I don't think he would, Kolyat has had it hard enough already, what with his mom being murdered and his father abandoning him.

Who knows maybe one day he could become a cop at C-sec a really good one at that and I'd like for him to have that oppurtunity.

So if in ME3 I think I would have to let Thane die, even though it would terribly upset me, rather than take even more away from Kolyat or risk him dieing.

HE'S JUST A KID DAMMIT!

I love Thane, I really do. He's a great, tragic character.

But I just can't bring myself to romance him. I always felt like FemShep was just a replacement for his wife. I guess it's just me, but it always seemed like his wife was the one he was really in love with, and Shepard was just a thing he pursued to cure his loneliness.

Though I could be wrong. I got about as far in the romance as the convo about his wife when I decided I'd rather romance Garrus. Maybe I didn't give him enough of a chance... But the whole "my wife, who I LOVEDEDEDED was murdered, and I've been dead inside ever since" thing just put me off.

Anyone else's thoughts on this?

@Illerianna,

Did you see the romance scene between Femshep and Thane?

It was so clear at that point that Thane was in love with Shepard, he had pretty much given up on life until he met her and this whole Kepral's syndrome business, is the bittersweet aspect to that. He finally finds something, or someone I should say to live for only to realize that it is too late because he's dying and this is clearly depicted in the romance scene when he smashes his fist down on the table out of anger and frustration and by the tears that run down his face.

She re-awakened him, made him feel alive again after so many years being 'dead' his battlesleep as he calls it. He even says this himself, the only reason he took the Dantius contract was because he didn't intend on coming out alive.

And also to quote RShara quoting Thane, "A person can love more than once in their lifetime"

You can hardly be upset at him for loving his wife because the fact is he did love her and he didn't even know Shepard then and also it's sad to think of, but if Irikah had never been murdered, Thane probably would never have met Sherpard.

I guess I just have that whole "true love can happen only once," thing going on, and the fact that I'm a horribly bitter person IRL. It's probably just a personal issue (plus Alistair spoiled me in DA with his ******-woochy thing).

I must have missed that quote, probably because I was too busy getting up in Garrus' mandibles to even pay attention.

Thanks for the input! I'll try out Thane this time around. I really need to be more open, I guess. >.<;

Yep. The earrings were accidentally left out of the game model. I'm still undecided on the earrings and sunglasses...

Oh dear sweet jesus... I didn't even notice that.

:blink::blink::blink::blink:

Uhm... More of a reason *not* to buy that pack.

Who designed that? A 12 year-old? The sunglasses were bad enough, but this is just.... Augh.

I can see Thane looking at that outfit going, "What? No. I'm drawing a line at earrings." :pinched:

You should give him a chance, truly.  Too many people don't, which is a real shame as I think he is one of the best written LIs that we've ever been given.

I understand being put off by the dead wife syndrome, not alot of people dig that.  Thane only brings her up after he reunites with Kolyat to explain himsef to Shepard and only that one time.  It's unreasonable to think that he didn't love Irikah, he did, but he came to terms with her death by hunting down and killing those responsible.  His talking about her is more matter-of-fact than still-grieving.  If he's grieving for anyone - at first - he's grieving for himself, a man who has been going through the motions for the past 10 years, feeling nothing until Shepard reawakens him.

Thane, beyond a shadow of a doubt, loves Shepard and that comes across strongly in their romance scene.

Some days ago someone on the forums said that Thane looks like Elton John with this new outfit. Now that I see those earrings, there seems to be some amount of truth to it. Yea, don't like Thane's new outfit at all.
I'm tempted to buying the pack so Jack can clothe herself. No idea as to why she has shades though...but at least she has a sweet biker outfit so she doesn't look so ridiculous anymore. As for Garrus, he looks more badass with battered armor and I don't like the new color scheme.

That's true in a way, but only because there's a different perspective that she didn't consider before. And it seems it worked.

illerianna: do try it.

They have hidden his pretty eyes... and have given him gloves. So no more risks while holding hands. Now I wonder why I got the DLC. My Shepard was more than willing to take her chances.

I would have liked his eyes not to have human style eyes, because it looks really weird - farther away his eyes look pitch black.

The jacket reminds of MJ's jacket in Thriller. And I can just imagine how comical the romance scene would be with those glasses.

For some reason, I never saw the "siha" nickname as carrying any romantic connotations. Thane calls Fem!Shep "siha" even if she isn't romancing him (albeit not consistently like he would if in a romance), but he only explains its meaning if he's being romanced. So...I guess the fact that he could've used that nickname on his wife doesn't bother me particularly because of its non-romantic meaning. One of the reasons I haven't romanced Thane yet has nothing to do with his whole "I had a wife" facet.

1.) I haven't romanced him yet because I have a very specific Fem!Shep in store for him and I haven't finished my Mass Effect playthrough with her yet--she's been sitting on the Citadel waiting to talk to the Council about Saren for a while now. The only one that transferred over was built in mind for Garrus.

2.) The way Thane says that he never socialized much outside of his family was just...sad. :C I don't know if Fem!Shep encourages Thane to socialize more if she's in a relationship with him, but I thought Thane was more in need of friends than he was of a new love--especially since he admits to never having that many to begin with. That and when he says things like "there will be no one to mourn me when I die" -- he definitely needs friends to support him right now. Encouraging him to get out of his room to talk to other people felt satisfying.

Still going to have me a go at dat zippa Thane one of these days. I like his earrings, though. Not sure what to think about the shades...yet.

I agree. It looks like someone played dress-up with him. I think forgetting about the earrings was fortunate, it looks silly. Jack and Garrus don't look much better though. Maybe the others will be better.

She wears a shirt with her loyalty outfit, thank god. Took her long enough to put one on, no wonder that Merc recruiter during Garrus' recruitment mission thought I was there for stripper signups.

True, but her loyalty outfit is pretty dressed... for Jack. It's mainly the shades that annoy me.
