Thane is a surprisingly cool character. He's an assasin who lost his wife to people who want to kill him, he goes out and kills them in revenge, by doing so he left his son alone and without a father, and on top of that he's terminally ill. All that and he doesn't turn into a stereotypical emo. He's good in my book.
I think one of the more interesting things about Thane is that he doesn't feel ashamed for his past deeds (sans the discomfort he feels toward how he handled the slavers.) Whether you agree with him or not on why that's so, I still think it was an interesting way of nuancing the whole "warrior-monk" angle of his character.

I did her quest after the SM and, if there is something else, I didn't get it. It might get triggered only if she's present during the SM as well. I don't know.RShara wrote...
There's also a line from her after the SM, apparently. I haven't gotten that far yet with this save, so does anyone have a screenshot of that?

I agree. I think it's one of Thane's better characteristics (besides snapping necks and looking sexy) that he doesn't feel ashamed of what he's done, nor should he, in my opinion. He knows some of the things he's done haven't been pristine, however he deals with it in a very admirable way - he wants to atone, leave the world a better place, balance the scales and he does so, without Shepard having to treat him with kid gloves or hold his hand constantly. It's so simple, in the end, how the relationship can grow between him and Shepard and that alone makes it so absolutely wonderful.
@lara denton : Squee! I played through Kasumi's mission this morning, so much fun! But had to jet so I wasn't able to talk to her after the mission. That's so awesome that she talks about Thane to Shepard!
Here's a question for anyone with the Alternate Appearance pack (Xeyska, Icca), does Thane's red / black outfit totally replace the all black loyalty outfit or can we choose either the red / black, the all black or the brown outfits?

It is a nice touch - having someone notice the relationship - and she doesn't feel like being part of a DLC like Zaeed does, she's more part of the team. Maybe it feels so because of her comments, either about the LI, or about sharing a drink with doctor Chakwas.kaimanaMM wrote...

The red outfit is additional to the two existing ones. So he'll get 3: the default one, the loyalty one and the red one.

Thane's philosophy is definitely an interesting facet. He feels no remorse at having been an assassin all his life, except for those that he killed of his own will, and for what happened to his family. It's an interesting take on things, and I'm glad BW went with that instead of the "repentent assassin" angle.

Smells like Urban Shadows!
EDIT : I saw the sculptures in the general section, seriously good work! I'd so buy one of Thane. It does look worlds better / more like Thane than the action figure. And the lips ... /swoon!

It was a fine line to walk, but they managed to pull it off. He maintains his personal confidence but not at the risk of him being egotistical because his past still keeps him in check. He recognizes that this is the way he was raised, for better or worse, and all he can do is make the best of it.

iNixiRir: I've seen the image, so I'm just wondering, what about being posted on NSAS?
There is not much of a difference between him and the others in Shepard's team. Is just a matter of perspective; while some claim that they killed for the higher good - see Garrus and Samara for example, they are actually all pretty much in the same boat. Is just that Thane is branded an assassin which leads to the idea that he might not have the "morals" of the others.IccaRa wrote...
