Actually, I was thinking of the "felicitations" and a feather...

LOL....yes Shell, you get a cookie! "Felicitate me!" HAHAHAHA! XD

Lovely new sig, @giftfish. ;)

@BeanieBat and @Sable - I was terrible at the gameplay in DAO on the xBox, the first time I played through, but Beanie, it does get......mmmm...easier. I am with @mnomaha on playing a Rogue. My favorite is DW dagger, high Cunning backstabby rogue. It means you do a lot of auto-attacks, BUT your DPS can be insane, plus some good finishers....AND combat becomes much faster (IMO).

I do prefer mages in DA2 though. ;)

I started playing as a mage. It's just feel like I've played for hours and done nothing! And there are far too many options, I get bored reading through them all and trying to decide how to level up... I guess I'm just a bit too restless for it. I'll give it another shot. Playing Battleblock Theater at the moment and it's so much fun! =D We basically try and find inventive ways to kill each other rather than actually try and complete the levels though... =P

LOL Beanie! I actually get what you mean...I just like the options though. They definitely can be a bit daunting. Since the DA games work fine as stand alones, if you want something a bit more actiony, then I might suggest DA2. It also has a voiced protagonist, which you are used to from ME, and a dialogue wheel.

I love DAO (and more so on the PC because of MODs - weeeeeee!), but it is very long (at least the way I play, heh!), and the combat is a tad slow and jerky (the Warden shuffle...LOL). But the characters are fantastic, the LI's are fabulous, the banter is hilarious, and some of the quests are a lot of fun. Plus, the different origins are interesting to try out. (and gives one an excuse to play in the Character Creator some more.) :D

I agree about DAO. I wish the epicness (it *is* a word) would have crossed over to the ME side of things. I adored the characters in DAO and really only loved Varric and Fenris in DA2. The mages are almost overpowered in DA2, so that was a bit of fun.

And thanks to giftfish for fixing my animated siggies problem. :)

@beanie I found that DAO grew on me the more I played it and ended up enjoying it all, including the combat but it is not particularly easy to get into for the reasons you listed. I first played it on 360, I then got it for PC and its even better. It is worth persevering with it, the characters are brilliant. I was quite addicted to the whole thing for a time :)

Haha! Thank you all for the input! =D I'd probably stick with it anyway, I don't like not finishing games! And I've played games with worse fighting... =P 360 will have to do for now though... I do need a new laptop/PC but I really need to think hard about what I want to do about that!

I may not be able to play anything beyond fable on the Xbox. I cannot get my keyboard-ified fingers to conform to a gamepad. Ok granted, it was the Dragon's Dogma and Halo demos, but still...is bloody confusing.

I hated it at first, too Beanie. I was dying left and right and I didn't like controlling more than one character. But, pausing for combat really helps, though, as does getting the combat AI set up for each character.

The one thing that will really kill you, though is not having a healer at first. If you take Morrigan the damage/CC route rather than healer, and don't have a healer until Wynne (and depending on when you get Wynne), that first part of the game really blows.

@mnomaha - First time I ever played the 360 was for Halo 3... took a while to get used to the controller!

@giftfish - yeah I don't like being in control of up to 4 squaddies either! So I just stick to one and let the others die if they decide to be stupid about it =P Haven't died yet myself with exception of the Ogre at the tower thing with the fire beacon... died there a few times! It's the aiming and lack of direction I don't like so much... guess it's very similar to Fable actually.

Unfortunately, DA:O just handles better on PC. It's got a clunky interface and an old-fashioned RPG control scheme with four characters at once, so you really do need all those buttons.

Seconded, though Anders was the exception rather than the rule for me. I usually go for the nice boys (Alistair, Garrus, etc.) I am so excited for DA:I.

@beanie, I didn't like DA:O at first either. I played a rogue and was constantly dying. I upped my cunning and focused on staying alive myself and letting teh other characters manage on their own for the most part. It finally got easier after a bit, and then I loved it. I'd played it years ago as a mage and thought that the mage was way overpowered, so wanted to try something different. Tried the Zevran romance this time, too, and loved it. So moved to DA:2 and did the same thing: rogue romancing the elf. Liked it in spite of the clunky story and repetative dungeons.

@Askeebe - That was me as well. I played DAO and DA2 originally on the xbox, and it took me a little bit to get used to the interface. @Sable is definitely right about it being much more friendly on the PC. I now play both the DA games on the PC and the controls are sooo much better.

I too am partial to Zev (love playing rogue with a Zevran romance...stabbity-stab-stab!), and turned to another elf in DA2 (helllooo Fenris :D ). However, I do try out all the romances, and some I do more than once. The only two romances I have not tried are Leliana's and Merrill's (though I do have a Hawke waiting in the wings, that I made specifically for Merrill....Derpity-Do-Da-Day Hawke....LOL). Not sure if I will ever bring myself to do Leliana's romance. I don't hate her...nothing so dramatic. I just haven't been able to create a Warden that I could actually see romancing her. The dopey Hawke I have made for Merrill, well, he will be fairly easy to RP (since the game sort of supports such a character..LOL). I do enjoy Alistair, and Anders is good for an angsty run (actually, Alistair works quite well for angsty runs too.)

And to keep on topic.........THANE!! (I <3 Thane) XD

Ok, ThaneMod testers, the moment that you've been waiting for is here.

HJF4 has the download ready to test Thane's ABSENCE from the Coup.

See the Testing thread on the new forum to download the file and help with testing!

Pst...I just tried it and it works! Note, though, that for a non-ME1 import the scene with Leng is still completely retarded. Shepard and Co. just stand their with their guns pointed at Leng yapping at him as he shoots the Councilor. /facepalm

Wow. This mod is just FLYING! I can't wait to download it! :D :D :D

And everyone is talking about da:o? Awesome! Guess what I'm playing! (Read: re-installing because I forgot what mods I had, what went where, what value i have to change to get screenies without Frapps, and wanting to download a whole heap of DA2 into DA:O mods).

I too, am partial to Zevran. I just love his snarky stabbity-stab-stab ways! And he's so cute when he finally admits that he thinks he might be in love with you.... I mean: your warden. >.> <.< >.>

And Fenris, OH FENRIS! I do love that broody elf.

Where can I get the new sigs? I must have them all!

Speaking of the Mod, are there any developments that I can tell the people on the Fanbook page?

Also I'm thinking about getting administrators for it, turning it into a regular old group with dedicated folders for the Fanbook (IF I ever get the finished pages from Dani. I miss her. Haven't seen her in forever!), the Travel Plushie (if annie gives me the go ahead to put the photos in the group), various essays that people have done (if they wanted to submit them), my essay if it ever gets finished (read: 99.99999% not, still undecided but I have surgeries to worry about now), plus the COMPETITIONS! I need help with competitions and ideas and I would love to have a Thane Mod competition for everyone if you guys would let me. I also want to do a "Family Photo Album" competition. da needs more family photos of dear darling Thane.

Oh, and check out this LARP video of DA2. It's hilarious!

@Myth...I have just been directing people to Coldi's dA page. She updates it regularly..I think. I haven't been there lately.

Also, sent you a pm.

You may mention it, but only in the context of saying that it's in progress and then providing a link to Coldi's dA post.

I don't want too many decentralized sources of information at this point, as I don't want to risk the spread of misinformation as we're still in the building phase. Also, I'll likely be putting up a thread on HTL soon that will have a copy of the "What is ThaneMod?" post on the forum. I should be able to answer any question folks can come up with, and is sort of the "official word" on things.

Not sure what you mean about "competitions", so you'll have to clarify that.

Sigs are on the designated forum thread.

Gotcha giftfish! I've already been directing those interested to coldie's page, so no probs. ^_^

I'll like a link to the HTL thread when you pop it up, please. I haven't been there for so long I've lost it.

And answered ya, mnomaha.

Any of you guys want the gig once the mod's done? (Seriously I have no clue what needs to be deligated or not I've just been trying to do everything myself).

Gideon Emery voices the Blood Elf faction leader in WoW now.

He's got Fenris's voice, a badass eyepatch, an epic story...I want him to be Warchief, even if it's a really long shot.

damn. is there a youtube video for that, because I don't play WoW (don't like subscription based gaming at all tbh, though ESO might change my mind if that's how it goes).

Yeah. As if my female blood elf wouldn't swoon over him already, I am too. >.>

I wouldn't start playing WoW just for him, as he doesn't even figure into the story considerably until end-game MoP (the latest expansion) content.  But he is pretty awesome.  If you wanna try a non-subscription MMO, my boyfriend and I are currently really into Guild Wars 2.

Here's a new video from Louvette and Jill (her awesome sister). I admit it...I cried.
