Actually, Pacifien, it's more that his respiratory tissues can't adapt to moist environments, so the more moisture that accumulates, the more respiratory tissue is lost, so that interferes with breathing. But I hope Thane is in ME3. BioWare can do whatever they want with him at the end of ME3, but he HAS to be there: his beliefs, attitudes, warmth, and backstory are too monumental to be tossed aside. This is definitely a character who is ready for the final stand against the Reaper infestation.

Personally, I think having thane in ME3 would be a good thing, but he only has a year left. I figure ME3 starts at least a year after ME2. Sadly I don't think it will happen. *Bows head in remembrance of Thane*

Thane's tied with Jack for my favorite ME2 character. I love that they made an assassin one of the least morally gray characters in-game.

Couldn't we buy time with a lung transplant or hit the Lazarus station and grow him a new set of his own?

The infection eventually spreads to other tissues and organs, so transplanting just the lungs isn't enough. Eventually, the infection spreads enough that the lungs get damaged too quickly for a transplant to be worthwhile. Growing and giving him new lungs miiiggght get him some more time, but it's unclear how beneficial it would be.

This is wordlessly beauitful. Thank you very much, although I didn't watch the whole thing (stopped at the kiss) because I have yet to import my female and play a FemShep playthrough. I romanced Kaidan in ME1, but I won't stay loyal to him. I just really love Thane.
