers (it is too nice out where I live right now....just begging for a refreshing cocktail. LOL), so grab a mason jar and join us!
There have been a couple of us, who have done dialogue analyses on Shepard's and Thane's dialogue in me3. I did one where I completely compared it to the LotSB letter (since they recycled the damn thing in the base game.). Any headcanon, fanfic is always welcome, so feel free to share whenever you wish.
In the meantime, if you peruse through say, the last 20 or so pages, you will find information on the Thane MOD that some of us fanatics are working on. We have found some very talented modders who have been generous to work with us. As we get closer to release, we will post further info on the development.

@Andromedamnit - Mmmmmm....pear cider. Very nice.
Love hearing others that are excited about the MOD project. I'll give you the quick rundown version as to what we are hoping to accomplish, and where we are at.
Thane MOD specifics
1) Replacing, reediting initial Huerta dialogue for both a romanced Thane and a Friend Thane (this mod is meant to be used for anyone who wishes to keep Thane alive in any/all play throughs they choose.)
2) New emails from Thane throughout the game, that changes both on conditionals of Shepards choices in different missions, and for a friend, his last email will reflect the condition of whom that Shepard romanced in ME3.
3) Removal of Thane from the Coup. No death scene. Removal of Memorial Wall plaque. Removal of his appearance in Shepard's "Sacrifice Flashback".
4) We are working with Mr. Fob to also setup a Thanecentric MEHEM. This will either include placing Thane at the Memorial scene held for Anderson. (check out the MEHEM thread in the ME3 Fan Creation forum, if you are unfamiliar with that mod.)
5) If we are unable to get him into the Memorial Scene, we will use an Epilogue slide.
What we have accomplished so far
1) @HJF4 has a WIP of a reedited Huerta dialogue, and set it up to have the "kiss" be repeatable. We have also removed Shepards "girls gone wild" moaning. hehe. The group has scoured ME2 and ME3 for dialogue lines (both for Thane and Shepard). We built a script, but we have not tried an execution of it yet.
2) Emails and conditionals have been written out, and HJF4 has put them together for testing. So far the testing is going really well.
3) New Codex entry, WA entries and new conditions for added WA's have been made.
4) HJF4 has figured out all the steps needed to remove the "death" elements concerning Thane, and keeping him out of the coup. If Kirahee is alive, he will be the one to stop the assassination. If Kirahee is dead, the Councilor will die.
5) We have worked on choosing new music for the Huerta dialogue, @Emeraldfern has started to piece together a redesign of the tank dress to be Thanecentric. (it's looking really good). We also keep looking at new ideas, while scratching out others.
So that is the general state of things. Again, we will post more as we get further along.
I find James amusing, and I do wish he was a real romance. And I like his tattoos, which is odd because IRL I don't particularly find tattoos attractive. As far as him and Nadia well, James says during one of his conversations that being a soldier is the only thing he's ever been good at and not because he tried. That's kinda how I see Nadia (who has the soldier class). I think they would get along great together.Andromedamnit wrote...
@ Exile - yeah it still blows my mind that they could just 'forget that Thane was a LI'
I think it's cute that your shep gets with James in the future. Not my type personally but I reckon he would keep life entertaining for her post reapers!
On the Vega topic, I just found a DLC vid with James asking Shep about her romances. Does anyone know if he asks her about Thane and what her response is? Just curious...
