I just recently finished the game as well. I came over from SWTOR after someone called my trooper femshep and I had to find out what they meant. Got into ME trilogy.
I won't give a big emotional wreak story (yeah I was pissed), but I really honestly believe someone on Thane's new writing team has step-mommy issues. I do not believe they forgot his romance (forgot to add dialogue for crewmates to mention him yes), but it was clearly deliberate that they wanted to end the romance and make it friends only.... "we always knew it would come to an end" ....major burn. I saw in the other Thane thread the leaked scripts which showed more romantic passion between Thane and femshep up until his last breath. To disregard that and do this IS DELIBERATE.
Interesting thought! I never considered the 'step-mommy issues' angle. It does help to explain previously inconceivable errors in writer judgment

After perusing I think when I see old stuff from ME2 from fans that said this...
Elite Midget wrote...
You missed the part where Liara breaks down and shows her ME1 Side when she notices Shepard and embraces Shepard.
You are dillusional.
Thane loves his Dead wife a hell lot more than Shepard. They were together for YEARS and they had a kid together. Hell, she's brought out a side of him that was beyond just being a tool of death. So in the end Thane NEVER truely gets over his dead wife and looks forward into joining her soon since he has a year left to live. Not to mention upon her death he became depressed and went back to his old ways, to try and get over the loss of his true love, before finding out that he's about to die.
Thus no Romance between Thane and Shepard will EVER come close to what he had with his dead wife.
What? You're so full of yourself that you would kick the grave of a dead woman because you want to be Thane's Number#1 lovebird even though he hasen't even known you for a year?
Hell, Liara even mentions that you're trying to replace a Dead Woman(Good luck with that.), That Thane still loves even after her death, in a Years time. It ain't gonna happen. It's a fling and once Thane is dead Shepard can wallow in grief or move on.
I know there had to be at least one person in the writing team who probably felt the same way, which to me hints at deep-seated issues. I mean polygyny is legal is some parts of the world today, so a man can love more than one woman. Hell evolutionarily we are supposed to be polygynous. Women have pheromones in their skin that when detected by other women synchronize our ovulatory cycle so we can all give birth (via alpha male) in a single breeding cycle (for migratory convenience). Of course we are a bit more sophisticated nowadays as a species and this is no longer unnecessary. But a man can love another.
And then I see leaked scripts such as this DELIBERATELY DISCARDED one, BUT whose language is LATER recycled into the Citadel DLC for the 4th video from Thane to Shepard...
I took this from an old post by Aello89-
SCRIPT: Context: Thane was supposed to assassinate Udina. There is another version of the leaked script where he can actually survive the coup and another conversation in the hospital (with Kolyat present) where he doesn't die either - or so it would see since the conversation was suddenly cut off.
Thane: {With a little difficulty.] Congratulations are in order. The Council has not been this united since... uhh.{Thane sinks to his knees. Shepard kneels by him.}
Shepard: What's wrong?
Thane:Kepral's. It's aggravated by... exertion.
Thane: I'm sorry, siha. I ran all the way here... couldn't let you fail. Thought I was being a hero.
I'm sorry, Shepard. I ran across the Presidium to... to make it here in time. Tried a little heroism.
Shepard:It's all right. Just catch your breath.
Thane:Doubtful. Oxygen transfer proteins aren't working. Your equivalent would be hemo-- {A coughing fit wracks Thane. Shepard helps out so he's lying in Shepard's arms.}--hemoglobin. Can't get oxygen from the air. Brain is starving.
Shepard:I'll get some medical help.
Thane:[Shakes head.] Don't go.
Shepard: Do you want me to see if I can find Kolyat for you?
Thane:No. But I have taken lives tonight to reach you. There is something I must do.
Shepard: Did I give you permission to die on me?
Thane: Don't make me laugh... breathing... is hard enough. (Note: there is a sound clip for this)
Shepard:You ran here in your condition? That's... that's suicide.
Thane:[CINEDESIGN: Small smile.] Last time we tried, it worked out. More importantly, I couldn't let you fail.{A coughing fit wracks Thane. Shepard helps out so he's lying in Shepard's arms.}Sorry. Shouldn't talk. Consumes more oxygen.
Shepard:I'll get some medical help.
Thane:I know all the experts on the Citadel. Ran diagnostics two weeks ago. I asked what they recommended at this late stage. They said, "spend time with your family."
Shepard:Looks like I'm all you've got.
Thane: I can think of no one better, siha.Your memory is not like mine, but perhaps you can keep me in it for a little while.
- Shepard: You're not an easy person to forget, Thane.
Thane:The moment will be soon. [Coughing fit.] I shouldn't have run. You did not even need me.
Shepard: You fought for something noble, Thane. As last moments go, it's not a bad one.
Thane:No... there is one I would prefer.[Thane memory flashback.] Fist slams the table. Shame at my cowardice, my fear. Atonement means nothing. Her hand touches mine. Her lips part and I tremble. "Thane, be alive with me tonight." (NOW In the Citadel DlC 4th video)
[His body relaxes. Shepard wipes her eyes. Maybe we see a tear, maybe we don't. The music tells us all we need to know.]
Shepard: Goodbye, Thane. Meet you across the sea.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And ^ that is DELIBERATLY replaced at Huertas with this...
Script we are given (I had Ashley alive, but this is from an unromanced Kaidan dialogue I got from youtube)
Thane: Siha. I heard Earth was under attack. I didn't know you'd made it out.
Shepard: Thane. It's been too long. I was beginning to think I'd never see you again.
Thane: I sent a few messages while you were incarcerated, but I suspect they never got past the guards. What are you doing here?
Shepard: Visiting a friend, Kaidan. He got hurt protecting me.
Thane: The human biotic in intensive care. I saw the the marks of an implant.
Shepard: Yeah.
Thane: We have spoken. He seems an honorable sort.
Thane: Your enemies may try to finish him off here. I will look out for him.
Shepard: I appreciate it, Thane.
Thane: I am near the end of my life. It is a good time to be generous. I have only a few loves left and you are my last. Let me do what I can for you.
*Kiss*
Thane: Well.... I see you want to make up for lost time. I should warn you that you may not want your final memories of me to be in this hospital. Kepral's Syndrome is.... not kind.
Shepard: I'm back on the Normandy on an important mission. Sure could use you.
Thane: I would not be as I was before. I need daily medical attention. And if I know you, you will want to fight the Reapers somehow. You need the best at your side and I am not at mine.
Shepard: You don't have to wrestle down Krogan and break their necks. I'm sure we could find you lighter work.
Thane: I'm at peace with what I've done in my life, Shepard. There comes a time when one must rest from war and conflict. It's not your time, but it is mine.
Shepard:Do you know how much time you have left?
Thane: I've been to several doctors. My favorite gave me three months to live... nine months ago. It's freeing to find no requirements placed on me. No responsibilities, no fears. It is a good end to a life.
Shepard:Are you in a lot of pain?
Thane: At times. The oxygen transfer proteins don't form correctly. Your human equivalent would be hemoglobin. As a result, my blood is low in oxygen. No matter how much I breathe in I get tingling, numbness ...and that is the best of it. As for my brain, I cannot track the damage. I just experience dizziness from time to time.
Shepard: I wish the best for you, Thane.
Thane: I think of us often Siha, but we always knew it would come to an end. Live well in the time you have, perhaps we will see each other again.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I see a DELIBERATE attempt to undermine a romance beteween the two!
In ME3 Thane acted like he did when he dropped out of the vents on Illim, cocked his head to the side and said, "I'm dying".
Someone in this thread mentioned they would like to know what Chris L'Etoile would think of Thane's ME3 portrayal (romance).
Well in ME2 there is a conversation with Thane that goes like this (if Shep breaks up with him)...
Thane in ME2:
Shepard: [I can't love a dying man.] I've been thinking about your illness.
Thane: Understandable.
Shepard: I don't think I can do this. Love you now, only to lose you later.
Thane: Hm.
Shepard: I'm sorry.
Thane: Shepard, we made no vows to each other. We are both unbound. I have no wish to be a burden to you. If it is your wish, I will turn aside.
Neutral - Stay with me. No, I- How can I walk away from you?
Thane: When it is time, you will. Without death, how will we know the value of life?
Thane in ME3 seems to not value anything but dying. You know that ...Let it come to an end. Enjoy the time you have. Perhaps we will see each other again.

Using the Official Timeline: http://masseffect.wi...m/wiki/Timeline
*The game seems to go in 6 month increments*
ME1: roughly 3 to 5 months (2183 and you meet Kaidan or Ashley)
Shepard's death: 1 month later (2183)
2 years pass with Shepard dead. Then 5th Element style revival.
SM: 6 months ( Jan. to Jun. 2185)
Post-SM and Lotsb (with Lotsb occurring sometime after August 2185)
Post-SM until Arrival incident: 6 months (Jun. to Dec.2185 with Arrival occurring at the beginning of 2186).
Nearly immediately after Arrival you get hauled in and incarcerated: 6 months (Jan. to Jun.2186)
ME3: (to the bitter end of 2186)
So romance with Thane (post Omega-4 is a 6 month undocumented affair and the prior pre-Omega-4 friendship build-up was another 6 month affair= 1 year together). In the Citadel Dlc Thane says Shepard more or less had to convince him to leave the Normandy at the end for his own good, so she could turn herself in. Something like "Siha, I thought about what you said and, in retrospect, I think leaving the Normandy was for the best." Thus, he didn't feel that way initially. Remember he felt relaxed on the Normandy, and it had become his home. So sad!

Um.. coldie will be the one who is best to talk to about the timeline. If I remember correctly she was the one who figured it out. but so far we worked it out as approximately 2 years, from meeting to death. She also figured out the timeline of his illness. We had one medical microbiologist and one biology student study Kepral's Syndrome and discovered that even if the details of the disease hadn't been ****ed up beyond all logical recognition he still wouldn't have died when he did, how he did, or why he did. I have a friend with several blackbelts that picked apart the Kai Leng fight, and he was not kind. I did a major character analysis of Thane Krios across the two games (though gave it up after a ****-load of abuse from various individuals earlier this year). We have had since then another Kepral's Essay come into being.
There were many projects, please, essay's, critiques, and frankly the Citadel DLC is a result of mostly *our* hard work, because we campaigned for everyone, not just Thane. The Fanbooks for Miranda and others used the page designs developed by Emeraldfern, and the concept developed by Reyaria. The Project books were, to my knowledge, headed by Thane-mancers and Garrus mancers. The Poll was run by coldie, gift, emerald, and others, and... well, we were very busy last year. And then there's that *ADORABLE* Travelling Thane Plushie wildannie made.... I miss that little green guy. He had such a good vibe about him. So full of love, he was.
all the details are everywhere. For now, I'll give you the link to the Thane Fanbook Group's DA page. It's currently being revamped so not much is happening yet but it will pretty soon. http://thane-fanbook.deviantart.com/
I'll leave the others to give you the links to their various sites/publications. ^^
Oh, and guys, moira-chan and I have been writing a ME and BBC Sherlock crossover if you're interested. It's been funny. ^^ http://mythlover20.d...st-P1-358521418

Just needed to correct something, here.
The 4-part Romance DLC poll on BSN was put up by myself and I managed the thread. The 80+ question Romance DLC Survey was developed by folks over at HTL, and the Cosmic Love initiative proceeded as a joint venture between them and myself, once we saw our intent was similar. Coldi was a welcome addition to that project and was brought on a couple months after it began -- at which point she also started to help me to field the BSN thread comments. Emerald was not involved in this project, short of contributing some lovely artwork :]
Fanbases on BSN deserve enorumous credit for their efforts, but the folks at HTL coordinated many, many projects of their own, as well.
There's plenty of credit to go around, let's just try to keep it accurate.
Oh, and @LL, we've tweaked the Huerta note quite a bit for ThaneMOD, and the Huerta convo is rewritten, as well. Emerald is almost done splicing audio :]
BTW -- we need more testers, especially ones with nvidia GPUs. Thanks!

@coldie! HI! *drags her into the glomp* Have I told you two lately how much I love you both. You two always make me feel welcome, wherever we are.
@gift: I've got a nvidia... i think. i better do since that's what i asked for when i had garrus made. Just to clarify: I need a vanilla install, don't I? I think I remember that from way back when. I can try to offer my services, but truthfully I think I might be more trouble than you need during the testing phase, since I'm a technology dipstick. Can someone PM me the details of what I would have to do to test?
No seriously, I mean PM. I read the testing info thread before and it went completely over my head, and I mean COMPLETELY, hence why I never offered before.

That's amazing and I'm happy to see the Thane mod is going well too. I've mostly been sticking to the DA part of the forums these days but it's nice to see what you guys have been working on. I thought about getting the PC version of the trilogy just so I can use the Thane and MEHEM mods in future.

I too was an Xbox player for ME. But once this project started, and as involved as I got, it only made sense that I get the games for the PC. Between using MEHEM (which I have done with one run....), and testing for the mod, I don't regret the purchase. Not trying to pressure into it, of course, lol! Just had a similar situation as you with the Xbox. Anyway, stop by the other forum sometime and say hi....plus you can take a look at what we have been working on.
BTW, I spend a good amount of time lurking in the DA:I section too.
@myth - I must have completely blanked on your last post. lol! Sorry. Once the next test build is up, I will send you some instructions, and you can decide if it is something you want to attempt. It isn't difficult, but I do understand the trepidation. I had it myself when we first started. Now....no fear with testing. Even when things go wrong. lol! That's what backup folders are for, right?

I have read the DA site about mod updates, but I tend to view the writer’s decisions as a godlike decision with an inability to challenge it (to be unable to unsee it), so I look forward to seeing more youtube videos of you guys enjoying a better outcome through modding. I whole heartedly support your efforts.
As an addendum to my initial (gut reaction) rants above... I agree with Coldwetn0se,, his portrayal and death was “careless, not malicious, but careless”.
