It is funny how it's so obvious whenever there will be combat in the game. There's always cover.

...*shudder* any time I venture outside this thread on the forums, I regret it...

haha I think Korlus is pretty bad when it comes to LOW WALL HERE out in the middle of nowhere so you know combat is about to take place.  Mordin's mission on Tuchanka is also pretty obvious about that.

I was a WoW player for years, those were some of the worst forums, nothing but arguments and flame wars back and forth.  To be fair, I haven't played WoW for almost 2 years, maybe it's changed.

This thread, I think, is an oasis on the forums.  I haven't popped in there recently, but Jack's thread is also a pretty decent place with some good people.

Coincidence?

I'm surprised at how sane this thread remains is all. There are other good threads, but many degrade into flame wars and meme-fests. I haven't been on a forum in years, and I forgot how it gets.

yeah this thread is 'sane' in comparison. *cough* dont venture into the thane-group section. abit 'freaky' lol if your not into 'meme-fest'. but its very friendly in there and more active*cough*

A little memefest is okay, and some of them are hilarious, but there's a reason I don't go to 4chan...hehe. My issue is that I don't really do fangirl. I really love Thane, and love Thane/Shep fanstuff. I don't know, maybe I'm in denial about my inner fangirl, because I love fanfiction, but I just get confused when forums move so fast.

Topic change time. I've probably already missed everyone's opinions, but how do you think Thane will be incorporated into the next game? Will he be on your squad, or just a cameo, or already passed on? I'm hoping for at least a cameo, but I really have no idea what direction the next game will take.

This thread surely feels safe and pleasant. I've signed up on this forum for DA:O, but I've been lurking for a long time because there was a little war on the Origins' forums at the time, and was something I didn't want to be part of. Too much hate.

Best I can describe it would be a recurring joke...some funnier than others.

I actually think Thane will play a rather decent part in ME3, as per the whole love interest conflict idea and what not. I'd say he'll probably be a squadmate again, whether you romanced him or not, as I expect the majority (if not all ME2 squadmates) to return.  It probably sounds foolishly optimistic of me to say that, but I've yet to be let down by BW and their story telling prowess and I've been a fan for a looong time.

In this thread and in plenty of other places I've firmly said if Thane dies between ME2 and ME3 or ME3 opens with Thane's death / funeral I will prompty eject my disc, burn it, run over it with my car and have my dog pee on the ashes before I return it and demand a complete and total refund.

The Batarian Prophet would have nothing on me.

kaimanaMM: I don't know you, but I can imagine "you" actually doing it. It even sounds funny, but I really hope you won't have to.

I live in Europe, so, by the time the game will be available here, I'll probably know Thane's fate. But I'll find something to burn in doing some kind of dark and evil ritual to punish Bioware, if it will come to that.

Epantiras: for this case I hope we all will get back for more. With praising Bioware because they never let their fans down.  I don't want the Refund Man to be born this way.

I don't think you all need to worry about Thane dying in between ME2 and ME3. I don't think Bioware would throw away the character like that. And I'd hate for someone's LI to die invariably. No one wants that unless they're sadistic...

I'm hoping that ME3 will incorporate all ME LI's plus Grunt/Wrex. It would be a well formed squad at that point.

Assuming that only the req 2 make it out alive of ME2, you would still have 5 squad members (Ashley/Kaidan, Liara, and Wrex, +2 from ME2).

If all of your crew made it, Kasumi and Zaeed are DLC and probably will be DLC/extra/cameos in 3. This means there are 2 open spots that can be taken by your ME 1 LI. Then Grunt or Wrex, depending on what happens in between, and that makes the same size crew as in 2.

If your squad dies in ME2, I think it's a reasonable penalty to have a smaller squad option in ME3, you shouldn't get off scott-free, and being limited in your squad mates makes sense to me.

Plot-wise, the places where your squadmates were will be filled by random NPCs, similar to if you didn't save Wrex, and they will not be recruitable.

Also, as someone said, it'd be silly for BW to penalize people who romanced THISONECHARACTER by having him die of a disease while everyone else's LI gets to go LALALAHAPPYENDING.  That'd ****** off a lotta people :)

And, Thane was built specifically as a femShep LI, they put a LOT of time and research in to him, I don't think they'd just toss him out the door so quickly.  I expect lots of plottwisty goodness.

Idk, after DA, I guess we expect the worst :?  But Thane is just so well written, and very well-received, I can't see how he wouldn't return in some capacity!  Of course, I didn't believe they would make Kaidan and Liara go off and do different things instead of joining Shep for ME2.  Either way, I hope all three are in ME3!

Idk, after DA, I guess we expect the worst :?

Dragon Age was a single game...it's much easier to excuse Bioware for tragic romance in a single game than a trilogy. It's more excusable for a single book with no sequels to end tragically, but if you read or watch the LOTR trilogy and at the end all of the main characters like Frodo, Sam, Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli died and Sauron returned to power then you'd ask yourself what the point of reading or watching it all was. And Thane was built from the ground up as a romance interest for female players, so unless they think female players like widowers dying in their arms...you know.

Either way, I hope all three are in ME3!

I quite hope all romances in ME3...

I take comfort in the fact that all BW games to date have had *some* sort of happy ending with your LI possible, even after a sorta messed up almost-ending.

And ebidebby: *shifty eyed* NSAS is VERY active but we get completely squeakin' crazy at times....*innocent* *looks at some of her fics* *Innocent dies a horrible bloody kinky death*

...oops

Well as laradenton quite rightly pointed out, us Europeans usually have to wait a few days after the American release date, not that I want the game spoilt or anything but I know quite alot of Americans on these forums and all I simply want to know is whether it is good news or bad news, if it's bad then I will NOT be spending my money on it.

Seriously we have to put up with enough crap IRL, playing video games is one of my biggest hobbies because at least for a couple of hours each day they allow for an escape on reality. For the people who have lost friends/family due to terminal illnesses, myself included, I do not want to see the same situation portrayed in one of my favourite video games it would be too depressing and if they do indeed decide Thane shall die of his illness, without any sort of option to cure him then I simply will not buy the game!

I'm not sure if I'm to the point where I wouldn't buy the game. I love the ME universe and would like to have my Shepard end her story. However, if Thane does die between the two games, I would be extremely disappointed. I grew attached to the entire squad (even derpy Jacob) and ME3 just wouldn't be the same without those squad members there.

I'll grin and bear it, I'm already expecting the worse though they did say that all squadmembers would be making a return. Whether or not they'll have squaddie status is up for debate. I'd have tremendous respect if Bioware manages to pull it off.

Honestly, if Bioware does not have the fan favorites return, I don't think the game is worthy of purchase. The Reapers aren't interesting enough as enemies for me to play the game. It's strange since I went into Mass Effect one almost not knowing an iota about it...but if the same characters don't return, I wouldn't feel like playing the game. The characters are Mass Effect to me.
