Who would win in a fight? Thane or Kasumi?

We'd need to know more about BW's design process to figure that out.  I read an interview (pixelogic? some design tool company, there was  a link on the general discussion page) with the artists, and they said Thane took 1.5 months of time to design.  Now that they have a basic Drell look, I suppose some of that work could transfer to other drell characters.  I wish they'd talked about how long the average character might take to design, compared to what they went through to make Thane.

Still, I thought that was an interesting behind-the-scene look.

Do you have a link to the article you could share? That actually sounds really interesting.

Something just occured to me today as I was replyaing Thane's royalty mission.
Mouse said that Thane "always gave him chocolate" and Thane replies that "he never gave chocolate to his own son". Is it possible that Thane became looking at young Mouse as a son rather than a "tunnel rat"?

I'm actually on my second playthrough of the game right now. I did Thane's recruitment mission. Anyone notice what a jerk Jabob is to Thane when you get back to the Normandy? My Shepard will always stick up for Thane. I'm playing renegade this time but will probably still end up romancing him.

Anyway, I remember the scene you're talking about. I think Thane said something like "Mouse knew more about my life than Kolyat ever did". Thane used to get information on his targets from the "duct rats". I found that whole part of his backstory really sad. It was kind of sweet that Thane carried around a holo of Mouse but his explanation for it was so bittersweet when he explained how Mouse "worshipped the petty gifts" he offered and wanted to know that someone would remember him. It kind of seemed like Mouse was a stand-in for his son in a way .. It was obvious how guilty he felt for not having a bigger part in his son's life. I think he even recalls Mouse asking to see a holo of Kolyat "where's your son, krios?" :/

As for Thane vs Kasumi - I'll just take the easy answer and say it'd be a tie. They're both supposed to be the best at what they do. I'd be a tough fight.

For that interview.

I wonder if we'll see Mouse again, as a random NPC....I felt bad we couldn't actually kill Kelham, and now poor mouse is going to suffer.

My Shepards never turn Mouse in, should they be presented the opportunity to (I believe Kelham only asks if you take too long with the interrogation and haven't choked him out yet.)

Presumably Kelham doesn't know who snitched him. Hopefully not, anyway. I really liked Mouse.

I found Thane's recollections of him to be poignant. "Bare feet black. A dead-end future looking up at me." "I was all he had back then, but I left him as I left Kolyat."

Thane is the cover guy of ME2 together with Miranda, I think he'll make at least a cameo. Don't forget he's a LI too.

Unfortunately his LI status doesn't prevent some people from writing him off, for as far as they're concerned we're just "asking for it."

Doesn't make sense for him to be written off. He was made specifically from the ground up as a romance option. all that work just for him to die in between ME2 and ME3 makes absolutely zero sense. I can't believe people keep suggesting it.

After reading the Haiku thread, they reminded me of Thane's memory flashbacks but I couldn't recall the precise dialog to be sure. It's a poem with 5/7/5 syllables, usually containing a strong image or seasonal refrence....

Spice on the Spring wind (5)

Sunset Colored Eyes (5)

I couldn't remember the other thing he said (something about a laser) ...to see if it had 7 syllables.

He says it three times in slightly different ways:

Laser dot trembles on his skull. One finger-twitch, he dies. Then the smell of spice on the spring wind. Sunset-colored eyes defiant in the scope. The laser dances away.

Then later:
Laser dot trembles on his skull. Spice on the spring wind. Sunset eyes defiant in the scope.

And a third time:
Laser dot trembles on the target's skull. The smell of spice on the spring wind. Sunset eyes defiant in the scope.

Hm, not really the haiku pattern then, though definitely poetic.

I love the visual power behind them. His recollection of irikah is a bit more poetic than his recollections of people like Mouse, but that doesn't come as a surprise considering the subject matter. :) Keythe Farley said they gave him a lot of freedom when it came to voicing the flashbacks and he said he had a lot of fun with them.

That was my take on it.  I wrote about it in my fanfic today and I actually came to this thread to see if it had been discussed.  It was something that struck me strongly when I played the scene.  I may be a Kaidan fangirl but Thane has been tempting my less-well-behaved Shepards an awful lot in part because talking to him is so interesting...and yummy.

I can't imagine Thane not returning. He plays like a M1 character. I'm sure they'll develop him more if he lived.

I'm not sure I want Thane cured, but his romance reduced me to a giggling, sighing idiot. Definitely my favorite of the three options.

Is there any speculation about what kind of symptoms Thane might be suffering from at the time of the game?

I assume there would be some breathing issues, similar to say asthma. I wonder if steroids would help slightly in that case. You know, like an inhaler.

Seriously, I'm just torn up with the waiting to know if any future DLC will help or hinder Thane.

I figure it's like a slow climb up a 20,000 foot mountain when you've never done anything like that before. Also figured a bronchodilator would only help Thane so far, as I always imagined the lungs were scarring past any use whatsoever. Wondered what could be happening to the rest of his organs, since its a bacterial infection that spreads. Imaginings started to get unpleasant. Poor Thane. :/
